Not true. A shot to the leg or arm won't kill with the AWP. It inflicts anywhere from 80-98% damage depending on where the bullet landed. A shot to the chest or stomach inflicts 105-140% damage or so, and I've had headshots with AWPs that inflict 448% damage. :yay:

I was being sarcastic. For the old counter-strike one shot at any body-part caused instant death from THAT sniper rifle (not sure its the AWP).

Back to the OP, I totally agree. Sniper weapons are generally large caliber weapons, hence their lack of capacity. The whole point of them is to kill an enemy, precisely, over a long distance.

Most manufacturers of modern day equipment would not guarantee their body armour to stop a large caliber round of the sniper variety.

i dont care if a real sniper rifle kills in one shot..i bet a pistol does to in real life if shot in the face,but face it its a game ...its not real

its a representation of real.

anyway..if you actualy practiced the dam art of sniping in bf2 you will find that you can kill in one shot..

shoot the head!! to make sure

or gamble

go for a body shot he maybe weak :)

if i hit a target from range and he doesn't drop,i don't stop and think dam he should be dead,i simply put another one in him,problem solved.

i would hate it if sniper rifle were 1shot kill to any part of the body.

noob the black hawk,GL,and what not.
leave the sniper rifle its perfect imo.

you should be ashamed to call you're self a sniper if all you want to do is cqc instant foot shots,

learn bullet drop over 350m+ and land a running head shot then you will understand the beauty of sniping in bf2 :)

i couldnt agree more, i love the sniper rifle in this game - and im a long-time css player, surely you can get used to it too. it really just feels more satisfying and to me "real" because if you shoot someone in the foot, sure you may take it off, but i dont think it should kill them instantly, and yes the bullet drop makes for quite a challenge!

i think we should leave it, as Verzili said, besides theres a large variety - SVD M95 etc.

Thanks for the advice on putting another shot in him, before you came along I would shoot and then sit there and wonder why he didn't die, then I would die as he found my location from the first shot. With your advice I WILL use a second shot to finish him off, how stupid of me.

I am ashamed, I realise that I'm not worthy to call myself a sniper, therefore I will change my name, by deed poll, to "can't kill in one shot for sh!t due to it being a game and not realistic" does that make you feel better?

i think he was a bit flamming , but he was right.

BTW, headshot at 400m isnt easy, but isnt hard, especially if they lay still, moving at 400m very hard IMO.
you cant see the head at 400m you either need a graphic card, compter or maybe just your settings up on high. i've hit them at 450M before.

btw, m95 does like 95% damage, so if they scraped there elbow turning a curve the M95 will take out one shot to the body.

man you take my view a tad personal dont you?

in no way was i trying to wind you up..but it appears i have.

let me see if i can make myself clear.

i dont think making the sniper a 1shot kill is good because..

1.it will be far to easy to outscore everything on the map.

2.semi-auto rifle's will be overpowered much!!

3.the skill factor will be gone and a noob friendly sniper will be born

4.do you see where this is going.

the whole buzz around sniping for me and maybe others,it to test you're ability ..push it even,

this comes with hours of practice with the kit(and imo using one rifle i.e l96a1)

learning the bullet drop,over various distances,it then becomes 2nd nature.
so those 400m kills come more often,

yes its hard to get a head shot over 400m but it is possible thats why i would like to keep it that way.

for the record when aiming at a little dot/pixel of a player aim higher then and only then will you get a headshot.

im not the best,but i learn and play with the best.

if you would like some good info on sniping technique's feel free to pm,and keep the personal remarks away :)

my previous post may of sounded a tad flaming,but i had to say my point of view the best way i could.

bf2 sniping = perfect balance.

Verzili you'll be happy to hear that today i practised with sniper rifle (L96A1) and got quite a few kills with no claymore use (the server didnt allow it) and this was with friendly fire and i came near the end of the game and still managed a 4th top score on our team =)

the funniest kill today happend (ironically it didnt involve the rifle) when i was on top of a roof of a building and i was throwing nades (very poorly) at 2 people below me i managed to hurt myself in the process, so i jumped - parachute didnt open and i pistoled the Spec ops xD

but i was low health by now (courtesy of self-nading and fall w/o parachute) so the other support killed me. but snipers just really rock and hey if i killed a spec ops w/o the use of claymores at close range (aware of my presence) i think i did a good job =D

now, remember... most sniper rifles use a .308 or 7.61x51 (such as the m24, L96A1).

the pkm and svd both share a 7.62x54 round! so, then i'm assuming you'd want the pkm to be a one shot kill too, just less accurate? =)

hell, even the ak's use a 7.62x39 round.

as said before, if you want this game super realistic, there would be no more rezing after your shot. almost all shots would be fatal or severely debilitating, etc.

if you get right down to it, vids like bf2 are just as fake as they are realistic

i have no doubt about your skill with the L96 bud, because now i know people are capeable of getting such high scores with sniper class alone...i have seen some sh!t now!

i can understand your view towards the non-claymoreness of the server (yeah they dont let u put it down) tbh i wouldnt have gone in either if id known - i got kicked for using one. but i rejoined and pwnd without one =D

of course dont get me wrong, i looooove claymores, but i usually use them in clever situations ie. i make it look like im fleeing for my life and then turn a corner sharply and place one the person in their haste to kill me "easily" forgets i may be packing some 'mores (rofl i never used that word before) and *BANG* they die xD

when i first started out i used to use them as flag deterrents - but now i see the folly of my ways lol, too many people get annoyed and, yeah i dont blame them - its not nice to find a surprise bang when you are trying to cap an enemy base...though its still funny to watch such antics from a safe distance with a sniper scope at times (im not completely heartless) =P

infact i got a shiny new Veteran Sniper Badge today (w/o claymore use) ^.^
