Word! I loved MoH and it was popular for a looong time. TONS of people still play CS. Why? Both games have GREAT gameplay (I don't like CS, but I can't deny its success among others) and even though there isn't much to it, the balance of weapons and the maps make it great. I almost wish I could live in the days of MoHAA again, mmm. ^_^

But yes, too many games try to put in what other games have put in. They feel that if they don't put everything in from every other game, they're not gonna sell copies. Originality people, c'mon!

In defense of the tanks it is quite possible that the tanks will be easier to kill in Hardcore like everything else. It makes sense that the vanilla version of the game would make you hit the tank four times. I bet it takes no more than two shots. Just like all of the hand held weapons will be deadlier in HC mode, as well.

Remember too, in United Offensive, it took a few rounds to destroy any tank as long as you were shooting at the front of it, but one panzerfaust round in the a.ss end and it was bye bye birdie.

Re: Is Anybody REALLY Impressed with COD:WaW?

Its really simple when you think of it, all FPS use the same structure.

                Two sides (or more)
                Weapons that can be upgraded
                Different abilities + equipment
and the same vehicles e.g. cars, tanks and planes.

so all FPS are like each other, there is something similar in the MMO department. The newly released Warhammer: Age of Reckoning has been said to look like WOW. ALL MMO's go by the same structure people just say it looks like WOW because it is more popular.

SO all FPS's are very similar just different skins.

                  ^^^

Totally agree, you would only have to develop a new style of FPS to revolutionize a new era of FPA gameplay.

Quite why game developers do not look at the skins available in MOHAA and allow changes is beyond me.

And regarding the discussion on FPS becoming stale.... yes I agree to some degree because the fundamental gamplay has not changed since early days. It does needs someone to come along and freshen it up!

Yeah, but what could be done? In the end you are pointing something at something to destroy something. Weapons change. I loved Hexen, where you could use spells on people. In the end though, its still an FPS.

Was it Battlefield that brought vehicles into the mix? Im not sure what was the first FPS that did that, but that was a big step up.

it does seem a bit like cod4 yes, but having a change in map, setting and weapons will make it different and much more fun i think. I havent actually played it yet but we will see.

But I think the game Mirror's Edge demonstrates ways you can change an FPS.

Yeah, thats another change. Hand combat. Games always had a knife or sword or chainsaw, but I like the idea they are doing with Mirror's Edge. They say you can beat the game without firing a single bullet.

Companies are going to keep making adjustments to try to make the mode fresh, but in the end, you can only do so much.

Im astonished at the Vehicle in CODWAW. In hardcore its overly powerful, In it or playing against it, then in stock it is more than one shot to kill someone. I thought the bolts were ridiculous, now i see tanks that dont even have splash damage hardly. As i go i get more and more disappointed, although i still like it.

I have a feeling that with COD:WW, custom servers are going to be more where it's at. I think so many of us prefer the "old" type of WWII shooter from the glory days of MOH/COD, that there will be a good-sized audience for it, more so than COD4. And on those servers, the rules/settings will be vastly different I'm sure.
