i see alot of newcomers, but then again the existing community seems tobe dwindling. i rarely play anymore, and for me the smacktards in the community killed it more than anything else. so yes and no.

Not yet, but once Quakewars and Crisis comes out, it will.

And after christmas, alot of people(Such as me) Are getting 360s, PS3s, different games, and moving to XBL or PS3s crappy online(Yah, I'm a 360 fanboy, deal with it)

More people will ask for 2142 for X-Mas rather than BF2, since its the newer game.

I think every game goes through a process with essentially 3 stages.

The first stage is when the game is new and exciting. Everyone is is kinda a noob and that's part of the fun.

The second stages is the peak, where you know enough to do well, but there are things you can still learn. Game play is at it's best during this stage.

Then comes the last stage which essentially involves the die-hard players continuing to play because they either love the game so much and/or are very good at it.

I think we are starting the last stage of the game. I say this because so many servers are game-play specific servers. You have your "24/7", "Knife, Pistol, & Shock paddle preferred", "Air Maps", "High Points" etc... It's getting harder and harder to find a server (that is populated) that has a nice map rotation.

I still don't get the so-called awesomeness of Karkand. Granted it's my most played maps, it's definitely not my favorite. But these niche servers will dominate until the game dwindles.

No it is not. There may be less players, but a year and a half after, that's normal. It is still going and there are plenty of servers.

bf1942 hasn't died out, bf2 has a few good years left in it.

you kidding? i went to 1942 the other day and ALL of the servers in my favorites are messed(ping of 9999....whatever that actually means)...i wish 1942 would get well soon

I noticed that too yesterday, but if you refresh it the pings should return to normal again.

BF2 question gets asked every few months but the amount of people playing the game isn't dropping.

No it isn't.Our 20 slot server which has opened 2 weeks ago is full almost 24/7

No, that usually means your server is the only one serving a few hundred people :p

Well, BF2 WOULD have probably lasted longer than CS1.6 had EA not ****ed it all up. *sigh*, when will someone buy out EA and put things right? Even Microsoft stuck with their OSes (most of them anyway) for about 7 years each.
