Re: Tampa Map - your thoughts
Way way way to big. That one guy is right, it is a teamwork map.
Now, how many pubbers do you know that use teamwork?
It'd be great with a 32 vs. 32 clan map.
In my honest opinion, I think it is to try and show gamers that EA isn't going to let it drop out, but it is probably just a cover up.
The billboards are annoying as hell. Does EA even support core 2 duo? ha. if they don't what tards.
Anyone else catch the irony in the description?? They need to "gather intel". lol
Predag, the method of advertising is a new wave, it is called "advergaming". I mentioned it and DECA and they thought it was so brilliant they sent me to state. The biggest example of advergaming is the game "America's Army". That game is the army's biggest recruiting tool. http://money.howstuffworks.com/advergaming1.htm is a link for more info.
I'm going to be a marketing major, can you tell?

Re: Tampa Map - your thoughts
I posted earlier and liked this map... I still like it... very fun...
ONLY COMPLAINT
There are few servers to play on where I get good ping + enough players + friendly fire. Honestly, I dont know why FFOFF servers are even allowed to be ranked. I am embarassed to even be seen on a FFOFF server what kind of sissy play is that, sheesh!Comment

Re: Tampa Map - your thoughts
what's different about advertising on a game compared to TV, newspaper, magazines, billboards etc...
Its a way to make money (because thats what businesses do), give us free maps because they are sponsored (which people like you always whine about) and it means Intel and EA are working together which can only mean good things.Comment

Re: Tampa Map - your thoughts
My thoughts after playing 5 rounds of Tampa today;
1.) A tank map
Definitely a tank map. The winning team will be the one that works together and rampages the landscape in one big clump of armor.
Add to that the magical abilities of an engineer to repair friendly tanks without leaving his own tank, the group will be virtually unstoppable. The only way to counter this column is an equal amount of magic-weilding engie tank drivers.
2.) Anti-Tanker's Paradise?
Hardly. My top class in BF2 is the Anti-tank. I've killed thousands of tanks, a few choppers and a handful of low-flying jets.
This map is ridiculous though. I run out of ammo fast. 5 rockets (which don't do **** vs engie tanks) is as effective against advancing tanks as a gnat. I did get the usual kills as I played the rounds, but all I did is keep firing rocket after rocket. Believe me, it's not as fun as it would be on another map. As soon as I kill the one tank, 2 more appear. All I did was scream "Need more ammo" for 3 solid hours. Most of my ammo was picked up from nearby ally AT who just died. The map is too huge to have supplies dropped when needed, no supply guys around to give you ammo.
3.) Teamwork needed
Without a strong group of guys to team up with, your team will soon be in a shambles and scattered and stranded at various points of the map. Once the enemy gets rolling, there'll be no stopping them.
As usual, there is no commander on my team. As usual, there's some stupid bug on the server I play on that prevents making squads.
4.) Stranded
There are not enough vehicles on this map. Several minutes I just sat and twiddled my thumbs, or attempted the 1000 mile hike to the next flag - which wasn't very exciting. Just like in UT2K4 with the huge maps, they became unpopular because infantry got stranded, or the action was so intermittent the map size caused it to get boring.
Balance issues
Every round ended 200-0, no matter if I was on the winning team or the losing team. Winning consisted of rampaging with engie tanks from flag to flag until the enemy got stranded at a flag and couldn't leave to cap another one. Finish them off - done. Yawn.
Bottom line
Will I be playing it past tonite? Maybe a couple more times, but not long term.
Way too boring overall with all the prior points made.Comment

very good point on the anti-tank.
The only real kit for sure to use on this map is eng. You can play Anti-tank on the map, but only for a short amount of time, like if your defending a flag til reinforcements arrive. I do aguee with the amount of vehs. Their are tons of tanks, but mostly everyone gets one, before everyone can get into them. I say just add either more tanks to even it out or give us more buggies to ride around in.Comment
