Well you can noob-up pretty much any aspect of the game so I don't really see them being a problem. Sure, they can be annoying, but at the end of the day, it's one guy who can easily be taken out that's firing them. And unlike the grenade launchers in BF2, it's very obvious where the rockets are coming from.

    Fire away.

The BF2 GL shouldn't even be compared to the PK rockets. The PKs can be airbursted, can be fired a long way, have a large splash radius, and give you the ability to shoot up to four in a short amount of time. The BF2 GL has a very small yield and detonates only on impact (so no spamming a rooftop to kill a sniper, unless you are one HELL of a good shot and use it like a close-range mortar) and have a relatively long reload time. As an assault whore in BF2 I can attest that they aren't even in the same realm as PK rockets.

          Re: Are PK Rockets 'n00bie'

It's possible to see just how nooby rockets are and just what a crap effect they have on the game when two teams go for a long time without using them, and then a new player arrives on the server and starts spamming rockets against infantry.

It's like all the skill seems to form a big puddle in the middle of the battlefield, then slowly pick up spiral rotation and wash down some giant invisible plug-hole, as more and more players stop going for skill skills, and start joining in with the spam-fest.

I've played for over a year with my mouse-res really high, for fast turns in knife fights. This has made careful steady aiming a bit hard when it comes to firing guns, so I should be the perfect candidate for rockets ...but in fact I NEVER equip them, simply because I see what a negative impact they can have on games.

Screw rockets. Screw people who use rockets.

Take smoke nades or rader nades instead. ...The smokiness got turned up one or two patches ago, so now they're smokier than ever! There's really never been a better time to equip smoke nades!

you're kidding right? smoke nades are about as useful in the battlefield as a banana.

To be fair, the nadar is at least somewhat useful although I still very rarely see it used. Plain old smoke nades are a waste of an unlock spot, though.

You are so wrong. The banana would at least trip the enemy. So a banana would be a lot more useful. Smoke grenades would be a lot better if they made the smoke last longer and it was thicker. That way you could be taking a flag and be inside the cloud, but then the enemy would just chuck a bunch of grenades into the cloud.

I see a a lot of rocket moaning going on here; I am rarely killed by them and I am almost solely infantry. To be fair though I never go on Camp G but you should, in theory, be able to pre-empt rockets.

If you use a Voss then maybe you should lay off. On maps such as Port Bavaria, which I frequent, Rockets are fine in my opinion because Snipers will run amok with you otherwise, especially the ones sat on top of silos. Range the rockets correctly and you got yourself a sniper wondering how the hell he go killed when there was nothing solid behind him on an elevated position. Ranging rockets takes a moderate degree of skill and keen observation.

Although smoke nades on Port Bavaria as EU sounds good especially when Walkers camp outside the hangars.

Smoke grenades are useful in titan assault. I throw one in the corner and see the panicking Recon detonate it's RDX thinking that I m rushing in the moment the smoke grenade activates. Only to realize that after the explosion has gone off, my entire squad in within firing range of him.

PK Rockets are a threat to snipers all around and it's the only way infantry can take out roofers besides the RDX shotgun.

Except for the fact that they are instant kill and, in my opinion, much more deadly than PKs.
