It isn't really a debate, it's a fact. 99% of the time I use standard weapons, even with the AK/M16 there is an element of "aiming", at least as far as the BF2 engine will believable replicate. On the occasion I run out of ammo and pick one up, or get revived with a G36E, I remember why everyone likes it, it's a no skill nescessary laser gun. You don't even have to use iron sights at distance, you just center the crosshairs and what's inside of them dies.
And it's a no brainer when comparing the DAO vs the MP5. While I know a few players that are highly competent with the MP5/PP-19, the DAO is the ultimate spray and pray noob alley cleanser.
There's only two weapons that I think are outshined by their standard counterparts (in the hands of the average player), that's the M95/L96A1, the US rifle is the same, and the MEC basic is a semiauto dream and the MK23 or whatever the engineer semiauto shotgun is. The M1187 and the SK12 rape.
