I can safely say BF2 has THE worst community of any game I have ever played.

If you haven't converted to Project Reality you are quite frankly in my humble opinion an absolute moron. I won't compromise on that.

The fact that Project Reality is a NICHE PRODUCT alone says that not all can possibly enjoy it, regardless of their mental capacity.

The fact that you advertise a niche product to be the only way to play a vanilla game, in my not that humble opinion marks you as a retard, and on that I will not compromise either.

Trust me, if I required everyone here to agree with my opinion, I would have left these forums A LONG time ago.

BF2 is the only game I know where people are actually willing to go out of there way to ruin others games. Its the only game where one person can ruin a 64 player game. Its the only game where mods are called crap. And its the only game I know that has a good part of its servers devoted to giving players free points (Medics in IO).

So agree or disagree, I really dont care. But the fact of the matter is, when your own community desires a fundamentally broken game over SEVERAL top-notch mods, something is very, very wrong.

Project Reality, POE2, And Forgotten Hope 2 are the only things keeping BF2 on my machine these days. I advise those who are willing to try different things than running around Karkand all day with a G36 to sit down and try these mods that dozens of people have put their sweat, blood, and tears into.

BF2 was a good game. I hate alot about the game. I hate the developers even more (not trauma studios) for their lack of patches and the fact they totally scrapped SF not bothering to fix the constant lag issue that plagues the choppers, and the TV guided Missile bug that plagues both Vanilla and SF. Lets not forget the stupid J-10. Wake Island has the ability to be a good map, when we get a good pilot like Metallica in the server that flys the F-35B and takes it down. There is good pilots but alot of them just aren't playing Wake.

It'd be a better game if TV guided missiles went back to the way they were when the game started, and I don't mean just the range but the part where mostly ever pilot had a good old fashion helo vs helo with dumb fire and the gunner sit helplessly firing off his machine gun when he got the chance, when gunning when SOLO GUIDING wasn't even thought of. It takes little skill to fire a TV missile and hit someone while your hovering 100 feet either above them or below them, from god knows how far off.

Most of your so called good gunners that call them selves good can't hit **** infront of them or react in a risky situation. They are only good at making those long and easy shots, where they have 10 seconds to make the necessary adjustments. I suck with the TV Guided missile but about 13-14k of my kills from the start of BF2 came from the dumb fire rockets on Vanilla helos, and I could rape Infantry, tanks, APCs, and even AA. Then of course it required a bit of skill to kill a helicopter with a stinger.

Lets not forget about the useless blackhawk. We can go on and on but it never gets fixed. EA will never fix what we ask them to. Its debated by more then half this forums. Alot of above is my opinion but most of it is proves to be true at some time or another. I still don't think these mods are better. I really looked forward to POE2 but they decided to leave out the detailed cockpits in the helos so I was kind of turned off to it, and the lack of servers to.

Infantry use to be fun it still can be when someone isn't spamming grenades or glitched in a wall. However I think Armored Fury is still fun, and SF is fun to. I like vanilla and I will play it till something better comes out to take over, and that will eventually happen.

I just can't agree that PR or even DCON is any different or better. They all have their flaws. DCON has the easiest AA I've ever used, and I sucked as a Jet pilot and felt good about myself when I got into that jet in DCON, and racked up 60 kills off my fellow helicopter whores and other jets.
Community is pretty good yeah there is some pretty foul players infact almost every server is full of people who TK for the helicopter they cannot fly. Your right vanilla has gotten bad but it is still fun. Its what makes BF2 I suppose and its all we got. CS:S has the worst community and its a crappy game imo.

Muzzle flash hasn't been removed completely - it's simply less pronounced.

I know you own and use firearms, so I'm sure you are aware muzzle flash generally isn't as significant as it is in movies or vBF2.

I decided to try the DCon mod earlier last night because the forum posts made it sound like the helis were impossible to fly. What can I say, I like a challenge...

Instead, I found the most perfect vehicle possible: the Apache. What were they trying to do, make the most overpowered chopper in the game? They sure succeeded. Holy crap!

If that heli was in vanilla, nothing could stop me. Nothing. It's just that sweet. The rest of them are a little more realistic in the sense that they require a lot more input to fly properly, which is good.

I didn't get a chance to play online with my crappy connection, but I suspect it blows the pants off vanilla.

And I wasnt trying to say BF2 was a bad game per se, just...broken.

And Sloi, I take it you never played Desert combat either, but the helos have always been very fun to fly. I cant wait until I can play it

On that note, anyone know why PR and vBF2 run fine for me but Dcon gets really low FPS?

Yup, first time I tried DC and I'm impressed so far. It's kind of difficult for me to get a feel for the game because I don't have the chance to play online.

Hell, I can't even sample PR's choppers because it requires other players granting me the kit to fly them. :S

Start a local server and type this in the console.


sv.NumPlayersNeededToStart 1

Create a squad, request the Pilot kit (beside a main flag, or right beside the helicopter) and enjoy :).

Mods are the way to go, at least for me. People play for fun, not for stats. That's what vanilla should be like.

I think the reason people don't like mods is because they dont realize that their bunnyhopping medic tactics or Cobra whoring just wont work like it does in BF2.
