Wow, what a load of BS in this thread. Yeah, BF2 is a simulator. Think about it this way: If you were born yesterday and didn't know what war was... wouldn't BF2 give you some idea?
Mariokart is a driving simulator. It is because if you're playing and someone asks what you're doing you can say "driving". When you're playing BF2... you could say "I'm killing people". Because the game simulates killing.
Is anyone getting this? Does anyone here have any sense of logic at all? I just can't belive this sh¡t! Dumbαsses!
Oh yeah this thread was about server rules. If I had a server there would be no rules. Baseraping, carrier attack, solo TVing... the works.
Think about the carrier for a sec... and the commander. Ever hunt the enemy commander? I do it all the time, it's fun. Well what if he's on the carrier, but attack isn't allowed? Is it really fair that the enemy commander cannot be killed while your commander is a sitting duck at your capable airfield?
What about base rape? That sounds fair. NO. Say you're in an enemy base as a SL and you're waiting for reinforcements. You're not gonna wait at the flag.. but say there are people around looking for you and trying to kill you. It isn't fair to just say cap the flag or get out.

A simulator is defined asit still simulates war.. the word simulate can be used loosley as its meaning is to mimic.. which is exactly what BF2 is doing.. "mimicking" war... whether its an accurate simulation or not doesnt take the light away from the fact its still a simulator..
'a machine for simulating certain environmental and other conditions for purposes of training or experimentation'
Now I am not gonna get in to the a for league argument about weather or not BF2 is or is not a simulator but that definition matches with what in my opinion a simulator is and should do. BF2 doesn't give you any aspect of training that can be used in the real world so I'll never see it as a simulator of war.Comment

I don't play any rules. All targets are fair game admin/no admin present. I like going after the queens hanging out on the carrier on a no uncap server when the admin is offline. I call it raping the rapists haha.Comment

game or not, the same Logic of war is applicable to this game or there is no end-result. And when you import illogical laws then you get misconceptions. These illogical laws ie. no ucb attacking, no soloing, no blinking without permission are frequently abused by the own admins which are supposed to be enforcing them and will do so to everyone except themselves. That's what pisses me off more than the actual rules.Comment
