Re: 50 things you miss about BF2

holey christ that was a long post. my technique for AA sites. sit by it, listen for jet, let him pass over, jump in fire both missles, gtfo, he flares, likely you already hit him once. he's gonna come back looking for a lock, wont see one so he might bomb, thats why you move about 15 feet from AA for his inevitable pass by, get back in fire 2 more missles, 9 times out of 10 you just killed him, (works on J10s just as good, and choppers), if not rinse/repeat. this REALLY frustrates jet pilots off and usually they give up after awhile because like chris said you can hide from a jet all day and he won't kill you, its when you give your position away, (vehicle, AA whatever that you get creamed) i gave blueassault a kdr of .2 an hour ago doing this technique. hes top 5 in world btw.

Because the "deciding factor" needs transport to move on huge areas, needs protection during transport, needs protection while capping flags.

            huh?
Sorry for not reading the bible-like posts!
It's so strange that you argue about something that is really nothing !!

            We have vehicle servers
            We have IO servers
You decide what you want to play
So what is your frikkin problem?

            Concerning the skill question.
Getting a great k/d is easier in a vehicle than as infantry
Facing a vehicle alone as infantry comes close to suicide
If you pwn in a vehicle doesn't mean you can pwn as infantry
If you pwn as infantry it's much more common to pwn in vehicles too

            Fun...
Well it's not fun for ME to be infantry on a vehicle map, being in the middle of a 1 vs 1 infantry battle and then getting killed by a jet, helo, armour, artillery, both enemywise and friendly.
It's not fun for me to sneak up to a far away flag just to get artied at arrival.
Well, most of these things don't happen to me anymore, cause I'm a bit more concerned about all that vehicle superiority.
When playing vehicle maps, I try to get one, If I can't I try to get to a Transport and cap a flag/destroy assets or I go commander.
It's very frustrating at times to be infantry on vehicle maps.

I like IO better. Why? Because it is, as someone pointed out, based on personal skill without a "power multiplier" that vehicles are in deed. There are different weapons but that's OK for me.

The BF2-players have evolved a lot since release of the game, and and not always for good.
vehicle whore rapers spoil the game as do nadespammers (and cheaters, glitchers, hackers)

            So in the end...
            - You prefer vehicles - OK - play vehicles on vehicle servers
            - You prefer infantry - OK - play infantry wherever you want

            That's 2 OK's for each mode!
            Again, what is your problem???

precisely... if you like vehicles, play with vehicles... personally I've been trying to build skill at vehicles but I can't really because the entry point is so bloody ****ing high -- everyone is already so ****ing skilled at them. So basically, people who just get frustrated after being demolished repeatedly (admittedly, I am one of these people, and I'm not really ashamed) go play mostly Infantry only. I play vehicles with a couple buddies of mine every now and then. I don't mind it occasionally. I'm just not that good at it, so I play where I enjoy myself -- IO. And yeah, I'm dominant there. Urban sniper, city maps, super medic, g3 raping, i love it all. But don't call me a stat padder, cause I don't ****ing stat pad, I just play the goddamn game. I think the popularity of IO is a result of the super high difficulty curve with vehicles, so it's too hard to break into the game as a total noob, and if you're a solid infantry guy (like me), well... I just get totally bored having to run back and forth across a million square miles while all the really good people get all the quality vehicles. I'm not knocking either side of the debate, just saying that two sides developed as a result of the game's strengths and faults, and whether or not DICE is responsible for that is up to you, and the choice of which you want to play on isn't necessarily indicative of anything (you can't call someone unskilled just cause they play on servers / in game types where they do well).

I have a collection of truly great videos of various BF2 vehicular artists. Its a rarity, that one can perform that exceptional both in infantry and vehicular aspect of the game. Why? It takes time to learn the "profession".

Great vehicular artists prove your quote wrong every day.

With exceptions on wake and OCS, I rarely receive, or need; protection. When I'm on the battlefield there are two certainties: Either I'm going to get from one end of the field to the other, annihilating everything in my way, or I'll walk 50m and get killed.

There are no variations. Call it what you will, but those are the eventualities.

I'm not so new or useless as to need someone watching over my shoulder in a vehicle.

No ,no, I'm getting used that you quote me wrong!

                      I SAID:
If you pwn in a vehicle doesn't mean you can pwn as infantry
If you pwn as infantry it's much more common to pwn in vehicles too.
Sorry, my english, it's much more likely to pwn in vehicles too.

It is just easier to kill 20 ppl in a tank than with a gun - FACT

It is funny that you just did NOT post this line is said!

You just said what I did: It's a rarity! But, please read carefully, it is easier to pwn in a vehicle, as you are so superior to infantry, getting a lot of kills like this.

And? Which quote do "vehicular artists" (are we in a circus here?) proove me wrong?

Dear Chris, some ppl like me really try to discuss the things seeing them from both sides.
Stop trying to push us to one of the sides, it's getting boring.

I never said, again, that a vehicle player can't play infantry and I never said that an infantry player can't play vehicles.
It is my opinion that an infantry player has less difficulties to pwn in a vehicle than a vehicle player has to pwn as infantry. That's why they are always waiting on the carrier, isn't it?
For sure there are players that can dominate (and dominate is not pwning in my opinion, because I can pwn one round and suck the other - if I dominate, I, well, dominate always, well, not actually me though) both, but these are rare

PLEASE don't use the points argument. It's so much easier to score in IO than it is in vehicles.
Let's do some math with my helo stats:

                        Kills+Roadkills: 31,693+1,407 = 33,100 kills
                        Deaths: 5,516
                        K/D Ratio: 6.0
                        Kill Score: 33,100*2 = 66,200
Driver points (assuming 85% of mine were in the helo): 8,551*0.85 = 7,268
                        Time: 281:48:34 => 281*60 + 48 = 16,908 min

                        Score Per Minute: (66,200+7,268)/16,908 = 4.34
(not realistic approximation because I am not counting the time I wait for it)

Now stats for an account I used mainly playing IO:

                        SPM: 5.95
                        KDR: 2.34

While my SPM and KDR is considerably high in choppers, I am a lousy infantry player with a relatively low KDR but still a much higher SPM. And that's not considering the time I have to WAIT for the chopper - which would cut down the SPM.

Again, It's much easier to score in IO than in vehicles.

Backpeddaling. You are trying to convince me that someone who has player infantry mostly will more likely own in a vehicle than vice versa. Dont try to hide it behind hypocrisy.

Its all 50:50. In my book, until a certain point where skill needs to be matched with equal or higher, its easier to kill vehicles as infantry, than vice versa. (note how I put it into words).

It is just easier to kill 20 ppl in a tank than with a gun - FACT
Its easier to kill 20 people in a tank IF you are experienced enough to kill 20 people in the tank. Fact is- put 2 AT soldiers against a newbstar and he will not do anything in that tank. Karkand Hotel is not something you should base your arguments on as its filled with statpadders who would rather die to the tank, than leave the body unrevived.

You just said what I did: It's a rarity! But, please read carefully, it is easier to pwn in a vehicle, as you are so superior to infantry, getting a lot of kills like this.
If youre new to vehicles, you will get pounded to the dust. Take PlaneWhores Mashtuur video for example, he was constantly capitalizing from the inability of the opposition to switch kits. You witness this in many maps. Get a few AT troops that give a damn, and the Tank is downed. And as I said, its easy until the tanker has significant ammount of skill. Then again, youre talking numbers, so do I- 20 kills isnt all that pretty when theres more than 10 deaths behind it. And in case of new players, thats an even higher figure.

And? Which quote do "vehicular artists" (are we in a circus here?) proove me wrong?
Gizmo|Camaxide, google his video. Thats "art", what he does. Quite literally. You cannot tell me that guy isnt skilled.

I have been on the receiving end of the barrel, and it didnt break the game for me. On the contrary, I like to be the David against the Goliath, especially when I choose to run.

It is my opinion that an infantry player has less difficulties to pwn in a vehicle than a vehicle player has to pwn as infantry. That's why they are always waiting on the carrier, isn't it?
No it isnt. With my puny 2:1 Assault KDR, I can still manage to do OK on the ground. I often sit on the carrier because I like flight aspect, and mostly because theres noone else to do the job that is required. You take a grunt with 1500 hours in karkand and I will maul him into pieces in less than 2 seconds once he takes off. Fact.

Pilots are perhaps one of the most "unfair" players on the ground.

No, what he is saying is that it is easier for a person who plays infantry to do well in vehicles than it is for someone who plays vehicles to do well in infantry. If an infantry player gets in a vehicle he still has the force multiplier of the vehicle, however if a vehicle player goes infnatry he does not have any force multiplier.

Its all 50:50. In my book, until a certain point where skill needs to be matched with equal or higher, its easier to kill vehicles as infantry, than vice versa. (note how I put it into words).

Pshaw. It is easier for a noob to take down a jet as infatry then for a noob in a jet to kill said infantry? Give me a break, worst comes to worse the noob in the jet can still ram the ***** and pick up a kill

Its easier to kill 20 people in a tank IF you are experienced enough to kill 20 people in the tank. It is easier for a player in a tank to go 20 and 0 than it is for an infantry player. No doubt about it. You need less skill in your area of expertise to get a high K/D in a tank compared to getting the same K/D in infantry. Stop denying the blatant truth.

If youre new to vehicles, you will get pounded to the dust. Even someone new to vehicles, in your own words, requires multiple infnatry to kill them. A noob in infantry would be owned by one decent player in infantry. Again, it is easier to survive in a vehicle.

Gizmo|Camaxide, google his video. Thats "art", what he does. Quite literally. You cannot tell me that guy isnt skilled.

Seen it, pixel shots. So, one tanker does some art? He does not represent the general users of vehicles at all. Stop trying to play games by finding the best examples to suit your arguement.

I agree to disagree and agree only when I see that its acceptable in common, not for me. You guys are acting as if vehicles are the fingers of god, they are far from it. You like to be David vs. Goliath? Your the one flying jets with 1,500 hours in them. Tell me how that makes you David? You like to be Goliath against David. Vehicles are not the fingers of god, but they are closer to it than infantry, and infantry does all the important and necessary work. You may not agree with I/O mode, but a game of Conquest BF2 can still easily be played out on it, could a jet only option do that? No, it is infantry that do the work that is supposed to be done in BF2.

No it isnt. With my puny 2:1 Assault KDR, I can still manage to do OK on the ground.
