I don't want CoD4 to be like BF2. Some of the quirks you've mentioned are tolerable, and present a certain aspect of difficulty that forces me to be at the top of my game, even when I'm just screwing around. - When I knife someone, I sure as heck make sure not to linger over his dead body, waiting for a grenade to blast me. Yes, it can get frustrating at times, but if I die, it's my fault for dying to something that is avoidable.
Personally, I like having two different games to play whenever I feel like playing them.
To me this is the same thing as the people crying for changes in Frontlines: Fuel of War - I don't want it to be another homogenized BF2 ripoff... I don't want Call of Duty 4 to be changed to meet the 'feel' of other games. It has it's own feel that I love - even the things I used to hate, I've grown to love.
Why do people want games to be exactly like the games they left?

) check it out on the demo first. Im glad I did. Thinking it may have been because of the demo, I played the full version on a friends PC and it was the same for me.
