Ive seen a BR file of a 603 meter shot I think. But I think it was more like 590 or so. Im pretty sure dont_be_ss holds the record for long distance. but it can be done with a combination of UAVs and luck.

Seriously, if you have ever played with him, its really quite believable.

well its just that you can only just see objects at 600m, im not sure you can actually see a players body at that distance.

Quick question. Where are you guys getting the statistics from?? Longest head shot? #4 ranked sniper?? I'd like to know so I can judge the validity of these claims.

Battlefield 2 Stats - LeaderBoards - Sniper Rifle Totals. I personally prefer other Stats like KDR & Accuracy or something like the effectiveness rating Todd_Angelo did some time ago.

Longest headshot Recorded is what makes the claim valid offcourse. Well that and being a respected and recognized true sniper.
Btw I thought the 511 meter was the record, but it seems that was the old one on Wake. The new one is 554 meter on Dalian.

you get the distance from the flag that they are near. ok you cant be 100% accurate with the distance, but your not going to be far off if they are close to the flag.

its cool with the neewbies cuz the weapons look coll and they dont know sniper sucks on hand to hand combat, use the spec-ops, it has both of both worlds C4 and a full auto scoped weapon and a silenced pistol

it doesnt suck close up tho. ok using it 10cm away from someone is hard so u have to do no zoom shots, but you can kill quite easily at short distances. hell i have loads of fun when a gang attacks me and I by myself waste them all, because they all think like you do.

Me, myself, use Sniper a lot even though I'm just starting. Maybe it's just the idea that new players won't have too "die" as much often as spec ops and assault in the battlefield. Snipers can just sit back and shoot the hell out of the others. Plus, maybe they like power, and we all know which guns got power.

No offence to anyone, but I am gonna be honest.

People like to hide, and get a kill without the need to get into a bloody battle, and it seems like a weak way out. get in the battle, attack the flags, but hiding and waiting for a kill helps no one but yourself IMO.

Uh, have you ever taken a flag as sniper? By yourself because the squad won't work with you because you're just some "lone wolf wuss sniper". With only your pistol because you can't waste claymores because the support people in your squad won't work with the "lone wolf wuss sniper". I do it quite regularly. It's called learning the pistol the hard way.

The fact is, the sniper kit isn't made for taking flags. It's really ideal for squad leaders because of the survivability, recon, and long range supporting power.

If I'm squad leader I kick snipers off the team. They don't help cap flags nor protect them. I like a squad that's mobile and lethal

Then you're a bad squad leader. You might regret your decision when I'm knocking off your teamates from 400+ yards and you can't do anything about it.

No offense intended. I just gotta defend my favorite kit.

And I'm not overly impressed with some of those top snipers you guys are referring to. Their rifle kills are amazing, yes. But their kills per minute isn't really that great. And for as much as they play sniper, the pistol kills are relatively low.

wtf?!?! 511m ?? ive got kills further than that and that was when you had SERIOUS bullet drop before they tweaked all sniper rifles!!

cant be much more, since the furthest you can see players on the most open maps is ~550m, which is the furthest i have done.

Not to burst your E-bubble to hard, but an experienced Sniper knows the distance to any given shot in this game over time. And if they are not certain the become SquadLeaders and use a command like Move to to get the exact distance. Just set the Waymarker and you know the distance for sure.

Claiming you have made shots over 500 meters is worthless if you didnt record them. And seeing as you cannt even judge the distance your statement lacks any real value to begin with. Btw apparently 600 meters is the greatest distance at which you can see somebody. Its supposed to be on Fushe Pass, allthough I highly doubt it. I rarely play this map so I cannt say this for sure from my own experience.

I still do not see why people consider Snipers not a team playing class.

I have been in full sniper squads, and they can annihilate a zergling rush if they work together. 6 snipers VS. a spawn camping USMC on sharqi (no vehicle) can be devastating for the USMC.

Though most snipers dont realise is that they can see further than others and help spot enemies ( i do realise that they know the distance they can see) but they abuse the scope, using it only for zooming in and killing.

Yes, we all know that people abuse the claymore and place them everywhere, but it has become an instinct, and not a skilled and thought placement.

Overall the i can say that the sniper kit can actually be more 'team' like than the medic, or support, who would rather heal/supply themselves and walk away from you.

yea, i know roughly how far away they are, but a few times i have sniped someone with a flag nearby and got a reasonably accurate distance. why should i bother recording them just to prove to someone i got a long distance kill? its only when someone said oooh this guy is amazing and has all these distance records do i say something, because many people can do these type of kills and theyre not hard to do.

@ zipp0r, you can get the allmost exact distance by going SL and using the waymarkers. And you can claim all you want, but without prove you shouldnt try to challenge records like you are now.
... "many people can do these type of kills and theyre not hard to do" ... I know most of the accomplished snipers in this game and only a handfull can make these kinds of shots so stop posting BS here.

@ frazzman, I dont record any of the distance kills I make. But I dont go about posting about them either. Guys like dont_be_ss do and he has them taped. If you have a problem with that take it up with him. But looking at your comments you are just another forum troll so I doubt you will.
