I'd just like to say that this is a really great game, much like bf2 was when I was hooked on it for the first year or so. But the more I play the more problems I am beginning to see in the game, some minor announances and other things that I find as a big problem. So lets see if you agree or disagree with my points here, I will list bullet point first and then you may choose to scroll down for a detailled reason.
A) Support Weapons (LMG)
B) Fixed MG
C) Bunny Hopping
D) Prone/Crouch Fire Delay
E) Martydom
F) Helicopters
G) Spawns
H) Guns Floating
A) Support Weapons (LMG)
Coming from BF2 I am use to being forced to have to shoot in controlled bursts to keep the gun from over heating which also increased you're over all accuracy with the weapon. However, I've noticed in COD4 that this is hardly the case, the exact opposite in fact. I think that this was a good feature in BF2 that should be considered in this game for all support weapons.
Typical example: Someone on the side of one wall using bullet penetration or guarding a hallway door just spamming bullets constantly. The only time they stop is when they have to reload or they run out of ammo.
B) Fix MG
Fixed MG's really need to be cut back on there power. They should have an over heating feature on them so people don't spray and pray on In fact, they don't even need to pray considering that these guns seem to have splash damage. Perhaps the gun should also need to be reloaded occassionly, to hopefully cut down on this bullet spam.
Typical example: Maps like Downpour and Backlot, especially Downpour are mostly controlled by the two fixed MGs. Backlot is somewhat bad but unlike Downpour, there are more blindspots on these emplacements allowing people to actually kill the people who sit there all game.
C) Bunny Hopping
In the beginning I didn't see anyone bunny hopping which was great. Now when I play I am constantly seeing it. If they want to jump like retards, there should be serious consequences to it, perhaps not being able to shoot like in BF2. This game represents a bunny hoppers dream, at least EA got something right in BF2 on not shooting while in the air. If shooting while in the air is to stay, then at least consider decreasing the accuracy of the weapons while hopping around.
Typical Example: Sneaking up or moving in, surprise the enemy who turns around and just jumps around and shoots you down. Or they are over confident and just run headfirst into the action jumping and shooting.
D) Prone/Crouch Fire Delay
Another thing EA got right was a fire delay while switching between standing, crouch and prone. I never realised how much of a difference this made in BF2 untill I played COD4 - people jumping then swithcing to prone - tieing into the bunny hoppers parade.
Typical Example: Shooting someone who just keeps shooting while switching to prone from standing. Or the bunny hopper who jumps around and prones while shooting.
E) Martydom
Personally I say take this feature out of the game, its so dumb. All this promotes is running into a group of ppl like an idiot after spamming nades everywhere.
However, I know that will probably not happen so I was thinking last night that people who are level 55 should no longer get to use martydom. My reasoning is that there is no point for them to use it anymore at this stage in the game. They no longer need the XP from the free kill(s).
F) Helicopters
I thought this was a very cool feature in COD4 initially but as time went on I only got more annoyed with it than appreciating it. I say take it out of the game, or at least make it a lot less accurate. Another thought is to increase the kill streak you need to get it, or limit its use per person per game (example would be max 2 times per person and the kill streak required should be 10 or 15 even) Another thought is that if someone is getting so many kill streaks, how about a progressively harder kill streak to obtain the helicoputer support or airstrike. (example would be you get first helicopter 7 kill streak, the next one will require 10, and the following 15.)
G) Spawns
I'm not the only one who has had this happen to me, I spawn right in front of the enemy or I spawn on top of a grenade about to explode or I spawn in the middle of an air strike. Another Bad spawn is the beginning of The Bog, people use the grenade launcher to kill a good portion of the enemy team the moment the game starts. Yes, that was impressive but I doubt that was an intended use in the first few seconds of a round across the map.
Another bad thing is moving in on the enemy, I sometimes find myself in the middle of a spawn fest. Some people declare this as camping but we all know that cod4 spawns are random away from the majority of the enemy team.
Now my solution to this issue is simple, there should be a few seconds where enemy fire cannot kill you the moment you spawn. Again, coming from BF2 I noticed that there is a second or so where you can shoot the enemy the moment they spawn but they will not be damaged. Another thing is they also got to choose where they could spawn (being on the flags that are currently held). If COD4 could implement sections on the map where the player chooses to spawn, it may also cut back on camping spawns or intantly dieing the moment you spawn.
H) Guns Floating
I don't really mind it but it is always weird seeing an AK47 on a wall as if it was a fixed MG. Not really a concern but an area to look into.
Conclusion
I seriously think that these areas need to be looked at, there aim is to improve the over all gameplay and quality online. BF2 IO mode has its issues too, but they also had good features in it to help maintain a fun experience to all players. Though I do doubt that these will be taken seriously by a lone player, but perhaps a community of players can agree to this issues and solutions.
