Bunny Hopping & Dolphin Diving

I was in a IO Karkand, came around a corner and there was three enemy there that immediately saw me. I turned away, was jumping and running to try to get away. They caught right up to me and killed me. I was then kicked from the server for 'Bunny Hopping & Dolphin Diving". What?!? That was 'bunny hopping'? Should I have just stood there, let them kill me and not try to get away?

I thought 'bunny hopping' was being able to shoot while jumping, or C4 tossing while jumping around, which of course was eliminated a few patches ago. I don't like being kicked from servers much, and I am more than willing to play by whatever rules a server has. I always felt that instead of complaining about someones tactics to stay alive or to get kills, you should learn them yourself. So, what gives? Was that 'bunny hopping'?, ...and I have never been really clear on what 'dolphin diving' is. I wonder if a server admin can just decide whatever they want it is, and if you jump away and then kill them, they will kick you for it. So, what do you think, was that a kickable offense?

yeah, you bunnyhopped. bunnyhopping is simply jumping to avoid fire. dolphin diving is going prone then getting up & repeating. hard to do after the last patches.

Well, I think everyone jumps every once in awhile, I know I do out of "instinct" sometimes, from playing other games where it is widely accepted....the only thing is, is that it really does not help you in this game anyway....I can kill someone just as easily if they are jumping or not.... just change where you are aiming..

jumping is a part of the game, when will people accept that ?

yes you can still bunny hop but it is nowhere as effective since you can't jump and shoot anymore, you can't dolphin dive if you do you can probably do it once or twice before you get shot while getting up (delay)

There should be no more "NO bunny hopping / dolphin dive or BAN" server rules since, imo its not REALLY the same thing anymore, its more.. walrus diving, can do it once and then struggle to get up... bunny hopping is more... pogo sticking away from danger... :hmm:

I bunnyhop whenever I get shot, I look for them, then I shoot them in the face. Sounds like you adventured into a *** server.

I mainly play IO RtJ, and if Im sniping and a group of guys rush me, I bunny hop whilst reloading. Its either sit there and let both the noobs and advanced players nail me, or hop and at least avoid the noobs.

seriously tho, its just common reaction...like it or not its hard to un-learn.
Ive tried to play hopless, but its like second nature to rapidly start pressing my space bar as I start to take fire.
One thing to be honest tho...bunny hopping in a game were bullets go were they are shot can be pointless...bunny hopping in Bf2 with random deviation is applied can save you IMO since your moving your position as well as having the "shooter" move his stream of fire.
Dolphin diving is kind of gone..it is still possible to go insta prone then use crouch to get up to avoid the delay...check Metalicas sig. (I think its him) for a great video of what DD really is.

I was thinking the same thing.. pretty lame of them to kick you for it too.

As far as I am concerned, bunny-hopping was a legit grounds for a kick pre-patch; there should be no excuses for dying these days to someone who is hopping around and can't shoot back at you; if that's the case, blame yourself and your poor aim.

exactly...

no when you are taking fire, you suck if you jump around like a fool......the better players will take cover and fire back....killing their enemy.....not hoppin along like a douche....out in the open vulnerable and unable to fire
