I believe that ourselves and our skills are the biggest killer in games and in real battlefields. No matter how high-tech rigged, intergrated...ect ect... weapons are, people who use them is the most important part.
Back on topic: Voss is very flexible, medium range, short range, good ammunition capacity. But I think players skills is what decides whether he/she wins in a firefight, not the gun itself.
Therefore, people hate others because of their sneakness, slyness and skills. Not because of the gun.
Id say increase spread and decrease damage. It works very well in my mod, my AI is equivalent to a human and uses the weapons as they should be used, Snipers only stay at long distances and assault mostly storms the flags.
There's really no disputing that the Voss is the easier gun to use. Therefore, calling it a noob gun does have some relevance. However, should we really care? More often than not, the more skilled player will win the firefight, Voss or no Voss.
Imho, the real imbalance in BF2142 (and BF2 for that matter) is the ability of the assault (or medic) kit to rapidly self heal. This, more than anything else, results in servers littered with these kits at the expense of the others.

Really? I've played a hell of a long time on ranked servers and whilst on the whole, assault is the most popular kit... there's MORE than countless numbers of times I've looked at the scoreboard and thought "WHERE THE HELL ARE MY TEAMS MEDICS?". Prime example at the moment is op. Shingle... on a large server you'll get some assaults running around capping flags, then an abundance of ganz/snipers camping various points, usually amounting to more players than the assaults. Popular kit, sure, but not by a massive margin... always plenty of snipers/support guys about.
The weapon doesn´t matter, nowdays I get 4:1 to 5:1 k/d ratios independent of using Voss, Baur, krylov, Walker or tank.
Stop complaining abaut the voss, I prefer if everyone of my "enemies" has a voss than a krylov, and worse than krylovs I hate snipers with instant headshots at 20000 km away arrrrrggggggh.

Hehehe, I love playing with the sniper kit and doing that to the boys assulting my flag that I'm defending.
But on the topic of hating the Voss? I think it was said earlier, its a love hate relationship. I hate it when I'm getting totally owned by a squad of guys using it but when I'm in that squad owning the other team its all good. I just see the Voss as another weapon to use in my arsenal. If I choose to go as a medic in most cases I will grab the Voss or the Krylov. Basically I just do whatever my team needs to win the round.
