    Re: people flying choppers single....

i think its funny that he teases u around lmao. but once u got in , he shouldnt be an *** and do wat he did cuz trust me, it doesnt work at all and his just wasting everyones time. In his own interest(not mine), he should have redlined u in the first place. doestn mean tahts wat im going to do if i was himm. but think about it. a competant helo guy knows how good he is and would probably know how good a gunner his flying is in less then 3 tv he fires, so he can determine that he would do better without having a **** gunner. so i suggest u, if u realllly wanna learn the chopper, just go in emtpy servers or few slots servers and play there.

One problem I have with a few 1337z0rrz solo guys who actually didn't try to redline me immediately is that many didn't line up the shots the way they thought they were. They kept whining about my crap gunning skill while my TV camera was pointed at the ground the whole time. Then they would cry and whine about how we got shot down and it was my fault. Then I would point out that the chopper that shot us down was outside my TV screen and too close to adjust that much.
Whatever. The point is: maybe instead of whining about the shortcomings of others we could help the people who CAN be helped and improve ourselves before dropping dimes and quarters on people. (Payphones are 35 cents now, dimes alone aren't enough these days.) Now, people who don't even know that the TVGM exists are too stupid to play this game. Much like the people who ask how to change from burst to semi with the small arms weapons. The manual makes decent crapper reading. If you are too stupid and/or ignorant to read the manual you are probably playing the wrong game.
And gunning in SP is vastly different from playing on a 64 player server with even a low 30 ping. The responsiveness just isn't the same.

omg, i hate that. and they turn out to be wicked nOObs too. they tk at the edge of the map, then they try to do a fancy little turn and they end up in the water, also dead.

          That drives me crazy!

I guess they don't realize the lineup for TV shots is different for the SF choppers. If I see that happening as their gunner, I tell them over squad channel to place the wide, rectangular gunners aiming box on the target. I find that's the best lineup you can get for the HIND/APACHE

Back in the days I asked one guy for pointers so that I could become a better pilot. He said, go to Single Player and practice redlining bots. That's what I did.

Drastic difference in perspective, wouldn't you say?
I am not saying you do this, but the problem is pilots not picking up gunners or spamming "Bail out!" Or worse, red-lining on purpose. Picking up a gunner is not going to change anything about someone who is a good pilot. If you are a good solo pilot then having someone in the gunner seat is not going to impede your progress in any way. Might even pick up an assist or two. And, you are helping the rest of us who are not as good as your Lordship get a little better.

Seat switching can break AA lock. Yes you get locked onto now in the co-pilot seat but solo'ers know they only have to switch back and forth to break the lock.
Most use seat switching macros, if not autoclick macros
I strongly agree that a helo should not be able to take off without both seats filled. But, I also strongly disagree that seat switch is a problem. If you are in the air and you end up alone in the chopper, you should be able to switch seats just like in a tank, jeep or APC.

I will say that switching seats to break lock is an exploit.

This guy is spamming that he needs a pilot to fly him as a gunner. So we take off from the Carrier and I drop off the edge to 4-5 feet from the water.

He says over VOIP, "Oh my God, tell me you can fly!"

I laughed so hard I almost splashed us both.

DiCE thought so as well, so they fixed it in patch 1.3...

Jeez, you know if there's a post about chopper solo'ing, SLOI'd be all over it, with multiple posts. :SIGH: He's such a whore. A good whore, but a whore none the least.

I really like the idea of requiring 2 pilots to take off in an attack vehicle that has 2 seats. That would go for the SU-34 as well. At least put a timer on the chopper that will wait 60 secs or so for a copilot before it can take off. Also, for the OOB TK's, Dice should fix it so that if any part of the chopper is out of bounds, BOTH players take damage. I can't believe the lack of forsight on thier part. Well, now that I think about it, I can believe it.

Uh... no, that's completely wrong. Since I'm too whorish about the whole soloing thing, I'll give someone else a chance to explain why that's just plain false. Let me put it this way though: a two-man team doesn't work if one of the members isn't pulling his own weight. It's pretty clear... :)

So having another helmet in the chopper you are piloting causes you to suddenly not be able to operate the vehicle? Is this all because you can not switch seats? I think the switching seats issues is valid if that is how you are used to being successful as a pilot. But, if you have someone who is interested in being a gunner can't you make even a small allocation and just fly and fire missiles?
I honestly, in more than 20 years of military service never met a pilot that was not a control freak. I guess it runs in the digital world as well.

An infantry game like Call of Duty, where one player controls movement and the other viewing and shooting...

Having a useless gunner prevents you from effectively dealing with most ground vehicles without being a target for the opposing heli... and we're not even talking about engaging the latter either: it's akin to soloing without the possibility of seat-switching, effectively reducing the chopper's efficiency in half.

It's already apparent to me that you've failed to think your position through, so rather than waste time arguing with you, I'll let someone else do it.

If there were ever any questions as to the issue of the original post, these two quotes explain the mentality behind such actions as we have discussed here.

Not everyone is as good as you dude. You're probably better with TV missle as a solo pilot than a regular gunner. But everything you are saying is basically THEORY in the real world. Not everyone's skills match up perfectly. So, if you are head and shoulders better than the other player, by your logic, the other player should never get in with you and improve his skills. But skilled pilots can help improve a gunner's skills, and vice versa. I hear your logic, but I see flaws in it.
