After 3 rounds it wore off quick for me. It feels like a bland/boring version of Operation Smoke Screen. I know they didn't model it off of that, but they could have easily looked at the sucess (or lack there of) of OSS and have gone with something else. I'll accept any new map, but please keep them coming, eventually they'll make another good one. :dead:

Guys i need help, my problem is i downloaded this map 3 times now nd still i cant c it in the list i tried SP nd MP both accounts but i cant c it in the GOD DAM LIST! so plz guys help me if u can im realy dieing to play this map cuz i love URBAN WARFARE!!!!!! i know this THREAD is about thoughts on the map not for solving problems so im sry to post my prob here but i need help. It's more desert then urban, that's for sure. Good luck on getting it fixed.

P.S. After downloading the map, did you run the .exe to install it?

Played few rounds on this map, it's great!!
One big issue tho - sun glare. And PLEASE, no attack choppers - it's great armor map.

needs more armour, maybe some bunkers for cover too? no to helos, they would just rape everybody, not a bad map imo, good to see that bf2 hasnt been left to quietly slip away, even tho the map has some blatant advertising! :p

A huge map like that without attack helicopters just doesn't look like BF2.

PS: I'm imagining here how would an I/O 64 of this Tampa thing would be... ROFL's.

I've been checking IO, haven't seen one running Highway Tampa yet.

Edit - About that sun glare, it's kinda' weird. I really noticed it's weirdness in the jet. It was like the sun was shining up from the ground...that's my only complaint thus far.

I was expecting a nice balanced map, a lush map with greenery, but instead I get a vehicle whore fest with an utterly boring desert landscape.

I will personally endure any advertising on Billboards should it mean that BF2 will get more official maps.

However, I would prefer that DICE do themselves a favor, and start becoming chummy with the mod community. These are people who have perfected the art of map making through trial and error, playtesting, more playtesting and even more playtesting. Their input could hardly hurt.

Another suggestion would be to finally cave in and make a PLA vs MEC Infantry Based Map (8 transports, 1 tank each side, no attack helicopters, no jets), a PLA vs MEC small vehicle map (12 transports, 2 Tanks each side, 1 APC each side, 1 Attack Helicopter each side), and a PLA vs MEC jet based map (12 transports, 2 tanks each side, 1 APC each side, 1 Mobile AA each side, 1 attack helicopter each side, 1 Bomber Jet each side, 1 Fighter Jet each side).

Well put lad! I think that EA should be looking through these forums! For stuff like this!

open C:\ProgramFiles\EAGAMES\Battlefield2\mods\bf2\Leve ls\Highway_Tampa\Info

and see if the .desc file name is the same as the name of the map, if not, rename and try again, I heard this causes maps not to appear on the list but I duno how it happens

Thats what I thought. As soon as the server screen was up and loading, and I sore the map picture, the first thought was, 'Oh here we go ,another fking dust bole POS'. And I was correct. This map consists of flat desert, and a few poles here then there surrounded by crates of "Intel Core Two Duo".

And why the need for a Beta? Its one freaking map, cant these fools create a map?

Played 3 rds today.....wasnt impressed at all. Actually thought it was kinda lame. Way to spread open. Maybe the full release will have some changes in it.
