Re: Flying heli help
this is way off-topic, but i noticed in your helo tutorial you refer to the tube-launched rockets on the AH-1Z as "4 Canisters of 8 - hellfire missiles"ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_PIYaw IDFKeyboard IDKey_D IDKey_A 0
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIPitch IDFMouse IDAxis_1 0 0
ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_PIPitch IDFKeyboard IDKey_ArrowUp IDKey_ArrowDown 1
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIRoll IDFMouse IDAxis_0 0 0
ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_PIRoll IDFKeyboard IDKey_ArrowRight IDKey_ArrowLeft 1
ControlMap.addKeysToAxisMapping c_PIThrottle IDFKeyboard IDKey_W IDKey_S 0
Just open your controls.con and replace what you have in the
ControlMap.create HelicopterPlayerInputControlMap with the above.
this is incorrect - they are Hydra 70 rockets
a "hellfire" or "helicoptor launched fire and forget" is the AGM-114 missile and its variants and is actually radar or laser-guided as opposed to optically as it is for BF2 gameplay, which sort of negates the point of the acronym... it's operation would be more similar to the A2G missile ordinance on the F-15, SU-30, and SU-34 in BF2 gameplay which use similar ordinance IRL
this is the same rocket used today on Predator UAVs and various drones deployed by US Army forces for surgical strikes in the operations in Iraq and AfghanistanComment

Re: Flying heli help
Just because you feel you need to stand out from the crowd and think that your joystick will help you conquer "all those noobs on KBM" doesn't mean you're right. The KBM setup is just plain better for the chopper than the joystick. Accept it.Originally posted by NeptuneYou mean its hard to hold it in one spot, steady, other than dead center...
Yeah that spring is killer strong, my hand shakes like mad trying to fight that beast.Comment

Re: Flying heli help
enough of this already, i didnt say i would "own all the noobs." i just dont see WHY the kb+m is better, but clearly nobody can explain it.Comment

Re: Flying heli help
I think it depends on the person and what they are more comfortable with. For my the joystick is better but for others its kb+mComment

Re: Flying heli help
I just use KB+...KB? (WASD + Arrows). I don't even touch the mouse. No one else does that.

Re: Flying heli help
Naw Skaggy, its simply because keyboard offers a lot less keys. You can have one thumb play around a whole mess of keys on the JS for example.Comment

Re: Flying heli help
For chops, I like the M/K flying.
I tryed the Joy in the beginning but I cant get used to it.
With over 650 hours of M/KB flying I can fly the chop pretty well.
I think that it will be hard to tell wich way of flying is better, joy or mouse/keyboard or whatever.
It all depents of how skilled the guy is behind the buttons/mouse/joy.
Look at Cors0, he fly's chops like a pro with the Joy.
He is one of the best out there when it comes to extreme chopper flying.
Some of his vids :
Sloi,
Just what (for example) do you think a mouse/kb pilot can do what a joy pilot cant do?Comment
