Re: Has the persistent scoring system ruined the Battlefield franchise?

You have to remember that not everyone likes Karkand for the points. I am a huge fan of tight, close-quater combat with a small mix of vehicles here and their. Before coming to BF2, I played DF:BHD, a close-quater combat gamers heaven, with several different maps all devoted to knife range gun fights. So its only natural that when I came to BF2, I fitted into Karkand quite nicely, not just because its a points haven.

I fancy myself a round at Kubra Dam here and there, because I immensly enjoy flying the F-18, but sometimes theres nothing that beats a good ole' round of Karkand, because its far less running, its easy to find the enemy, and you dont have to worry about annoying nuisances like heli or plane whores. Granted alot of players only play karkand for the points, but I myself enjoy it for other reasons.

Thats why I didn't include it idot. 90% of people hack for fun, so that doesn't prove anything anyway.

Um, his point was, that people hack so they can get higher scores. Please read all the posts before you make inflammatory, insulting posts.

Yea, but most people do it so they can say that they are better, rather then look how they have improved over time.
        1. Sorry, you are wrong, not my opinion, that is a fact. That game has terrible hit detection, but that is not the reason for this conversation, so I digress.

        2. Um, his point was, that people hack so they can get higher scores. Please read all the posts before you make inflammatory, insulting posts.

        3. Again, how do you know how people use them? are you all of them? I use them to see how I improved, I am sure more people do as well.

Re: Has the persistent scoring system ruined the Battlefield franchise?

stats make people hack?? funny i dont think i have ever played another online game that kept track of points but i know for sure i have played other games where people created or used hacks.... RVS, CS just about every single online game created if not all

theres unranked servers you dont like stat whores go there, i dont get to play often but when i do i come back to bf2 because of the stats... unlike those who ranked up to 4 stars in the first 6 months i will never get there dont have the time with work and a family, but hey its a reason to keep coming back to BF2 gives ya something else to play for

people say there is balance in this game???? you see some of the screen shots here??? 90 and 0 150 and 0 all in a jet when somebody can come into a room and go 150 and 0 theres no balance there is no counter for a great jet pilot other than another great jet pilot and most of the time they jump on the same team so they dont have to worry about each other,

you jump in a linebacker or a stinger and you light up like a Xmas tree your dead in seconds, add a shoulder fired missle to a kit and maybe i'll play a map with jets, we have and anti tank kit why not and anti air

so for me i'll stick to IO or karkand, mashtar(sp*) rooms because i would rather be killed by another guy on the ground than somebody dropping bombs with whole round

and again if ya dont like the stats go to an unranked room they r there for a reason

Actually, it has everything to do with it you tardcart. Stats, padding stats, collecting, tracking, etc...has everything to do with why this game is bad. Ok, not everything, as there are many bugs that make it even worse, but between idiots tking to get vehicles, and retarded medics reiving in front of a guy/group shooting you to get points over and over again, pubbing this game is horrible.

Nobody cares about your stats, my stats or the next mans stats. There are occasional Volx fanbois here, but thats just a sad Darwin case. What the topics main concern is, is that people tend to play more selfishly when they know that what they do right now, gets recorded and sticks with them. This in turn alters the overall gameplay experience, and usually, almost always for the worse.
Do you see stats in my sig? Nope, because they are retarded and mean nothing. Sorry I didn't write an essay for you, too many nice long post that already say the same thing I'd say anyway, oh, never mind, I am free to post what I want, too bad for you. I know you see higher enlightenment reading interent forums about video games, maybe next time I'll make sure and think of your intellectual needs before posting.

Yes, absolutely. I persobnally believe it is the root of all selfish, smacktard behavior in Pub servers. It all comes down to a choice of whether or not you wish to be raped by aircraft whores in other maps or deal with the prone-spamming twats in city maps. I usually play Jalalabad or Sharqi (online anyway) because I am confident with my GL and Ak 101 i atleast have a chance of killing the prone-spammer once and a while.

Good read, I agree with alot of this while I disagree with some of your points.
I believe that many of the problems that plagued this game could have been easily solved.
TK for vechs? Simple solution: Disable team damage around all spawn points for the "hot" vechs. That way whenever some annoying noob comes to claim "his" plane that you so unright stole from him the resounding shot of a m95 wouldnt result in a jamming of the "Page down" button it would result in the noob going "ZOMGWTF JOO STOLE MY PLAEN!" and he would jump all around the vech in question, yet unable to force a TK.

Noobs who force TK? Simple, team damage is disabled against all gunfire within 1 foot of the person. The explosions are a problem everyone has to deal with and the force TK is alot easier to avoid than having someone intentionally lay down in front of your gun as your firing.

                    You are a moron!

Your sig says "I dont know whats more sad, people who pad for stats or people who care.", right? How has this to do with game gone bad? Stop skimming and start reading, you idiot because Ive been blaming stats for this game gone wrong for a year, these posts included. I just pointed out that your signature, as you referred to, has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Haha, you are a complete scrub.

If you can't see how people stat padding, and people getting their little panties in a bunch because of it, directly ties into the the theme of this thread, you should go back to school instead of trying to call others redneck. What's really funny is, we're saying the same thing, you are just being a d1ck about it.

Doesn't really happen on mine mate. More to do with the fact that the regulars enjoy teamwork and when they squad up with me they tend to get the job done, without spamming, and by old fashioned teamwork and ground pounding.

Indeed, that's why I play other maps frequently. Sure Karkand is my main one, but that's only because I spent the core of the previous 8 months playing on it. I play on a lot of other maps regularly.

Oh btw, I think everyone needs to get this image of 64 player Karkand out of their head, as I know exactly what it's like. Try a 32 man server on the 32 man map and it's a completely different story.

I still have it on my favorites list, but I hesitate to join it, mainly because it has that dreaded brown skidmark of a map as it's main attraction.

I personally avoid Sharqui, Wake Island, and Karkand mainly because they are indeed the three most overplayed and imbalanced maps in the game.

I'm not against playing them if they're 1/10th of the server rotation however. An example would be {VSSq}'s IO server. Songhua, Dalian Plant, Fushe Pass, Jalalabad and Mashtuur 16 playered maps all on one rotation. *Drool*

I'll gladly suffer through two rounds of Karkand for that kind of awesomeness.

Agreed. I loved BF1942. I also loved the fact I could change my name at will. So if you get the game late after release, and you've already used a certain screename, theres a pretty good chance it'll be taken.

Garabaldi: You actually made me change my mind. I thought the ranking system is a good thing, it gives you a goal and rewards you for playing well.
I remember playing CS. It didn't have any ranking system yet it was far more interesting than BF2. Actually i'm really getting bored of BF2 after only 170h, unlike CS which I played for a year and a half.
