OK, let's "set off" a shaped charge 2 ft. from your head IRL, & see what happens

I poster claimed that a certain rocket sends turrets flying like frying pans, I have watched all the military shows, & have only seen Hellfires (fired from Apache Longbows) do that type of devestation

I qualified w/ the LAWS rocket in basic training, & we were taught that light AT rockets were for defense against APC's, & trucks, & weren't effective against, nor meant to be used against heavy armour

      2. Why shouldn't a AT rocket take out half a squad if shot @ there feet? I have played AT, & have been shot @ by enemies beyond the range of the DAO-12, & shot back w/ the AT rocket which hit within 2 feet of the enemy w/ out causing him any visible discomfort which is BS imho

I do agree that playing AT kit should earn more points, like for instance getting a "destroyed startegic object" point for the tank itself, even if no 1 is in it

Thank God for the P-90, it is OK in CQC, & effective @ medium range, it is the only reason I will play the kit since like 1 poster stated, by the time you spawn AT, the tank is usually gone

I try to get all my team m8's to go AT @ the same time against tanks, but it is not "lucrative" enough work to intice them, they would rather just go around the tank (now that's probably closer to "real life")

in my most humble of opinions

Well for #2, the crying from everyone would make my ears bleed. Hell if you shoot someone with the AT rocket now the crying is just unbelievable.

All you hear now is "noobtube" "lame" "cheep", well just last night I shoot this guy from about 150m. What am I gona do? pistol? ya right at 150m P-90, same thing, let him sit there killing my team? I don't think so. So I shoot the AT at him.....he's still shooting at me.......rocket is almost there........he's still shooting......rocket is right there.......he stands.......BAM! dead.

I mean WTH, he saw it coming a mile away and sat there shooting at me only to watch it plow into his face and then calls me a noob. I got and idea.....****IN MOVE! Hell he could have had a smoke break and still got out of the way before it hit him.

If it had splash damage the cries for nerf would be deafening.

        Re: Anti tank BS.

As an Expert Anti-Tank soldier...I can certainly say that this entire thread is without merit.

The AT class is certainly not very powerful.

        -limited sprint
        -no grenades
-you put 2 rockets into an APC and the driver can still get out and kill you
-you put 4 rockets into a tank and the driver can still get out and kill you
-you put 1 rocket into a jeep and the driver can still get out and kill you
-when you DO manage to put enough rockets into armor to take them out, somebody can steal your kill at the last second
-rockets fly SLOWLY so you're vulnerable to fire while you're guiding them
-the main weapons SUCK (except the DAO is great..but ONLY in close combat)

        The good things about AT?

        -body armor
-can take out a DPV or FAV in one hit (provided you can hit one)
-sometimes you get lucky and can take out a full transport helo or APC (rare)

They kinda do. Fire the AT round and then switch to your gun. After the gun is out you will no longer be guiding the rocket, it will just go straight from then on until it hits something.

yeah, you can fire and forget with AT, but its unguided at that point...

can take out a DPV or FAV in one hit (provided you can hit one)
I can't even count the number of times I've put a rocket through a dpv/fav/etc.., not gotten the kill, and subsequently been run over by said dpv... meh.

I have to disagree with people saying AT is "a non point class". On certain maps it can be devestating. Play it on Mashturr or sharqi and it is very effective. Basically any map with a lot of jeeps on it is a great map to go AT.

Plus no one plays the class on those maps, you will be thanked by your teammates.

You need to keep up on current events. Its unguided in real life but not in BF2

I can also live with the fact that in BF2 AT units can go from kneeling to prone without the need for physically removing a post, and fitting a tripod like in real life.

But I cannot accept that an AT unit can lie under the rear or side of an APC launch the AT rocket into the APC destroying it immediately, and yet survive!

In rea life one modern AT rocket fired by one person detonates above the tank, so it doenst even touches it, blows the **** out of the tank.

Second no way they carry 120 KG, maybe 40 KG tops.
120 KG will break soemone's back.

It's fun to take the AT class, look for vehicle drops, then set up an ambush to take out all the troops riding in the jeep. Also, AT is good on Daqing, for defending bases or even assaulting certain bases (just make sure you have backup).

It's the object that's hit that fragments also though, that's why it's called "splash" (secondary) damage and not primary damage. The combined effects of an AT rockets splash damage, and the splash damage of an APC exploding in your face should kill anyone. If it isn't then why do the APC's occupants die?

After all theoretically it is the splash damage that kills the occupants of the APC as they weren't directly hit themselves. In my example I was further from the combined explosions myself than the AT guy, yet he survived.

Just an odd occurance imho. Like the odd teamkills sometimes happen.
                              Bf2 wouldn't be BF2 without those moments :)

IRL, those USMC A/T rockets are one-shot killers on any Soviet-era tanks, especially the T72. Read that again: 1-shot kill. Not three shots, and maybe you'll get lucky, not five shots if the guy's parked near a crate. One shot, and any hit in or over the center of the tank... *poof* the turret does a frying-pan flip into the air.
Such as it is: the MEC uses modern era democratic russian armour.

The real T-90 outperforms the M1A2 quite significantly, has superior armour and a superior tracking unit. It's gun has extended ranges over the ancient t-72 (last constructed in the 1980's, if I'm not mistaken).

As for missles, they're too weak. 2 Anti-tank missles should destroy any vehicle, be it a tank, apc or otherwise. Why? Because tanks are a support unit to the infantry assault, not the assault with the infantry as support.
