Aimbot finds and shoots aimbot but kills BF2

A friend of mine recently paid for a week’s trial of an aimbot distributed on the Internet by a company who I’ll call XYZ Company. Before anyone says it, no – it’s not me I’m talking about.

This friend’s a bit of a computer geek and he actually took the trial to see how the aimbot worked rather than to improve his stats. However, on every ranked server he went on (I’m talking EA Official UK, Jolt and Multiplay) he found one or more (and in some cases several people) quite clearly using aimbots. The way he discovered this was to use the aimbot to highlight the enemy and make buildings transparent. He then ran around behind hills, buildings and fences, and it was clear from the highlighted enemies that they were tracking his every movement backwards, forwards, up and down. It was clear that it was an aimbot and nothing to do with being spotted by the UAV or commander.

He killed a few hackers by using his aimbot but became bored with this and disillusioned with BF2 overall. Since his aimbot trial period ended, he hasn’t played the game at all. I feel sad that he’s decided to stop playing. Personally, I just accept that there are probably going to be hackers in every game I play. I just play for a laugh.

But it made me wonder whether there are any white hat hackers out there who have this or similar aimbots who could use it in the way my friend did to locate and then record and report these hackers. Or would such white hats be accused of breaking the ROE themselves? Should we just leave it to Punkbuster or hope that blatant hacking or exploiting is reported to BFROE?

PB never did its Job. Not in Americas Army, not in Couterstrike, and prolly never in BF2.
In my life i saw like 2 PB Bans and i play FPS online for years now.

White Hat hackers? lol havent heard that term in over 5 yrs hehehe.

Anyhow i would leave it to the powers that be who do this sort of thing for a living. I know these companies (evenbalance etc) are not the fastest and most efficient sometimes but been a white hat can get you into all sorts of trouble yourself. Usually WH's work for dev/security companies (or at the very least well known communities) thats why they get away with use of and deconstruction of blackhat apps/tools.

I hope EA doesn't pay PB too much money, because they seem to not be doing their jobs.

I must have owned alot of hacker out there if theres so many! Ive never really blamed anything on l33t hax!!11 before, blamed a few on macros though. I mostly chalk it up to UAV or lucky set of shots.

But there was an incident 2 days ago, some Sargeant killed me and a fellow soldier behind a sheet metal fence. I heard 8 shots and we both dropped. Sounded and felt a little artificial, but what can I do. Cant report him with out a HUD screenshot.

Doesn't the PKM shoot through some soft cover? Or have you already taken this into account by stating "Sheet metal"? http://www.secretsofbattlefield.com/pkm.wmv

Re: Aimbot finds and shoots aimbot but kills BF2

This thread will probably end in the usual, 'You whiners because someone is better than you', so for the record I've played a lot of hours on this game and don't claim to be able to do anything but hold my own.

                However,

The level of skill that I've seen being displayed recently is nothing short of astonishing. I'm feeling a lot of 'luck' out there at the moment, a lot of single shot kills from beind the fog during rounds. Especially noticing normally pretty good sniping points just being instantly picked up from hundreds of metres away, one shot, dead. I mean immediately before a shot is even exchanged! Now some of this is meeting a great player, personally I dont think so.

Another thing I've seen is a player spawn wherever he wants on the map but only during 1 round so it may have been a glitch, but was damn handy as I was in the same squad spawning on him.

But the 'wtf how did he know where i was thing?', but a lot of players will second guess and anticipate where your going or where they are going to get it from so this is probably responsible for a lot of 'sixth sense' movement.

The ***** aimbot is being shown in use on google video, worth a look, personally I dont understand why anyone would bother using it it would make for a very unchallenging and boring game very quickly, but I'm not 12 years old I guess.

Overall there doesn't seem to be any reliable info out there regarding this and it is all heresay, an anonymous poll may be a good idea. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of players just want a good even game that's challenging and fair and also that theres a lot of times it's pure good fortune or chance, like most of us i've fired shots and lmao when they actually scored. But it only takes a few players using this to ruin the game for everyone which is a shame, but this problem isn't even comparable to the CTD and server issues that are going on and imho it isn't endemic however is on the rise.

You guys have absolutely no idea how much work it takes to make an anti-cheat tool. Granted, PB could be better, but so does any anti-cheat tool for any game. If you don't think you ever seen anyone get hw banned from PB, go read the cheat boards.

oh here we go again..... another story about how there are "sooooo" many hackers out there.

Dont believe the orginal poster. There really aren't that much hackers out there. The percentage is very low.

And although punkbuster doesnt catch everyone out there, it does catch a vast majority of people.

And if someone is caught cheating on punkbuster, it disables your account. Hacking might give you a week of fun, but once punkbuster updates (which it does regulary, then your caught, and your account is banned. Not only your playername, but your actual CDKEY. and its a big hassle trying to convince them otherwise you weren't hacking)

Lets put it this way - if there are 2-3 aimbot users on every server as the OP describes, then they really must suck or not know how to use their hack very well.

I'd probably agree with you on that. It's just my friend's experience during the week he used the aimbot. Maybe he was unlucky. I know he tended to go on reasonably full 64 player maps, so 1 or 2 per server is a low percentage. The reason for the post was more suggesting using the aimbot in a vigilante sort of way. :guns:

If most of them are 12 years old, then that would explain it.

I dont think many are hacking, just luck.
Last night standing up at the end of wake looking out to the usm island.
Saw a sniper, i was standing, no chance of shooting him, so didnt even zoom,
just spotted him (press q) as i always do, however I carried on through and let off a couple of shots (by accident) and killed him - couldn't believe it myself - the medic rifles not that good, it was just pure luck.
Most of what people believe is cheating / hack is just luck or unluck - except for exploits - i hate them explioters

Sad. A bit of gooling turns out at least a few self-proclaimd PB proof hacks for BF2. Whether they work or not is another issue, but surely PB needs to get off their arses and work to stop this.

Your friends a *******, even for paying for it.

And why does no one listen? PB can only ban by their database, they can only pick up on a name if you like, if they scan the directory and find that name/file they can ban. However PB 'research' meaning downloads the public hacks that you can get for free from many websites, and they implement them into their database so anyone who uses them gets banned.

Then you have the actuall coder who can make a hack and distribute it to his friends. Now tell me, how is PB meant to get this hack from the coder and his friends without downloading it? if they didn't post it on the internet and are using it privatly on a cd or floppy etc, they won't get caught by PB at all. The ones you see banned are the ones who download the already detected hacks and use them...

And I take it you mean **** by XYZ?
