TV missile is from a chopper, laser guided from bomber

it wasn't for destroying them but more for bombing practice, its helped me alot with bombing, i thought i'd share the only tip i could

well i say tv'ed from the bomber because you guide it manually, i.e no lock.

Missiles from the Co-Pilot seat on the bomber are Laser Guided.

Missiles from the Co-Pilot seat on the ch0ppa are TV Guided

Kiotee is the best F-35 pilot I've ever flown against. He's amazing. He can take down MiG 29s with ease. I used to think he hacked. He's just smart.

Ok then Ive got questions.

Missiles! and how to get them to hit more reliably? I can't count the number of times ive been up against a reasonably aware pilot and despite doing all the other things right I just cant get the missiles to impact.

I can follow, I use my views, fire one to force the flare, reaquire, fire a cluster of 2 or 3 and they all go snaking past. 2 Left, lead the target again, fshhh fshhh....2 more misses and now what?

So I read the coaching about when they fly straight or ambush them over the runway and thats all well and good against semi-dumb pilots but anyone who watches their behind isnt going to be caught out like that easily....so I badly need to improve my missile skills - but also, once Ive dumped all 6 missiles what am I supposed to do then?

Yes I have my gun, yes I do try rattling a few shots in before im noticed but I too have a 'cat on ice' joystick (Logitech 3d pro too) and getting the pinpoint accuracy while im moving and hes moving is no easy feat - and thats when hes flying *reasonably* straight. So once Im seen and as above, once ive lost all my missiles then what?

I cant gun him down because all the while he sees me behind its just loop loop loop bank bank loop loop bank etc etc and even with some lucky turns I cant seem to find the right lead for the gun to actually take them down.

As I said im getting good at the pursuit, Ive had people say to me on maps like airshow 'hey your quite good' mainly because they find it hard to get rid of me off their tail, or if they get on mine I can lose them more often than not, but I feel like such an idiot at times when I do everything else right, but send all my 6 babies out and not get a hit, never mind a kill.

Oh so lets break off, go back to base, rearm and hope to get good position on him next time - yeah I know you pros can laugh at that but thats easier than following for an age making useless attempts to hit him with my guns while he loops like a goodun- one mistake by me and I become the prey and not the predator so disengaging while I still have the upper hand seems to make the most sense.

*he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day* yeah ok well that doesnt help much when im scuttling off tail between my legs because ive wasted my primary A2A weapon.

Now im not really a noob anymore, id like to think intermediate, but I didnt play 1942 and didnt get BF2 till Feb so im still on a learning curve...I went through the first few months getting splashed a LOT - but after I learned how to stay alive and not crash I then learned some set-piece evasion techniques (some of which work well for me) but when it comes to taking people down I still feel like a noob because I just dont seem to be able to close the kill reliably.


I mean dont get me wrong, im not talking about taking down F35s (nor really the mig) they are pretty much missile magnets but everything else is more luck than judgement for me, so if you have some missile tips for intermediates like myself, rather than the basics already mentioned, id be very happy to hear them. :)

But I'd have to say my favorite is the F-18, reason being is I can pretty much make missles slide off of me even easier than the J-10 and on top of that the 18 is very responsive as compared with the J-10 even though it doesnt turn as sharp making it very good for ground attack

that is because the f18 is a multi strike fighter designed for a2a and a2g.

i like having the F18 on wake when US cap the airfield it kicks ***.



alltho i think Oman should have a F18 on it.

I got a Question.
Do you use a joystick like the logitec extream 3d pro one? If so tell me exactly how you have the controls for it set up I am still learning how to use the thing so im not very good now but with keyboard and mouse im ok i switched to joystick because with mouse you cant do fast repeted moves as easy as joystick.

He plays mostly Oman and in the US but I never came across him.

Alot of people I play with can shoot down the MIG with ease.

Thats why I like flying against them

That is what I do if 1) the pilot is not a total nub, 2) I'm not in the F-35 (it carries more bullets).

I know the feeling. I get the dancing missiles mostly when flying the F-35 against the Su-34. It's rather upsetting to have a nub flying almost straight and level and you have them lined up for a quick kill only to see your missiles dance around the fool thing. Now I mostly sneak up right behind them and very quickly drill them with guns. If they start to manuever then fire off two missiles quickly. That works for me most of the time. It seems the missiles track better if the Su is damaged and it's basically right in front of you. Then you have to watch out not to fly into the debris field.

The Su drives me crazy sometimes when I'm in the F-35. I would swear it was nerfed some in the last patch because it does seem a bit easier to shoot down now but countless times I have had my missiles skirt around it for no apparent reason. The missile dynamics seem very random. Conversely, the F-35 is a massive missile magnet. I've shot down F-35s and have been shot down in F-35s from missiles that turn almost 90 degrees.

I love the cannon and bombing in the F-35. It's just a real trick to evade in it. It takes a lot of practice, and even then, there are times when there is nothing you can do other than bail.

Do bomber jets use different A2A missiles? They feel like stinger missiles (go straight through rolling flares).

I suck at dogfights. So for christmas I got a saitek cyborg evo. When I started using it however I found it very unresponsive and difficult to controll. I use KB JS config at the moment. Can anyone shed light on the best config for this JS, because I suck with it so bad Ive gone back to Mouse/Keyboard.

I will rarely jump in a plane on a pub server, not because I dont enjoy it but because I just dont feel as productive towards winning the round as I do doing something else. But, I have learned a lot from doing a few air practices with my guys on unranked servers.

I can stay on the trail of an enemy really well and have learned how to use my nose cam to evade missiles etc. Im getting better at actually killing something. The thing that gives me the most trouble is spotting enemy aircraft. For the most part, I only find people by getting locked on myself and then trying to shake em.

So, do you have any tips - say in the fighter role - for sweeping a map for enemy jets? ie: Is it best to go back and forth in rows like mowing the lawn, or a sine wave sweep, or just random circling? Does it help or hurt to change altitudes while sweeping? Are there things you can do to make your own plane less likely to be found? Should you make use of your radar lock when searching or keep it off and go visual only? I just seem to suck at the whole process.

The one thing I did learn is not to engage on contact if they havent spotted you in return. Ive dropped quite a number of J10s on Daqing Oilfields with the US bomber lately by being patient and getting myself in postion to cut them off as they are chasing down the US fighter. The fog is thick on that one so the action is at lower altitudes - and I guess some chinese pilots figure they'll go for the fighter first and come back for you in the bomber next. I dont think that map attracts top jet pilots either. But, shoot a J10 pilot down with the bomber 2-3 times and boy do some people get hot... Thats my favorite map to fly on.

Seriously, I have 3 profiles in DXT. One for dogfighting (as sharp as possible), one for ground attacks (as dull as I can get, without compromising myself) and something in between.

However, there was someone (I think it was CWB Simon) with something about Saitek setup in his sig.

Deadzone is the area of movement the joystick wont register.

Its all about WHERE you sweep, HOW LONG you sweep and WHEN you sweep.

Second tip is- make use of mouselook. It really does quite a lot of magic in finding targets.

In Oman, which I play all the time

I usually fly the bomber for support, I usually get the top flag defend points.

I also use it as a fighter because I rarely get a decent wing man.

Then I get the noob gunners telling me that its a bomber not a fighter. I just let them know IRL its a multi-role jet.

Just this morning I went into Moongamers in my Pvt. account. I got tked 6 times for the SU because the noob said "Look at your rank you cant fly."

Last 50 tickets, I got into the SU and racked up more kills then he had the whole round. He sent more time trying to evade the F35 flying in circles.
