i think the mod makers done best they could & shouldnt be dished.

it is a mod for team players & peep like you are what vanilla is for, cause no teamplay what so ever in vanilla, in PR you have to work as a team & able to be directed just like in real life for it to work which you obviously are against & in real life you would be a no-go.

so you oughta just stay with vanilla where you can be johnny rambo.:salute:
LOL, your ignorance is astounding! You know nothing about what type of player I am. So before you start jumping in with your ignorant 2 cents, at least look at my stats and/or read some of my posts in this thread.

He emphasized the word "REALITY" and I just stated how the mod and any game will fall short because it's a game. I don't think anyone wants a "realistic" game because reality (especially in war) isn't all that fun. I would describe the mod to be tactical (think before you act) and it does a good job at it.

I think the PR mod team has done quality work. I just don't agree on some of their decision as I don't agree with some of Dice's decisions for vanilla. They could make the mod more consistent (player movement) to help keep with the "reality" theme, but they haven't.

My ultimate gripe is how they force team work and complicate the process, instead of rewarding those who want to use it. I am a team player and follow my SL orders. I do what I can to help the team win (usually capturing and defending flags). But I guess I should stick to vanilla because that's where I can put team work into practice.

It is called: The limits of the BF2 engine and a computer. Hey, why don´t we have real guns mounted on the monitor, so that when you get shot in game you get shot for real.

PR brings reality to BF2 for those who like it, if you don´´t fine, but personally it is one of the best things to happen to BF2. And if you are having trouble getting in a squad you are playing on the wrong server with the wrong people, it is almost always possible to be in a good squad using VOIP and teamwork.

        Re: Project Reality vid.

lol, the video is both funny for PR and vBF2 players as PR players just see a guy who is getting shot and dont have a clue what to do, and vbf2 players can relate to him :)

the thing about PR it is VERY unforgiving, unlike vBF2. Do 1 thing wrong, and you are dead because of that mistake. PR aint for every one we know that, we didn't make it for every one, we made it for the select group of people who like the type of gameplay we offer :)

yes some things are not realistic in the mod and that is mainly due in the end to engine limitation and technology, but given what we have got I think we have done quite a good job at making the game both realistic and fun for people who look for that kind of gameplay :)
Yes there is no dout room for improvement, there wont be a final version of PR for a long time :)
not like vBF2 is perfect and its basically on its final version as I dout we will see another vBF2 patch, and if we do will probaly brake more of the engine than it fixes like all the last patches

also cwv_Odedge I would love yo hear more of you definition of teamwork, really, dose it include communication, working together to archive a common objective and all the rest that teamwork really has in it, and this is not with clan players btw this is with public players you have never met before. I bet I could hop onto a server now (if i wasnt uploading a huge file) and crate a squad, invite some public players on the server I have never met before and get them to stick with me and do what I say, even without my [R-DEV] tags on ingame too :)

Aint saying PR is a "better game" than vBF2, it offers something diffrent for what some players look for, if you dont like it thats fine, dont play it if thats the case. I'm sure there are also some things in life which you dont like but others do, and maybe more people like the the thing you dont like, and hardly any one likes what you like, dont mean what you like should be gone? if there is a market for something, it will stay alive, simple as that :)

EDIT: also cwv_Odedge, I did check your stats and to be honest they are very close to my vBF2 stats, only real difference is you have played is that you have played 2088:44:32hrs and I have only played 301:00:27hrs. vBF2 stats are nothing to do with skill, only time played. our k/d is basically the same, you have a 0.04 more than me and other things like that are the same, thou I have a better average accuracy than you etc, which baring in mind you have played 1700 more hrs than me is not what you would expect from a player with soo much exsperiance and a 3 star General, compared to a, I think a master Sargent?

        your stats: http://www.bf2stats.nl/player/43822223/

my ignorance? i almost started not to reply to yours, but you ask for it. for one i dont care about your "stats" who gives a big krap , and your so ignorant you contradicted yourself, talking about "they force teamplay" then u say "i'll stick to vanilla , im a teamplayer, im a good SL i follow orders too" GTFOH

I think Rhino says other things i was thinking so i wont re-write those.

my main point why get on here beotch & complain ,dish a mod & its makers like there idiots when allyou gotta do is stay with vanilla & keepyour mouth shut cause its obvious to me & any other PR player that you dont know what your talkin about & You OBviously aren't a teamplayer & oh btw teamplay on vanilla? you must play the very few that is remaining IO Karkland, and if peep wasnt such point whores there then there would be no teamwork there either.

btw yeah i shoulndt say all cause there is good clans who practice teamwork, i jsut talkin in general on vanilla.

            Re: Project Reality vid.

Teamwork on vanilla pub servers is almost non exsitant. Like Rhino said, you can get on a random PR server, create a squad, invite some ppl over and they will folow you and do what you tell them to do:) and over 50% of them will use VOIP and talk to you.

You can try that on vanilla and im sure that it wont happend unless you actually know those guys. How many times have you seen anyone using VOIP on BF2?? 2-3? I have played for 300-400 hours and i can say that i have seep a maximum of 3 guys using VOIP. Join a Karkand server and join a squad. I can then guarantee you that you will have 2 guys fighting at Factory, 2 nadespamming at Hotel and 1 running around like a headless chicken getting shot. Can you actually call this "teamwork"??

I never said that the mod was a useless effort by the mod team. In fact, you guys have done a great job making a more "tactical" game than vBF2. In those efforts, I applaud your team. I just disagree with some of the "forced team work" and complicating the process. Team work is cooperating with others to get something done. But forcing people to work together is not my idea of team work.

I guess the unforgivingness of the game can be a turn off. With the inherit aspects of internet lag and the fact that certain aspects of player movement is still too arcadish, this can lead to frustration for myself.

I would personally like the player movement tweaked so players can't spin on a dime and jump like a bunny rabbit. I know the mod isn't done and there is work to do. Funny thing is, that every time you have a major update to your mod, I always download it and check it out.

I have played more "tactical' games such as R6: Raven Shield so I appreciate that style of game play. Judging from the response of some of these people, they think that I am an arcadish-Karkand loving-bunny hopping-noob toober. If you do, you know nothing about me.

Well come play with me sometime and you will find out. Like you, I spend most of my time in a squad (mostly playing with a few friends). The only time I am a lone wolf is when I am on the opposite team waiting to join my friends or going after a badge (the aviator was the only badge I had to do this).

I define team work as a squad that is working to wards the same specific goal (wining the game is too general as there is many ways to do this). This usually involves capturing or defending flags. Ideally they should be communicating via VOIP. If not, they should at least use the in game voice commands to communicate. They need to stick together as much as possible. They also need to do what is needed of the squad (i.e. Spec Ops to take out assets, anti-tank if there is armor holding up the squad).

If someone is not sticking with the squad, after a reminder, they should be kicked from the squad. It doesn't matter if no one else joins because they aren't helping the mindset of the team. We have kicked many people who want to do their own thing.

I completely agree! The comments I made on this thread were not meant to say "Anyone who plays PR must be an idiot because there are aspects of the mod that I don't like." I was just giving my opinion (it's the beta tester mentality I have ). But too many people who play this mod act like it's the Word of God and if you disagree with it, you must be some evil heathen. Luckily you have shown a more rational thought process.

LOL! Did I ever state that stats were a direct measure of skill? I was being accused of not being a team player. I said to check my stats to get some evidence that I am a team player. Most of the time I play, I am capturing and defending flags (especially TV station and other important flags). I do this for the benefit of the team. Sure there are times when my friend and I will get in tanks or a chopper, but that's not our typical game.

But you looked at my stats in the wrong frame of mind. I am a above-average player, certainly not close to being the "best". My accuracy has always been average in every game I play (that's not a strength of my game play). My strength in this game is being a "jack of all trades and a master of none".

Sure we have similar KDR and SPM, but if you know anything about stats, you know it's harder for the numbers to change the more you have played. I could easily create a new account and have higher numbers for my stats, but I don't. Why? Because it won't mean I am a better player because my numbers are higher. What any stats show more than anything else is the type of player you are.

If I quickly glance at yours that you provided, I would immediately think you are a team player because most of your time is spent in squads (especially as a SL). But then I would look down the page and notice that you are kind of a vehicle wh0re, especially in the jets. Then I would second guess that you are not a team player because you spend so much time in jets, while in a squad.

Can someone in a jet help out a squad? Sure, from time to time, but it's not the norm. So should I assume that you are vehicle wh0re that only joins a squad so he can see his name in green when he bombs someone? You tell me.

I agree that teamwork in vBF2 is severely lacking. Since I play mostly with a few friends (and anyone who joins the squad), we are always working together. So for me, the team work is there.

If I had to play vBF2 with the average player, then I wouldn't really play the game that much. I do agree that the average player in PR is a team player. I have played it enough to know this from experience. But we are forgetting one thing...

I never stated anything about the communities for either game. I only mentioned the mechanics of the game itself. That's is what should be discussed.

i think you was dishing about how it was a forced teamplay, etc.

help me here, whats forced teamplay mean? do u mean that in order for the team to be effective that you have to do somehting you dont like? or dont want to do? im curuious what the heck are you talkin about.

wanting to do your thing = no teamwork. shat wwhy dont we have 4 quarter backs, 8running backs in football?

you dont make sense to me and im not saying that hateful

and your stats in vanilla *now what im gonna say isnt dishing vanilla i think its a cool game, fun to play* but really doesnt tell me what kinda teamplayer or killer you are,
i.e. in PR you are defending , or in enroute somewhere you see a squad coming you think "oh shat im dead" you hide hoping they didnt see you, till your backup arrives, in vanilla u see a squad comin & think " oh yeah baby come on, i got someting for you"

you see 2 tanks, in vanilla you can take them out with ease, you see a tank in PR you think "oh shat my whole squad is dead"

so their really different games IMO, and being honest i had the hardest time tryn to like this mod at first, took me couple months, i kept saying "uninstall that its too hard" but i really liked it , it was just so different from vanilla it like learning a whole new game & im still learning it. but i understand what the mod makers intension were now & applaude them , when before i was wondering what the heck were they thinking making a game so hard.
but when you work in team it really is eassy & you can really kicksome assses if your squad is working together.

Fair enough question. I will give you an example and if my information about the mod is incorrect, please let me know.

A squad must have 4 members in order for the SL to have the ability to place a rally point (which makes sense to me). But once the SL has the required members, they must obtain an officer kit at very specific locations before placing the rally point (why not give the SL the ability once the requirement is met? programming limitation?).

Then in order for the SL to place the rally point, the squad has to be close enough to each other (why?). This is the best example I can think of. It's requirements like this that draw out the process and complicate unnecessarily.

I presume you didn't read my response to Rhino (not that I can blame you). Most of the time when I play vBF2, I am in a squad doing what the SL wants. If he wants me be a spec ops to take out assets, that's what I do the next time I die. I will follow any reasonable order to the best of my ability.

I don't play Rambo, despite what other's think. If I see I that I am at severe disadvantage, I am not going to think one person is going to make a difference. You presume to know how I play, but you don't. I only mentioned my stats because obviously no one takes my word for it. The only concrete way to know this is to play with the person (doubt that's going to happen for a discussion in a forum).

If I see 2 tanks coming, the only way I will take them out with ease if I am in an attack chopper. Anything else and I am more than likely going to die. Exaggerated example, don't you think?

I am glad you like the mod and wish all the best for the mod team and their faithful community. While I have tried to like the mod, there is enough that I don't like it at this time. I still check out the new updates to see if something has changed or been added to make it more "agreeable" to me.

I am just tired of people who play the mod thinking that if you don't like the mod, you aren't a team player. That this mod is the ultimate answer to a team based game rather than an option.

I didn't respond to your first post because it showed lack of rational thought, but your last one show some intent to understand my point of view. I appreciate that and out of respect for a intelligent discussion responded to it.

It's requirements like this that draw out the process and complicate unnecessarily.
you need 4 in your squad to get a officer kit, only obtaniable at a main base , bunker , etc. & you need atleast 2 more besides the SL to set a rally, i guess where it jsut a game the point of the rally is just to simulate creating a spot, but mod guys have to say for sure why. but ya know cmnd orders a bunker takes a couple peep there with shovels to build it, i mean yeah its a little wild but its just takes a couple willing to do this to make life easier on there teamates.

I presume you didn't read my response to Rhino (not that I can blame you). Most of the time when I play vBF2, I am in a squad doing what the SL wants. If he wants me be a spec ops to take out assets, that's what I do the next time I die. I will follow any reasonable order to the best of my ability.
no i did nt just roughly , but to be honest unless your friends with some, or in or on a clan site, then imsurpirse you can get a SL to talk to you in vanilla to be honest, & if you the SL im surpised if any of the squad will listen. my expeerience with vanilla anyway

If I see 2 tanks coming, the only way I will take them out with ease if I am in an attack chopper. Anything else and I am more than likely going to die. Exaggerated example, don't you think?
no 2 tanks do not scare me on bf2, only if your out in open & they see you then yeah, but ive took them out manytimes by myself.

I am glad you like the mod and wish all the best for the mod team and their faithful community. While I have tried to like the mod, there is enough that I don't like it at this time. I still check out the new updates to see if something has changed or been added to make it more "agreeable" to me .
actually i like/love it i just find it harder than vanilla to me, & for me that makes it good. i love fact of "no uav, no scan, bullets actually hurt, u cant bunnyhop your way outta it very often, one tank can spell death, a few players is "ohshat were in trouble now" etc.
i struggled tryn to learn it &like i said allmost deleted it, but i got hooked when i seen these few peep & knew they ahd no idea where i was & i kept killin them, they never found me we took there flag was very nice.

I am just tired of people who play the mod thinking that if you don't like the mod, you aren't a team player. That this mod is the ultimate answer to a team based game rather than an option.
i dont think thats what i was sayin anyway, you were saying "forced teamplay" i just said ya know thats how the mod is made if you dont like it just simply dont play it

I didn't respond to your first post because it showed lack of rational thought, but your last one show some intent to understand my point of view. I appreciate that and out of respect for a intelligent discussion responded to it.
i was just litle pissd cause u said i was ignorant, sry i meant no offence.

but seriously if you liek the mod & jsut hate the rally thing i mean if you squad sticks together its really easy, like i said its scarey to see a group runnin in your direction unless you got help. it is tough mod.

but really i meant no offence i just like debating i guess too passionate somtimes sry.:salute:

Like i said, its really simple to set up an RP when you in a decent squad. When you spawn, you request the officer kit. Them you get you SM's to folow you and set up a move marker on where you want to set up the RP. Them you go there, set it up and your SM's can request their kits.

                        Now how is this hard??

On paper it's not hard at all. It would be the same as me saying this.

If the MEC wants to take the TV station at Sharqui, just have a few players go up the stairs or ladder and sit on the flag for a while. Granted, that can happen. But if there is a group of players defending the base (like we usually do), more than likely you will fail.

If your squad doesn't have the correct number of players when the round starts, you will have to go and ge an officer kit after the round has started. Then you have to wait until all of your team mates are with you (this gets harder because of the longer spawn times).

To me it's like similar to waiting in line for 4 hours for a 2 hour movie. Sure, when things work smoothly, it's probably great. But I doubt that's the norm.

Yeah I know that and that because team work is required/forced. When you have a squad that is working together, that is great. But if you don't, the game will more than likely suck. Personally, I don't want the game to always be dictated by other players. In vBF2, you can get stuff accomplished easier with a couple of people.

It's a tough mod for sure. If I didn't like the mod at all, I wouldn't bother discussing it. It has potential for me. I downloaded the newest version and will try it out again.

Maybe the problem is that we (my friend and I) are trying to take on too much at one time. I will try it out some more and just join other squads and follow their lead.

Ya know something i think you have same problem i have/had with the mod, patience, i had to learn to slow down & it took me a long time, and i learnt at times the game is slower, like assembling, planning, where vanilla is extemely fast paced, this mod isn't, i mean it probably can be at times , but mostly it takes time to set up & plot an attack. i think if ya just gave it time you will see what everbody is talkin about, yeah it is a pain, like this morining my team was on oman & cmndr wanted a bunker, so couple peep with shovels have to sit there & dig it out, felt like a year when all reality it was couple minutes topps. but whenit was built my team was able to get kits, ammo, etc there. so at times i do stuff i'd rather not do. but then theres times we sneak in on a base & ablsolutely see there knees in the air running at our site, hollaring "mommie" as they run. bullets do tons more damage, tracers in most. to me im allmost at the point i dont care to ever play vanilla again & i do love vanilla,i just likeing this better.

but if your serious im not gonna sit her e& say ever squad leader knows what he is doing, or ever teammate will follow orders, cause they get kicked on there all time for not following orders simply cause the fact if they dont then the squad suffers. & if you dont get enough peep in the squad like if ther's 2 of us, we usually will just go join other squads to make the whole force work better.

GL i mean ya might like it might not, took me long time.

                                :salute:
