The powerful gun doesn't make a person skilled, the skilled person makes the powerful gun more powerful.

If the world's best CAL players took the time to get used to the nuances of the G36E, I can guarantee that they'd do just as well, if not better than they would with the AK-101.

You can argue it if you want; but the only thing that matters in the end is how you use your gun.

      LOL. This is funny.

Strip Touch my balls“ posts from overexaggeration or slightly humorous insults and he is absolutely right.

Why do you have medic squads roaming around with G36Es? Same reason youve got DAO fighters, same reason you used to see plenty of PKM generals. Its the same reason why people were taking G36C over M4A1 (less so over AKS47U). Unlocks ARE better weapons. Theres no question about it.

G36E is just as TMB descibed it- a laser weapon. Once you run with a gun and fire it, and feel as if you are experiencing no damage penatly compared to all other guns, you gotta stop and think about it. Is it better or not?

And while I strongly disagree with the statement that unlocks are for noobs, the statement that unlocks are a simplifiying option for newbie (and all, at that matter) players is 100% correct.

Some of you have to pull your heads out of the sand for a change.

Also, when it comes to weapons, fortunately a newbie wont be better than seasoned veterans, so maybe except for the DAO in close range, weapons and unlocks dont work like J10 works in the skies.

What I'm aware of, Dice Canada made expansion packs and patches, not the people who made the game. BF2 was born nearly perfect, until some idiots ruined it.

For some reason I consider players with stock weapons much better than unlockers. Maybe it's because those do not pose a threat to me, unlike stock weapons users, because they might be smart enough to beat me I don't know if it's because those players never use unlocks or because unlocks aren't that good. But let's face it. Only unlock which probably can outgun a stock weapon is G36E? And why's that? I really don't know because I find even M16 far better. Simply put: if you use unlocks you'll never be considered above average public fragger. If you don't, and instead DAO or P90 you frag with MP5 and M16 you're immediately a better player, since you may even know something because it's possible that you have experience in organized match's and tournaments and teamplay.

And truth is that constant 32vs32 fragfest will quickly melt your brains. And isn't that what most unlock noobs mostly do? And when was the last time you played 16p?

And btw: I have played a lot with G36E and it's absolute opposite of M16. There's nothing common in tactics with those weapons. And after all, Any weapon kills with two headshots and if you become good enough to aim for the head, it's only that what matters.

          Unlocks are essential.

No one talks up the stock AT submachine gun for the chinese. (Type 85?) It's utter crap. Far and away the worst gun in the game. Therefore u gotta get the DOA or P90 if u wanna at least compete. How do they go in CAL with this peashooter? (bet they don't even use the gun when AT kit - probably just rocket every infantry they see, while bunnyhopping about like mad)

Progress man, progress. They were having this argument when the car was invented. Snob horse riders were screaming "NOOB" at the Model T Ford as it whizzed past.

You calling my best friend peashooter? Well let me introduce him a bit better then. Actually it has identical specs to MP5, and MP5 rocks. So it's purely psychological problem which clan players have to overcome. And while doing that you learn a great deal of other things you'd never even know otherwise. That's one reason why non-unlockers are generally better.

Got this off another forum about random deviation on bf2 weapons

"No. BF2Pro rewards good players by making the bullets actually hit where the crosshair is placed, instead of everywhere around it, like in vanilla BF2. The biggest problem with accuracy in BF2 is that the developers use random deviation instead of gun recoil to compensate for the fact that aiming with a mouse is easier than aiming with an actual gun. And the random part of random deviation is what's bad - anytime a game relies on random calculations to determine how a player's input affects his or her environment, any skill that player has may be negated by the inherently unreliable nature of the game's calculations."

this is probably why the g36e is so good because the bullets actually hit where you aim.

True. How the saying go..."a bad workman always blames his tools".

Except all the pump shotguns are woeful. Oh they can kill, but the chambering of a new round is way tooo slow IMHO. I survive a lot longer bailing out of armour as an Engineer with the Jackhammer at my side.

My opinion (not bothering to read the rest right now), no they're not. And those complaining that they are, are almost always just complaining because they get aced by someone who is genuinely a good player using the unlocks. Are they n00bish? Hell no, is something n00bish just because it's ever so slightly better then it's original? Hail no.

Is Noble Rotter a n00b for using the Jackhammer over the M11? Hail no (sorry dude, just making a point with the only helpful post in my view right now XD)

If these unlocks really are n00bish (which in the end is a simple matter of opinion, I've never n00bed or acted like one and I use them) I'll hang my BF2 boots up and go play UT.

Re: Unlocks noob or not noob debate

Ok, I won't say unlocks are for noobs, because you have to have some experience, just to get them. I will say, if you use them, you are hurting your skills developement, and you, in the end, are not a better player. Unlocks are for the unskilled, or frustrated. If we happen to go one on one, and you kill me with a regular weapon, good job, you out played me that time. But, if you kill me with an unlock, it sort of cheapens the kill, and doesn't mean as much. To liken the use of unlocks to other sports, its like playing basketball with the baskets lowered (doesnt mean as much), or being beat on a golf course because the other guy was given strokes, rather than being beat straight-up (also, doesnt mean as much). Guys that don't use unlocks are better players, ...because they have to be.

I would like to see a CAL or TWL 5V5 match with guys that are used to using unlocks, verses guys that don't. Not alot of question about the outcome. In fact, I would be willing to bet (not much), that if that team were allowed to use unlocks, they would still get beat, because skills will still win out.

Unlocks are like a crutch, or a bad habit. Who is the better player, a player with a KDR of 1.5 that always uses unlocks, or a player with the same KDR that doesn't? I play alot of IO servers and very, very rarely use unlocks. (I won't say never, because sometimes I pick up a kit, and I'm not going to not use it, just because its an unlock). The only one I might use is the L96, and thats only because when sniping, I like to actually hit what I'm aiming at. There is something extra sweet about killing a guy with a M16, that is holding a F2000. You wanna play with unlocks? ...go for it, your just the guy I'm gunning for.

                    p.s. right on markan dorka!

Unlocks are not newb weapons. This whole debate is childish and pointless.

Really, some of you take this game way way WAY too seriously.

After reading this thread I started wondering whether there is any aspect of the game that people don't whine about.

For Assault, Sniper, Engineer, and Support the unlocks are not better than the stock weapons, just different. Personally I like the option to play with a variety of weapons. For the AT class the DAO is a lot better than the SMGs, but then the AT class is the hardest class to play even with the DAO, so why whine about that?

That leaves Medics and the G36E. If you have an issue with that particular gun then why try to make it into an issue with all of the unlocks?
