    I have more games that don't support prone, than games that do.

It doesn't make that much of a difference apart from for snipers maybe but BC1 didn't really have as many open spaces for snipers when you compare it to BF2.
      It's their terrible excuse that bothers me. It's something Infinity Ward would say.

        I think he's right, it's about the engine. Prone comes in two flavors, the one where you can prone when standing in a corner, it doesn't take in account your body so you have your legs sticking out from the other side. And the other flavor is where you can only prone when there's enough physical space for your body ie no legs sticking out of a wall. Since this is a new engine with ragdolls, it usually means your body takes up physical space, and taking into account destructible environment, they probably couldn't get it work where say for example, you're trying to prone in a corner of a room but the walls are destroyed. Since the walls don't entirely disappear and leave rubble at their base, you can't prone in the corner even if the walls are gone because their foundations are still there. So maybe it was easier to just scrap it entirely instead of finding a fix. Or something...

          Sorry, but no prone because of the engine is a dumb excuse IMO. Prone is an animation, I don't think it's really hard to implement. BF game had always had Ragdoll effects & I don't see why it would affect it. Destruction could possibly be a factor, but honeslty I don't think so.

          Prone doesn't fit the flow of the game. DICE wanted faster game play and for that they didn't want ppl proning in one area for ages. It takes a little getting used to, but it works for this game. I'm sure future BF games will have them.

            maybe proning near a wall caused wall destruction. you never know the way dice programs games, lol.

              I'm just enjoying you folks talking about how DICE sucks at programming, and that they hate PC gamers in general.

              I'm sure DICE has a reason for not implementing prone. Whether they'll tell us or not is up to them, and it's no reason for us to get upset about.

                  There was no prone in Bad Company 1 so it's not that new. Luckily the camouflage is pretty decent and if you kneel near a tree or something it's pretty hard to see or find a nice cliff face and get a height advantage.

                    Yeah agreed, I would say that's because it's through twitter and somewhat informal but it will be never be addressed any other way so it is a piss poor excuse.

                    I suppose they might have encountered difficulties with prone and the destructible terrain, it would certainly explain why they glossed over the point when explaining it. It's not like they are going to come out and say they couldn't figure it out.

                        I don't want to brag (yes I do but I have to act polite right? ) But I could take on an entire team on consolers vs me with a PC.

                            Wow guys ... really? DICE can't figure out how to make a prone animation that doesn't destroy walls?
                            Just a quick reminder: Ragdoll only activates after a player dies. It's not like you're going to be running around swinging your limbs around like you're a broken marionette... Also, you assign weight to objects when you ragdoll them.
                            That's what prevents a brick hitting a tank from sending the tank flying.

                            As long as they can figure out to not make bodies weigh a ton each, them breaking walls is just a ridiculous assumption.
                            Also, they've got hitboxes or other hit detection, right?

                            If(hitbox.intersect.map)
                            then{
                            disableProne;
                            }

                            Done.
                            It can't be that hard.
                            If it was truly such a problem combining player movement with the destructible objects, merely walking over them or crouching would present the same problem. Why haven't they removed them, then?

                            My guess: balance. It has nothing to do with lame excuses, it's just a design decision.
                            And design decisions are made based on what the developers want to achieve with their game. Simple as that.

                                Well. To be honest i think DICE just wants you to see the difference from bf2 or bf3, and bfbc abd bfbc2.
                                Maybe if they installed the prone and many other options/abilities people wouldn't realise that it is another game and not a sequel to bf2.
                                Well, i myself, of course think it would be mutch better with prone but i dunno, i'm just another gamer wanting bf3 badly :P

                                But still, go to youtube and check that first bfbc2 video, the teaser trailer one, "battlefield bad company 2 teaser trailer" or something, the one that is animated, in the part were the sniper appears, he is proned.... maybe in pc u will be able to prone, or maybe it is just because it was a teaser trailer. who knows. But still, i think those " proning near a wall caused wall destruction" is not the problem in fact.
