Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

I just got a joystick: Logitech Extreem 3D Pro. I realise that I will need to practice with it to be able to use it effectively.

I have been trying to strafe targets like I used to with mouse and keyboard, but have found it to be MUCH, MUCH more difficult. Will this go away with practice?

Honestly, I have used both M+K, K+J, and a joystick with a throttle (X-52) and even after hours of practice with the stick, I do best with just the M+K. I do not know why, It feels so much more responsive, even with all my settings right on the joystick...I guess that is why my K/D ratio is only 12 in a plane

try setting your dead zones a little higher like around 10 percent to start and practice in an empty server before you go live fire. Metalica had to hear me swear up a storm the other day because I upped my sensistivity all the way up, it will get better and then youll hit a threshold where you are proficient. I highly recommend you stick with a joystick vs. mouse and keyboard but if you are happy with mouse and keyboard then by all means do what suits your playing style best and facilitates your enjoyment of the game.

Well, I am going to be playing tomorrow night, I might try the logitech again...I play at a net cafe, so I cannot dl the things that let me do 64 player maps, or all the maps even, in SP, so it kind of sucks doing it in an empty server...

I might ask them tomorrow if I can DL it, so I can do the single player thing, as it would help a lot....OCS in the F15 is just to easy, and it not really good help learning to bomb, with the carpet bombs....

Maybe I will see you guys around tomorrow, if you are not on 24/7 Oman again :) I hate that map....I am more of a Wake Island guy myself, or Dalian...believe it or not, I love flying against J-10 pilots, as they tend to be overconfident, and stupid after awhile.

                    10%?! That's way too much.

I would suggest 5% max, any more and you lose a lot of precision.

10 is bad for machine gunning, however allows you to live and play with a farked up JS. Ive got mine set to 5%, and 0 to some axis´.

And LOL Brian. Seriously dude, you will NEVER get better if you go on with the attitude of "Oh Ill play tomorrow, maybe Ill start owning then". Youre learning how to walk man, it doesnt work in 2 hours. This needs sh!tload of work!

Dunno the answer Mad, I know what you are getting at though. However, since you said you aren't talking about F35 and MiG, even for aces I think the J10 and F18 can be very difficult, and time consuming, to take down using missiles against a decent pilot.

I think pings play a role in some of the success/failure. Lead the target (which is sounds like you are doing), and try attacking them more from an angle than from directly behind with missiles. Against a decent pilot, imo gun use is vital.

                            Tips anyone?

btw i'd liek to thank you zippor and moob for answering my question bout the strato-run

i was putting it into good effect yesterday, on dalina i went 19-3 in a 35. which is good for me, plus i could have had more kills but the j-10 piltos kept bailing!!! the wusses, couldn't face getting owned by a F-35.

i also found delaying the flares so that i can d oa run without having the missiles chasing me.

cant wait to get on oman! the mig is so much easier compared to the j-10s! lol

I have used a joystick for quite a few hours, I guess I am just more comfortable using the M+K. I am pretty happy with my flying, I stand a fairly good chance at shooting down the J-10 whores....and I really like the mouse for strafing/bombing...
