You're all so obsessed with point whoring that you can't even give 1.3 up for a couple of weeks to play this GREAT new IO mode.

If it's so fuxxing good why aren't you all playing 1.4 beta, why are the servers empty?
I can't speak for everyone else, but personally I'm not playing 1.4 beta myself as I have enough issues getting the "official" 1.3 running, and I just don't want to go there untill its released in its final form and the community concurs its less buggy than previous patches. So in my case, its a fear of not having the game run over-riding my desire to play IO prematurely.

I'm happy waiting thanks very much, muther-fuxxer :P

I think its a little late to take out IO mode, if you dont like it dont play it, if you do like it play it. At least if it is considered stat padding in the long run it wont be vehicle whores with the highest scores, thats got to count for something since there will be less reliance on whoring for those vehicles and everyone can play as the game was intended instead of camping with a tank infront of karkand.

Trouble is that opinion was formed in Karkand. If you play full map rotations then there is no such problem.

Karkand is the highest spm map, and probably still will be after 1.4. DICE are wasting their time with IO mode as the Karkand spammers don't actually care whatsoever about the IO mode itself, they just want the Karkand vehicles removed.

IO mode is just a breath away from a 24/7 Karkand K/P server.
And I'm afraid DICE's failure to see this is troubling.

But then this needs teamwork, something that dont happen to much in BF2

That actually sounds kinda fun, nade spammers in the open. Don't see why you need a tank, I will put them down fast with my AK. Something tells me they will soon learn. But with my lack of XP with IO I can't say much. I'm not going to install the beta either. I'm happy wating + I have too many clan matches and practices to attend to bother installing a beta when the official version will be out in 1 week.

IO is a great diversion from regular bf2.
It also gives you a chance to work on your gunning skill.

WTF? You have a gun that shoots grenades, medkits, ammo packs, and revives? Must be an unlock I haven't got yet.

Also sounds stranger from a Sharqi MEC chopper gunner spawn raper like yourself 8)

I get the general impression that the majority of people hanging out for an IO option are people who have only joined the BF series with BF2, and before that they were either too young to play computer games or they were into the CS series.

Anyone who has been with BF for any length of time knows how BF without vehicles is just not Battlefield. They're pandering to the whiny minority, have done with every patch and will continue to do so when (if??) 2142 comes out.

IO Karkand is absolutely no fun IMO.
All it consisted of was 3 classes doing the same thing and gaining no ground, its the purest example to stats>flags.
Now MEC did there job as expected by stopping the USMC rush...yet it wasnt a rush for flags.
Like I said 3 classes were only in play..Medic, Support, and Sniper.
And there basic use was this, Support keep the constant supply of nades flowing as you and others spam them, Sniper spam Claymores and Nades, Medic revive nade victims and spam nades too. It wasnt a constant barrage of nades at every angle, lack of tanks/vehicles made it able for people to throw them right in the open..people actually threw nades at me as I ran at them with a gun..If one was lucky enough to go through the sides, you were greeted by claymores on top of claymores ( I can only figure this was snipers fighting for the kills so spamming them atop of each other was kind of a "kill steal")
Wait a minute...were you actually under the impression that people want IO because it's fun?!

C'mon PKM...you're a smart guy! You know better than that! If that were the case, then much like the 'should K/P servers be shut down' debate, there has always been the option to play with no vehicles from day 1. It's called 'unranked'.

And yeah, I'm just sure you'll see 24/7 IO Operation Clean Sweep servers. Maybe for about a week you'll see some IO servers playing around with some of the larger maps and ex-vehicle centric maps like Dalian and OCS, but after that they will be tossed in favour of 24/7 Karkand, maybe with some Sharqi, Mashtuur, and Jalalabad mixed in. People want all of this great tactical gameplay that in their minds IO will offer, when in reality not only does tactical gameplay already exist in the game should you choose to use it, but like PKM said IO is not feasible for most of the maps. Walking around from flag to flag on Kubra would be the very definition of boring, and maps like Karkand where the attacking team needs to break through a tough defense by the defending team require vehicles to break the stalemate and take a back flag.

But trust me, for every one person that actually wants IO mode for 'great squad-based teamplay', there are probably 20 that see it as statmode.

Its sad you have so little faith in your fellow battlefield players. Why do you keep going fighting this cynical crusade against people who want to have a good time?
Mother of god man! there are stat padders out there, no matter what game type you play, but why waste your time worrying about them? and why waste your time trying to tell the world how bad it all is and just enjoy the game. live and let live.

Quite wrong, see my other post in this thread about people who want to talk about CS too.

I've been playing the Battlefield series since the week 1942 was out, its a great game. The original 1942 was vehicle centric, the maps were quite open with the exception of Berlin and the Russian urban map (I can't remember the name of if off the top of my head).

However, BF2 brought along a few more urbany maps (well 4 anyway), that surprisingly enough seem to be very popular and fun to play in contrast with the more open vehicle intensive maps. So even though the BF series was a pioneer in vehicle based combat (others had come before but werent as popular), could it be that the initial buzz of vehicles has worn off and people want to revert to ground pounding? A lot of the consensus on these forums and out there in gameland seem to suggest so.

So then, maybe its time to put the old "just go play CS" away and come to accept the fact that there are people that like to play this game without vehicle imbalances once in a while.

Maybe BF3 should have a 50/50 split of vehicle and no-vehicle maps?

Why, wolfgang? because it is the unfortunate truth that these BF players you speak of are actually (predominantly) BF2 players. they want infantry only cos they're not used to having vehicles. at the risk of bringing the world in on my head, there is actually no way an infantryman could go close to surviving against a tank, but in BF you have that chance. The reason theres such a push for it is cos you got those who love their stats and sit at a spawn point mowing down anything that moves WITHOUT trying to cap the flag, and then you got those who hate vehicles full stop and love bunnyhopping and all.

I did say 'majority' mate, i deliberately avoidid saying 'all' cos i do know some people who are keen for just IO who have been playing with me for years. and i also steered away from saying 'go back to CS'.

The crux of it for mine is that you can have a great time groundpounding in a standard map *if people work as a team*. imagine the fright a tanker on karkand gets when he sees AT missiles swarming at him from all sides, or the 'omg' that a bloke gets when he kills a couple of people, only to have them respawn a few seconds later from a hidden SL and kill him in return..
