    Im open to reasonable suggestions.
Would a simple helmet be the answer?
When I play assault, I mostly get killed from head shots.
I think an assault guy could use a little protection up there.
I hope snipers will stay clear of my throat for this suggestion…

Yeah those thigs whould work better, I've seen photos of that limey who got stiched in the head with a few AK rounds. The pictures are of him with a sh|t eating grin wearing his helmet with the huge bullet marks where he was shot and NOT killed.

I hope he bought some lettery tickets after.

You know, extended body armor effect to protect against headshots from all weapons (except from snipers) would be a pretty damn good start. I would go as far as making it so a headshot does 2X damage in case of a headshot as opposed to the regular 3X.

bullets hardly do half the damage they should already - why make things worse???
a major rethink of the gun dynamics would have to happen to make that work
all 5.56 and 7.62mm bullets should be killing in at most 3-4 hits not 5-6+ with iffy hit detection and ridculous accuracy as it currently stands

More people come to the party! :)
We were talking about giving a boost to assault class in the form of some head armor.
I don't think a 'major rethink if the gun dynamics' is ever going to happen.
You don't have to look far for the perfect example: BF2142. When the demo is out, try the weapons and see for yourself if any dynamics are changed.

Maybe we should have face shots instead for those with armour??

The new Kevlar can take up to a 7.62 pretty well, I've seen live demo's. I also saw a dummy grenade launch an ammo box 80 ft into the air.

The army lets you play with cool toys.. :p

If youre willing to sacrifice your KDR, you will be able to take them down eventually. If youre willing to sacrifice your time, you can be a pain in the *** and disrupt their bombing pattern. But no, you want to kill all jets AND kill all infantry AND finish the round with gold as a medic, on foot.
Okay, about the double-coverage: It doesn't matter. If you're sitting in an STA site against a pilot with half a brain, all you're doing is feeding the other team tickets. Two STA sites does jack **** too because unless they're being actively harassed by another jet (who is able to keep a lock on them), they'll dump flares and be out of range long before any of them can re-lock. Meanwhile you're STILL feeding them free kills from the first one.

Then if you DO get a lock, most of the time the missile can be shaken with a simple barrel roll.

No, it shouldn't be a two-click kill, but the reason the flak turrets worked so well in BF1942 is that even though they weren't a guaranteed kill, at least you could be sure they'd do SOMETHING. Compare to tanks, where a SRAW shot isn't exactly devastating, but can reliably put someone a little bit closer to kicking someone out of the driver seat. They're not utterly immune the instant they pop smoke either.

And with STA, your best suggestion is to have one person take a guaranteed-kill for so another person can fire missiles into flares? The whole point of jets, all vehicles for that matter, is a high KDR, which that sort of play only makes easier.

STA's need one very simple fix: Less damage, more reliability. Then they can be used as an actual harassment measure instead of a "shoot me" box on the jet HUD.

If they dump their flares and break their operation, youre already effective. I cant stress this enough- grounded STA is NOT an offensive weapon. Its a defensive weapon. Its not supposed to give you a positive KDR over jets because it has a significant disadvantage in almost every aspect. I do think ground vs air is still broken. But in all honesty, theres nothing you can do to make grounded STA to be superior to jets as solo. Besides, currently, what kills jets, absolutely devastates choppers.

And 2 STAs provide a significantly more effective tool agaisnt a jet. While using one STA as a decoy, other can get a shot off.

The effect of a red buzzer is greatly underestimated and it makes me a little sad that so many people dont really appreciate whats going on in the pilots seat. Red buzzer has a very nice effect of making a pilot cut his current action. Which is the primary function of STA, against jets.

You know, doing actual damage is not the only method of defense.

And with STA, your best suggestion is to have one person take a guaranteed-kill for so another person can fire missiles into flares? The whole point of jets, all vehicles for that matter, is a high KDR, which that sort of play only makes easier.
Thing is, if the pilot is tricked into believing that the STA site in front of him is the one targeting him, he will not release flares. Result- direct hit. Ive done it plenty of times. Not really asking people to do squads nor anything. But I sit into AA more often when another one is occupied nearby.

STA's need one very simple fix: Less damage, more reliability. Then they can be used as an actual harassment measure instead of a "shoot me" box on the jet HUD.
STAs need to either have a long distance coverage with bad tracking, or short distance coverage with excellent tracking. AND, I would personally take STA sites HUD signature off. Choppers cant see em, jets shouldnt either.

The conversation hit this point, so I'm carrying it on. If you don't like it, get out of this thread.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to type in a lengthy response right now because I have to go to work.

Chris and me, we have reached an agreement. :)
                              What's your opinion?
Could we move on and talk some other unbalance issue?
Or should we start a new thread? :p

Seriously man, youve been OT plenty of times. You should be all stirred up because theres a conversation in your topic going on without you. Needless to say, it ended.
