Exactly, they're jumping because they're avoiding hit detection. As I had said earlier, the other players ARE hitting them, it's just not registering properly when they're hopping about. This is why there is such a raging debate across many games if it's an exploit or not.
I agree with you that dolphin-diving (or at least a slower version of repeated dive->proning remains), I've posted a topic regarding that and the apparent 'increase in accuracy' afforded to those who have figured out how to exploit it.
It's like the developer wanted to include the "OMFG, i pulled off the most amazing shot today" moments in the game, so programmed it in. "OMFG, this guy was shooting me, then I did a jump->strafe->turn->triple axle->dive->prone and totally shot this guy in the head BAM!" :/
Wrong again. I don't bunnyhop out of choice. I'm at the top of the charts most games, without doing so. Many of the deadliest players that put me down are also not bunnyhopping. They're very good shots.
