Re: To whom it may concern.
You point to the main problem with the way IO (and infantry combat in general) is handled by BF2. Lets give everyone superhuman sprint distance to further enhance the Medic class. Get hit, no problem, just run away to a safe hole and throw down a medic bag.
I play for fun, but I have a preferred kit (Spec Ops) that I use for regular BF2. I also seem to play alot of AT on regular as well. My clan has been on an IO kick recently, so I've had to play that more often than vanilla. My solution: pick whatever the hell kit I want to have fun. I've got all of the unlocks I want, so I'll pick something that will either be entertaining or help out the team.
On IO, I play medic about half the time, and usually only when the squad doesn't have enough of them. I've played every class on IO, and I usually have the most fun when I'm not playing medic. Here's what I play on different cases and why (again referring to IO, I play these kits for a different purpose on vanilla):
Spec Ops: lay C4 traps at flags and at choke points to stop advances and prevent enemy from retaking flag
Sniper: act as "assault marksman" (especially with SVD) for advancing squad, lay claymores at flags for defense
Assault: love it on IO, use the F2000 to flashbang all those medics, noobtube them as they revive someone, and rip through people with the rifle
Support: spam grenades on the mass of medics, set up ambush position with PKM
Engineer: pump shotgun, very entertaining, brings back the satisfaction from older games like Doom
AT: use the rocket like a sniper rifle, watch medics try to revive those that cannot be revived, rip through people with the P90 or semi-auto shotgun.
Medic: one man assault of flag, help out squad
IO would be great if the following things happened:
1) don't allow medics to heal themselves
2) don't allow support to rearm themselves/limit grenades to one at a time
3) eliminate claymores, require manual use like C4, and/or remove them when the sniper dies
4) eliminate the superhuman sprint distance
