Great pilots often don't need to depend on someone else because they have learned to gun alone: why depend on others when you can guarantee a hit by taking the shots yourself? It's frustrating, I know... but unless you've got madd skillz, don't expect to be picked up by soloers.

It's too bad EA/Dice even allowed the helos to take off at all with an empty gunner seat. They should patch it.
Is it selfish? Probably. The irony is we (the proficient soloers) end up doing more for the team than the usual mediocre chopper crews: the rest of your description is inaccurate, so I won't bother addressing it further.

        Re: people flying choppers single....

I'm on the fence here. I have only redlined a few times, all of these being guys venting at me over VOIP saying i should get out for his m8 or whatever, or someone who has tked me earlier for the chopper but is quite happy to have my piloting services now know-one else will fly.

If the gunner is bad i will try and give pointers over VOIP etc.. but if they point blanc refuse to co-operate and sit there doing nothing i will ask them to get out so someone else can fly or i can solo. If they point blanc refuse to do that, i will spin and bail and ground pound for the rest of the round.

When i was a noob gunner and generally crap in choppers i used to complain alot about SP. Now i'm pretty good i realise the mistake i was making. I was jealous of their capabilities, that they woudn't let me fly. Now i understand they are often v.good players who will help the team a great deal more than the crap gunner and good pilot combination.

I have to agree with Chris, learn the basics in singleplayer, learn atleast what the TV missle is and you will get your chance to improve. With time you will get good and join the soloers

          Re: people flying choppers single....

Unless you're in a competitive environment requiring a good pilot to play range games against another chopper duo, good soloing is more than enough. I've always lobbied for it and wish people would recognize our contributions to the team's success. It's never about what we do for the team, but rather how selfish we are. Drastic difference in perspective, wouldn't you say?

If only people would stop complaining and capture flags. Instead, they all sit at the carrier waiting for an asset they will most likely waste: a shame, really... and the fact that someone like me could capture those flags alone when I hardly spend any time on the ground speaks volumes about our team's willingness to actually win.

They say we're selfish but the irony is they're out trying to get the same piece of pie instead of helping the team in another way. F*ck 'em.

Maybe it is you that should find a friend on x-fire with whom you can fly. Then you won't have to deal with all that selfish, inconsiderate, immature...bla bla players. Or maybe you should just learn how to gun :p

Another option would be to give up the chopper for that round and actually try to learn how to use a different vehicle. Was that a quote?

Your word is not a convincing fact. You would be in a better position if you were to provide actual numbers and figures to support your position, as opposed to carelessly tossing opposing opinions aside, like you've been doing thus far.

I can consistently prove the worth of soloing, but I suspect you're not interested in that data because winning the round is far from your main objective. If your replies will consist simply of "nuh uh!" style rebuttals, I'll just abstain from further discussion with you.

The bottom line is, I want to win: additionally, I know (statistically) I'll make better use of that chopper alone than any two members of the team. I'm also freeing up a soldier on the ground to help them capture flags while I take care of the helis, apcs, tanks and other miscellaneous annoyances... so my team can concentrate on eliminating infantry and taking those capture points.

Hate on good soloers all you want, but we're a major reason for your success... well, if you bother doing some ground work, anyway.

                Cheers.

Really? I've picked up captains in the chopper only to have them miss still tanks, more than once. Single Helo pilots = sick of stupid newbies who cant shoot, it doesn't mean they are any lesser of a human being.

Guys I wouldn't waste your time, that goes for both sides. This has been done to death. Here's how it goes.

                        Anti-solo'ers:
Heli should be manned by 2 people to work as a team
You shouldn't be able to switch seats mid flight
2 skilled crew is better than a solo'er
                        Seat switching is an exploit.
Seat switching can break AA lock. Yes you get locked onto now in the co-pilot seat but solo'ers know they only have to switch back and forth to break the lock.
Solo'ers never give anyone a chance
                        Solo'ers redline/tk players
Solo'ers fly 1000 miles in the air
Most use seat switching macros, if not autoclick macros
                        etc etc

                        Solo'ers
You all suck noobs I am the greatest.
I'll tk you or redline you if you get in "my" heli.
I'm better than any noob 2 man heli crew
I fly 1000 miles in the sky so you can't hit me
                        Solo'ing is better for teamwork
I single handedly win the game for my team
I don't use macro's noobs I switch faster than humanly possible
Why aren't you capping flags noobs, while I wait for my heli to spawn
I want all the points/kills for myself
                        etc etc

That's another big part of the misunderstanding: a lot of chopper pilots turned soloers have seen it all... and they're tired of incompetence. They get shouted the usual "stop being selfish", but the fact is most of them are just fed up with the wasted seat: I personally get incredibly annoyed by bad gunners because it's already a huge job and responsibility to be the pilot... you gunners have such a pleasant and easy life compared to ours, it's retarded. We're basically working while you get rewarded... not very enticing for us. Why have someone else take the credit when you're the one doing the very work that allows for these opportunities?

Try to see it from the pilot's perspective before you start ranting about how selfish we are. We do the work and give you the shots that enable the team to win, so if we want to have our turn, leave us alone. Besides, the ratio of good pilots to gunners is what... 1:6 ?? Yeah, it's easy to see why so many choose to solo instead of playing the odds.

Before you call me a hypocrite, realize that for almost 70% of my time on Sloi and FSSF|Sloi accounts, I FLEW PEOPLE AROUND. I very well know what I'm talking about... I gave many people gunning opportunities. Don't you think I'd love to be flown around? It's almost impossible to find those good pilots. I think it's my turn to enjoy the gunning aspect, so if no one else will fly properly, I'll just do it my f*cking self. /rant

well thought out balanced arguments there H.K.S, you can really see it from both perspectives

I have to agree with most of what Sloi is saying. Taxing some incompetent fool around the whole map, constantly lining him up for shots that he decideds to chain gun instead... (even when i'm typing "use the TV missle M8") can get extreemly irritating. Like i said in my earlier post, if they dont want to get out i will just bail and let them use it alone (i understand the concept the chopper belongs to the team, before H.K.S comes along with another inspired list of comments ) simple :)

EDIT: and if some of you anti-soloers would watch even a few mins of one of Slois videos you would see why many feel so strongly for soloing in the RIGHT situations.

Well I had a first today, I jumped in the gunner seat with a guy who I flew with before. He told me to get out, I refused, he said "you cant gun for sh!t"
I told him "that was my mouse and that I got a new mouse today so just give me 1 shot" (we were on voip) he told me "ok take out the essex" (iron gator.....from mec heli pad" he turned the heli, I fired, killed the essex.
we went on only getting shot out of the sky twice the rest of the round, he did an ok job flyin and I did an ok job gunning. Sure there are better pilots and alot better gunners, but atleast this soloer was willing to give me a chance.

and thats all I ask, because some times a guy might surprise you

btw it was my mouse, my G7 would double and triple click for everytime I clicked once..........totally f'd me up
