It isn't really a debate, it's a fact. 99% of the time I use standard weapons, even with the AK/M16 there is an element of "aiming", at least as far as the BF2 engine will believable replicate. On the occasion I run out of ammo and pick one up, or get revived with a G36E, I remember why everyone likes it, it's a no skill nescessary laser gun. You don't even have to use iron sights at distance, you just center the crosshairs and what's inside of them dies.

And it's a no brainer when comparing the DAO vs the MP5. While I know a few players that are highly competent with the MP5/PP-19, the DAO is the ultimate spray and pray noob alley cleanser.

There's only two weapons that I think are outshined by their standard counterparts (in the hands of the average player), that's the M95/L96A1, the US rifle is the same, and the MEC basic is a semiauto dream and the MK23 or whatever the engineer semiauto shotgun is. The M1187 and the SK12 rape.

Unlocks give no advantage to anyone. They are in so way superior, it is the person shooting the weapon, and DICE's random deviation :)

The ak-47 is a junkpile for me, the sights do not line up with where the bullets go, and I suck with it, as I use iron sights all the time.

Are you slow or something? Are you oblivious to the complete concept of what the discussion at hand is about? The discussion being, are unlocks for noobs...simply put, if a weapon offers little in the way of ability to use (G36Es laser abilities for example), it lends itself to being a better choice for a lesser player. Since you qouted me, try to re-read what I said, and actually apply at least a third grade education to how it expands on the concept. ok, ok, here

standard weapons + "harder" to use (for the most part) = requires practice and skill to get good with.

Unlocks + easier to kill with = better for "noobs"

I personally don't give a damn what weapon someone uses, I plow through squads of G36E medics like butter with the AK, but it is pretty boring using the G36E when all I have to do is point and everything dies.

That's load of bull. Some medics do take out noobs with l85 from distance, but i will not regonize these claymorewhores as snipers. If you're stupid enough to get killed by l85, you deserve to die and need to learn from your mistake.

But anyways, back to topic. It's war, meaning that you kill your enemy. By any means necessary.

since you quoted ME please re read what i said and you will under stand that this statement that i quoted proves that first people like you attack unlock by saying they suck and stock is better then you switch arguments by saying they are overpowered, i understand you concept that better weapon = less skill but ever think that a skilled player with a brain doesnt care what people think if he weild what you call a "laser weapon" but only see that skilled player + great gun = pwnag3.

I see all you stock supremacist as one which is why i ask you all to agree on either an argument that they are noob because of them being overpowered or they are a waste of time because they suk.

Re: Unlocks noob or not noob debate

Just because I think you might be on the brink of comprehending...

unlock = "overpowered" = good for lower skilled players, that's the arguement that most people who prefer standard weapons use. Granted, some people that prefer standard weapons use unlocks being "overpowered" as an excuse for just sucking at life. And no, I don't attack unlocks, I don't care at all about them. I don't use them because in competition we don't, so it's stupid to get used to them, I see a lot of clans that pub all the time use them, and they decide to compete and get face raped, then call everyone hacker, which is gayer than calling someone that uses an unlock "noob".

i understand you concept that better weapon = less skill but ever think that a skilled player with a brain doesnt care what people think if he weild what you call a "laser weapon" but only see that skilled player + great gun = pwnag3.
Um, yea, that's what I said. It doesn't really matter if they have a brain, just a preference. To some AKs/M16s are great guns, and = pwnag3.

Re: Unlocks noob or not noob debate

I personally like the unlocks. I do acknowledge the fact that some are for noobs. But some require skill to use. I agree with everything that Touch my b**** has said. Most just do not need iron-sight aiming. ESPECIALLY the G36E. I don't however go shouting in chat about a "noob" using an unlock. I get payback by killing him with an L85. A list of the weapons I think take skill:

Medic: L85 on full auto. Simply pwns when you get in CQC. Takes skill to bring down two G36E wielding medics on full auto.

Support: PKM. I have been called a hacker various times with this because other people can't work it. Takes skill to control the recoil.

Assault: G3. Takes skill to learn how to conserve due to the 20 clip.

Sniper: M95. Takes skill to learn how to use the crosshairs and land a bullet on the target.

Engineer: MP7. Piss poor damage. I did however achieve my Veteran Engineer Combat badge with it and only it.

Anti-Tank: P-90. Melts infantry but needs a lot of control because of recoil.

                    Spec-Ops: I generally use the M4...

After reading all your threads, i worked out whats wrong, those that dont like the unlocks are those who always get killed, and most likely uses them theirselves. And those who do use them actually know what they are there for.

Re: Unlocks noob or not noob debate

The argument that all unlocks are for noobs is a complete shower of arse. Apart from the G36E which does have a marked advantage over every other infantry weapon, but then I don't begrudge people for using it in the slightest. Personally I prefer the AK-101 for fun skull popping ownage, but that's just me. 90% of the time I'm playing as AT on servers with actual map rotations, as opposed to IO 24/7 Karkand hell, groundpounding with my trusty P90.

Engineer: MP7. Piss poor damage. I did however achieve my Veteran Engineer Combat badge with it and only it.
I've recently fell in love with this weapon due to the sound/general feel of it. Quick few bursts to the head and they're down.

no gun is hard to use nor is it better for a newer group of players. if the hit detection worked their wouldn't be a need for unlocks.

i personally think that the AK series is the easiest to use. in CQC its just deals the damage. at distance on semi you can easily nail targets.

i use a good mixture, and it all depends really on the map and situ. if i can use the RPK i will, if i cant i'll use the MG36, if i cant get an AK-47 i'll use the M16 or L85.

oh and for stock weapons the EU guns are rather 'no0by' if you like

Re: Unlocks noob or not noob debate

                                IMO, it's really rather simple

Ppl in competition won't use unlocks, why get used to something that's not available in real deal ?

Toughest players in game are from best clans, and won't use unlocks. Even if you don't compete, if you want to beat the best, you should do it in their own game.. this kinda means that if you're competetive (regardless of whether you're in clan or not), stock guns are for you.

For the rest, unlocks are there to be used. I guess ppl just use the word "noob" instead of "non-competetive", which is pretty arrogant and narrowminded, but whatever. Vast majority of players just play for **** and giggles every now and then and don't care if they're not best they can be, calling them noobs is pretty uncalled for, and make you just look like a jackass. It's because of them, that game is succesful, there are servers, hype around game, and there IS competition at all. Just let them have fun (getting called names isn't much fun), it's not like they're coming in to matches and use unlocks there.

That said, clans that compete and DO use unlocks boggle my mind
