    Flying and gunning is easy.

It's getting up off of the ground thats hard.

Too often there are thousands of lemmings on your team all vying for the same helicopter that you want, and often times even if you do manage to get into the helicopter with one of them; they turn out to be more incompetant than a Bush family member at an enviromentalist rally.

Solo'ing on Dalian Plant is my only salvaging factor, since there are four helicopters on this stage. Still; often matches turn into little games of, "Mine Mine Mine!" with other people who want to solo by themselves as well. Then theres the J-10's and F35B's chain bombing the attack helicopter spawn points... Then you have admins who want the helicopter for themselves; and are willing to use their power to get it...

Once I actually do get off of the ground by myself (To solo), I usually go for at least a half an hour before I'm downed by a lucky plane or IGLA/Stinger. Then the whole process of getting up off the ground starts again.

Somebody once told me that those who can't fly, groundpound.

I retort by saying that those who can't deal with the thousands of wannabe fly-boys, groundpound.

there is nothing more annoying than waiting 10+ mins for plane/heli only to be shot by ur own team mate or be destoryed as you take off.

if someone does that to me i make sure i get revenge i take note of who did it then make sure to do everything in my power to KILL them:)

lol, its time to get over yourself.

and BTW bf2s says your average lifespan in a helicopter is 3.18 minutes

So you support people who solo with helos ? Soloing is lame and rude to other players who have rights to get in also. It is 2 seated chopper.

I didn't realize BF2s had those kinds of stats. I'd love a link, so I could view my progress.

I don't really know what the average lifespan of a person in a helicopter is though. 3 minutes sounds about right though. I'm sure if I made a new account and tried solo'ing on it solely, we'd get a more accurate number on my performance today, than the average result of three weeks of learning curves and hard knocks lessons.

Short answer?: Yes. I support solo'ing now.

I could easily write you a term paper on my opinions and reasoning as to why.

Minutes spent in heli / deaths in heli, simple maths.

Go on, do that then, and show everyone. Somehow I doubt they'll be as impressive as you say they will be, what with your 29 hours experience in heli and 1000 kills...

Why wouldn't you support soloing. Unless I'm with my clan member, soloing is the only way I can be a viable asset to my team in an air map. 8v8 matches...the chopper maps really don't give much leeway to allowing two people in the chopper at once, leaving 6 people to attack on foot. Especially maps like Dragon 16, awesome solo map. It is a trade skill and a somewhat guarded secret(I'm no talking about basic switch and shoot) for those who know how to use a helicopter.

Did you know that Churrasco has an average of 2.94 minutes in a helicopter then?

                    199 x 60 = 19940 / 4,058 = 2.94

I'd love to post another comparison, but I don't know the main account names of the more well known Helicopter pilots/gunners/solo'ers.

Doing so would be done out of foolish pride, in hopes of redeeming myself in the eyes of people who've already prejudged me. Thats what SerialButcher did, when I made fun of his Infantry Stats. True they were much better, but it didn't stop people from poking fun.

I'll do you one better, by simply improving my game on the account I have now. I'll never stop piloting for other people, but at the same time I'll gladly take up any chance I can to solo. Feel free to check in and comment on my stats as they continue to progress.

All this thread is about is the ventilation of frustrations regarding Helicopters.

I don't think your math is accurate. Prove me wrong, but isn't it beaths by helicopter, not deaths in helicopter?

Re: Flying and gunning is easy.

no it is deaths in helicopter

which means the whole average time thing is pretty pointless, because you can just bail before you get shot down and there it seems you've lasted longer in the air but you haven't

and i'm all for soloing if i've had to put up with a 2 striper thats doing all the trademarks: chaingun on tank, doesn't know about TV even after i tell them how to use it, doesn't notice when i spot spam targets for him (and i'm the pilot with a restricted veiw(that being said i do use the ctrl look alot))

i've got you on xfire dairuka, would love to fly / gun with you sometime :)

Sorry to say this Dairuka but in that case you have been agains poor pilots. Usually no copter can hadle more than three attacks of mine when I notice one. Most of the time it goes down with my first attack, second if I make some estimation mistake during the first run. If helo pilot is good he can prolong it up to three attempts. Then it over, and I'm just an average pilot. There are lots of better ones in the field.

Otherwise your are right. Why don't people practise on empty servers before entering the vehicle. I mean if you like flying around, buy MS Flight simulator, it's much better for that and the one don't make people frustrated. During past three weeks I have teach at least 4 players to improve their skills. I still do practising on my own on empty servers, it's fun and keep my piloting skills up to date. (Especially now when I purchased a new joystick)

When ever someone enters the server I'm practising I always ask them to join me and if they are novices, it only takes 15 minutes to teach them the basics. After that they will not waste the hardware in massive scale. I don't expect my co-pilot (gunner or pilot) to be superior but expect them to know how to use the weaponry or be capable of handling at least basic maneuvering.

I accept soloing because its basically doen for the same reasons I fly a jet- unlimited freedom to put 100% of your own resources into action and through this, have 100% of your own fun and blame. Cant go wrong there.
