You see that's where you are wrong. The game (or in this case round) is only as good as the players on your team and against you on the opposing team. If you play a mode that encourages stat whores to flock to it then chances are you will have a crappy round as a result of all the crappy players. When I say a "crappy player" I mean a player who does not care about teamwork and does not care if your team wins the round or not ect.. ect... So again when your mode attracts these types of players you need to change that otherwise it effects the core entertainment value of IO mode. Balancing out the stat gain is just a side effect of improving IO in this manner.

You lost me right here. I'm not wrong. I really do not care about the stat system. Now if you're talking about the points gained in a round in regards to how they reflect on said round, then IO currently hasn't changed anything. People with the faster trigger finger (clicker?), more CS like reactions, are still going to post the triple digit scores.

If we keep down this pathway we are going to have to eventually stare at the ugly truth,"A stat system that rewards players for building stats is always going to draw out the worst in a gaming community". I can understand for comparison purposes. Yet, when you start giving out ranks, unlocks, perks, ribbons n' crap; you're always going to bring out the worst in people.

IO mode kinda' takes it to a new level yet it's still all one in the same. I digress though; cannot change the past. So if balancing out the stat gain might do something for the mindset of players (which I honestly don't think it will, but I am willing to have an open mind about this) then I am all for it. I do think a strict gameplay change is the way to go though. Give people the tools to play the kit within a defined strength and weakness format and they will either adapt, or lose.

...to be honest though. I am willing to settle for any change at this point. Just not the crud' we have before us.

The stat system, as has been mentioned, is keeping BF2:Vanilla alive. People like "awards" and seeing progress.

As for IO mode...what did we say? Pretty much has come true.

I've been harping this since I first tried IO in BETA:

        'Vehicle-lite' ranked map option:
        • Replace Tank and APC spawns with Heavy Jeeps
        • Replace AA vehicle spawns with Light Jeeps
        • Remove Jets
        • Replace Littlebird and Attach Helicopters with Transport Helicopters

        or 'Vehicle-neutered' ranked map option:
Same as above except transport vehicles have their gun mounts removed.

        Also another game mode: 'Supply-line'.

For those who don't know what 'Supply-line' is, thats when you have to take flags in a certain order. Sometimes you have choices that remerge at another flag.

Support? simple. Don't let them resupply themselves. Yep. It's that simple.
Okay, so basically you need two supports per squad or constant crate drops so they're not stuck with knives as a penalty for living too long? Great idea.

YES, this is the only change they actually need.

If medic "god mode" is pissing you off, here's a quick tip: Bring more firepower. Try the GL! Wow, you killed the medic AND the guy he revived! They're piling up? Shoot the pile, gg.

Reduce the amount of cone-of-fire/deviation on all guns across the board, barring the standing/crouching deviation of LMGs which would be fine as it is now. If guns were more accurate there would also be less need for nade spam since the guns themselves would be more lethal.
Nade spam is used because you don't even need to see a target or even know there is one. If you can see the target, the existing assault rifles are good enough.

Proning would only be used as a defensive position, not a 'come-around-the-corner-and-belly-flop-against-someone-5-feet-away' position.
So what? Even if they did that, if someone's 5ft away, the gun's gonna hit anyway. Unless a firing delay is introduced, people will do it, because as in FPS, maneuverability is king. People still bunny to evade shots even though they can't shoot until they land. I have no problem shooting people that are flopping and bouncing all over the place, and I will continue to do it because.... I don't like getting shot!

The stat system and IO mode is what's keeping me in this game. It's hard to please everyone. Someone will always have different opinions. If you think IO mode is rubbish then kindly go to a different server. Not all people think it's rubbish. If you want to make some changes to the game, send your resume to EA and apply to their BF2 development group. The only change that I would make is adding Lite Vehicles like Vodnik, Hummvee, and Buggies. To the OP, good ideas, but it's not gonna happen. Just live with it.

I have a few suggestions of my own that will not change a dang thing, but I want to type them out anyway...

                1) Most of the problems associated with IO mode would be alleviated by putting jeeps back into the mix. Having no vehicles but boats is just plain stupid. Engineers would be useful again. Anti-tank guys, somewhat more useful than before. At least the DAO is still useful in close-range battles.

                2) If you're so dang insistent about leaving jeeps out, then you should get rid of the commander's ability to scan and UAV and give him back the ability to artillery. Getting rid of scanning would give slow-moving infantry members a chance to sneak behind enemy lines, since they no longer have fast-moving jeeps to allow them to do this. Yes, I know, only being able to artillery and drop supply crates wouldn't give the commander much to do. Too bad. Maybe this IO thing isn't such a good idea after all.

 Cute. At least you understand my point. That's more than I can say for most. Also, I doubt support would live long enough to be stuck with only knives. If so, then they need to find another support player and ask for ammo.

You're under the assumption that just because I think somthing can be made better that it's pissing me off. Well since that assumption is wrong, your suggestion is kinda' pointless. I am going to play BF2 regardless.

What's this!? What is this logic of, "If you think there is room for improvemet and change, don't play!"? Where do you pull this from? Out of your crack? Where!? It has to be outa' your crack because that's the only way you could think B.S. like this is even slightly intelligent; ...and then you carry on with it!

So I have you build the game to suggest changes? I have to work for EA to give input!? ...you didn't even think at this point did you? Your fingers were on autopilot and you just typed whatever spewed out. Is that it? If so, I forgive you. Just next time look while you type... or at the very least think. Oh, and try not to be a complete hypocrite. To say, basically, "Wanna' suggest things!? Work for EA first!" and then turn around and *GASP* suggest somthing is just retarded.

My server is running IO for a week or so to test what we think i did have a few rounds of actually very good game play no nade spamming or claymores everywhere it was great it just depends on the people on the server! Also people say everyones medics and support.... this is not true i saw lots of snipers, assault and spec ops running around. It all depends whos on ur server i think.

no changes are needed and Dice is not going to make any changes, if you dont like IO or BF2 then play something else, may i suggest CS.

Where do you people come from!?

Look, I am going to break this down for all of the slower folks in the cheap seats one last time!

                          1. *You don't know what Dice won't and will do!*

                          2. *You don't have to "dislike" somthing to want to see a few changes!*

                          3. *If you don't have anything helpfull to bring to the coversation, don't join in. It's silly to say on one hand, "Dice isn't going to do anything you ask!" then on the other say, "Stop asking!". If you don't think they are going to listen, why bother others over their suggestions? Why even open a suggestions thread? Why even join the forums?

...and considering IO turns BF2 into the original UT, why would anyone go play CS when they have a faster paced game on their hands? That's just silly.

instead of complaining here, why dont u take this up directly with Collin at Dice. all u people are doing is creating thread after thread about this so called IO problem. i dont like a lot of things about this game either, but u dont see me bitching everyday about it.

IO FTW. Had some awesome rounds on mash, jabala, sharqui. Squad work is definitely seems more active on IO servers with these maps. (Don't know about karkand yet, haven’t played it much, no 50 or 64 plr karkand nz serer up)

Only change I would like to see is to make it so you can't spam nades and clays are not invincible.

I sure as hell don't want jeeps. People like myself will just drive around running people over. Most people will be support + medic and wont be able to do **** about it.
