    Call of Duty 4 Skill

    Alright,
This is not a bragging thread, simply an observation. I've played with many forum members, and I'm sure that every (almost ) forum contributer here is a great player.

But I've begun to notice something, and it might just be the change from Battlefield 2 to CoD4. Battlefield 2, I felt extremely good having a 2:1 kill to death ratio in a round, and that wasn't medic whoring. So yeah, I wasn't the one racking up the kills out there all the time, but at least I felt as though I was challenged.

That challenge, now I realize, was created not just by the players, but by the gameplay: ability for enemies to heal themselves, grenade spamming, etc. and not much of this is present in Call of Duty 4.

Basically, my point is, I find Call of Duty 4 to be much less of a challenge. Once again, it may just be the change from Battlefield 2 to CoD4, but it still makes me think. Of course now I've begun to play Search and Destroy and Headquarters, finding the skill level to be a bit increased.

An example: I have found myself time and time again outnumbered by the enemy, only to pick up one of their guns and kill them all after they spray like mindless, blind zombies. Now remember, I'm not bragging here, I'm simply saying that the skill level of most players in a server seems relatively low.

There always seems to be a few people in a server who just dominate, while the rest act as bullet sponges. I'm not 100% why I've come to this conclusion that the majority of Call of Duty (4) players are... less skilled. A final theory is that many of them are new to FPS's, getting the game for Christmas or a birthday. It may just be the opposite, that the leaders in a round are just "better", but I'm not convinced with that statement.

Because some rounds I can have a 3+:1 ratio, and other (few) rounds barely hold onto a 1:1 ratio, I can't be sure which it is.

    What do you guys think?

I think twitch skills and camping are more rewarding in COD than BF.
Add to that the "score multipliers" in the form of Airstrikes and helicopter, and you will easily get people who dominate.

I have also noticed that the leaders in a round often have no better K/D ratio than the rest.

Personally I do worse in COD4 than in Battlefield

Well, true. Twitch skills are actually effective in CoD4 as hit detection is much more accurate.

I agree with everything thing the OP said actually. I only know of a few skilled players in the game.

Well remember that your gun K : D ratio is lower then what you get at the end of a round, in case you dominate, as kills get propelled big time with airstrikes and choppers.

I was really surprised when I begun to play CoD4 and noticed that I was just as good as the top rank players even though I had never played a CoD game before (except for the CoD 2 & 4 demos)...

Most people just sprays all over the place and doesn't seem to actually give an effort to hit me. On shipment, of all maps, I just pick an shotgun/mp5 and run across the map and getting in the top 3 every round. I obviously get killed sometimes, but looking at the killcam I see that 80% of the time they were just lucky (like wasting a whole clip and missing me even though I'm not moving but getting a lucky headshot with the last bullet)... I'm still surprised. Perhaps there's a lot of beginners to FPS games in CoD4 atm, since the game has been getting such great reviews.

I don't play on large servers though as there's way too much nade spamming and camping with 16+ players.

I see where your coming from; heres my little skit.

This game was made way different then COD2. It's more say, ah, CS:S on crack? Any CS:S player, can come from CS, and fit in just fine with COD4. I know a dude, who has over 1,000 hours logged in CS, came to COD4, and dominates all. If you come from say a BF game, you'll have some troubles. Not as slow as a BF game was, things always moving.

I've gotten to the point of this game, I can go into any server, and pretty much honest to god, be #1 the whole time. (not counting those dumb 24/7 40man TDM gay servers with p90's and 3xfrag perks going everywhere). I use the guns allowed in CEVO and what PRO teams use, same as perks.

I play like a PRO and I am a PRO. With over 45hours logged in the past 7 days, I think I need a life. But.. I plain to have gaming my future money maker, PRO gaming. Also, with Computer Science as backup.

Same as you ariealz, if i run out of ammo. It's not hard to pick up a gun or even go USP on them and take them down.

All in said, it's CS:S on crack. Pure and simple. PRO teams will make this game go, as long with TWL, TGL , CEVO and others. Once the CS players realize, this is CS on crack, they will convert over, soon enough.

If you knew the game, like the top notch players do, you wouldn't whine and cry about campers. You would be smart, and know how to get them before they get you.

There's tactical camping and tent camping.. You choose.

THIS WAS NOT A BRAG POST, THIS WAS FACT. I GOT SCORES TO PROOF IT

Out of the dudes I game with, the ones who pwn everyone are the ones who played a lot of CS/CS:S. I tend to do very well one round and then completely suck the next; It can be frustrating to play against them.

When I play the pub games, I tend to do very well.

That a little hypocritical, whining about P90 users, saying your "PRO", then accusing someone of not knowing the game because they whined about something.

I guess it's okay to whine if your truly "PRO" though right?

My english is not rly good so I didnt quite understand the whole meaning of this thread, but Id like to say that cod4 is an easy game, too easy infact,no challenge as someone said,if there were ne perks, airstike, chopper, launcher stuff maybe it would be better but now....now p90+launcher+x3frag+martyrdom owns in huge 40+ gay servers (good one m3ow ).I dont know but cod2 IMO was rly harded,I played cod2 for a year but i still couldnt call me skilled player, but now when cod4 came out the first day I played MP i was owning there I just felt that now im rly good player, though i didnt know where did the skill come from.Anyways gay servers FTW!

I find it ridiculous when playing Free For All, that I would go 19:2 and come in second to a person who went 20:19. I clealy played much better than him, but yet he still gets the win. So not all the time the 'better' player gets the win.

I find the game exactly how Aerialz does. I would literally dominate one round, than the next have more deaths than kills. It is a very wishy-washy game. I believe what helps the most is having knowledge of the land, than having the right weapon for the map, than being skilled. In that order.

I'll be the first to admit I suck. I have never played a FPS game in my life until COD4. I also have never played ANY multiplayer games... Ever!! This is the first one I have ever attempted. Yes I suck. Yes I'm one of those so called bullet sponges, but you have to start somewhere. I'm sure you weren't born with a controller in your hand.

I'm still getting used to the game so my K/D ration is like 1:3.. Not good. But I have only played a total of 3 hours so far. I would think that is acceptable for someone as green as me. But apparently you so called pro's out there won't give us new to online gaming a break. You have to complain about every stinking move we make. I'm getting a little tired of all the stupid complaining already. You guys are totally ruining the game.
