it is not dying, no f**ing possible! Yesterday i had ~1000 servers with people in them (ranked, no small maps, not empty). Normally i have ~700 - 800 servers.

Not yet, but once Quakewars and Crisis comes out, it will.

And after christmas, alot of people(Such as me) Are getting 360s, PS3s, different games, and moving to XBL or PS3s crappy online(Yah, I'm a 360 fanboy, deal with it)

More people will ask for 2142 for X-Mas rather than BF2, since its the newer game.

Crysis, while it looks like an amazing game(and I don't doubt it won't be, I loved Far Cry), means that you'll need a DX10 compatible card, and windows Vista. For some, it's too expensive, and not many people are going to rush out to pay 2000+ on a new system to play one or two DX10 games. While you have a good point, it's not going to be for a bout a year after Crysis comes out that the community will be as large as you may think. But you are right, once that time comes, BF2 is pretty much done.

Somehow I think not. Maybe Quake Wars will kill BF2, but people were saying the same thing about CS1.6, yet nearly 8 years on, it's still the most played game on the net. If you have great gameplay, nothing is killing a game. Hell, people still play Pacman...

BF2 was great fun, and still is. But the maps keep the same and some games really make me sick. It's definitly not dying, as it's much fun and the gfx are awesome. But after playing it many times I get a little bit bored.

Except for everything that's great about BF2 (still is one of the best games imo) is :

- Vehicles that pop-up, it would be nice if vehicles don't respawn and each team has a set of vehicles which they have to use wisely.

- Artillery sucks big time, could be better if players actually have to go to the artillerycannon site and follow orders.

- Disable jumping. Have you ever seen a soldier heavily equipted jump??? Introduce climbing over easy fences etc. (Like in GR2)

- Cars don't exlode when they are in contact with water, this is soo stupid.



But than again the game is GREAT! Definitly not dying. But I'm gonna go for Armed Assault, more my kind of shooter.

Ping is subjective to your location, Zip.

whats that got to do with the fast low ping servers in my country getting shut down ? i only play on uk servers, so i tend to notice when the good ones start disapearing. like multiplay killed off nearly all the public servers.
so bf2 is fizzling out in my country.

I dont think it's dying out. I've seen an influx of new players on the A2G Warlord server, and a lot of new players on FCW. Will it die? Of course. When? Maybe in 2 years? I think at some point in time the stats servers will be shut down, and then the player attendance will drop significantly.

Crysis may be good, but remember that the parts needed to run it at its highest settings very well are uber-expensive. I would love to play Crysis at full eye candy, but I first need a generous benefactor to give me a thousand or two dollars for a Core 2 Extreme, an 8800, some more RAM, and a new mobo. Maybe a nice big screen too.

Customization:

it died for me...got tired of the same maps and things in matches as well in pubs....and owning the same noobs over crying hacker. Turned into trying to get better to trying to get banned from as much servers as possible(lol noob admins getting owned) and pissing ppl off by flashing them over and over(lmao @ flashing commanders so they couldnt command and flashing choppers and jets right b4 take off so that they wreck and infantry so that they would run into walls and shoot at nothing and sometimes even tk from blind fire)...then it just got to a point were id rather watch tv or go hang out than play bf2.

New game hype = rarly lives up to it. Even BF2.142 did not and its numbers are slipping by the day.

Counter Strike did not die when Counter Strike source came out... not even close.

Who runs high end enough machines to play these new games?

Who the hell says they will be anygood? Trust the hype? I do not think so!!! 90% of hype games fall way way way below the bar. While the grass might seem greener, it is rare that it is.

Bf2 numbers are steady. The only thing dying on it is the mods which never had a chance in the first place thanks to rank whores and stats. Anybody who thinks BF2 is dying off does not have a freakin clue and should not be allowed to use a fork to eat.

you do have 2142 to thank for that, it had ruined BF2 and its numbers just as BF2 did to BF 1942, and BF 2142 will see the same fate as EA bring out a new era of game, dont be surprised if the next BF game isnt called "BF an alien invasion" its how it goes my friend...
