Thanks for the input, guys! I have all the sound set on my X-Fi, just installed windows and the drivers and this is happening, so I am spell bound as to why this could occur. Last night my frames dropped to 2.-10fps for a minute at a time for a while, it was literally like watching an old family picture slide show.

i dont get why a pc with a higher spec than mine is getting fps that low...

i get 100 all the time, never drops no matter whats going on!!

you might want to try a different soundcard? some people complained about X-fi's giving them lower fps. people have complained about 2 cpu's causing problems as well, try it only with one enabled ?

Oh my god... another thing. I... and apparentely everyone else, has been getting huge ping spikes up to ~360 and random lagginess, that has nothing to do with your computer or ISP.. or router or anything else. It's BF2.


Some days it doesn't happen, other days, it's almost unplayable. It happens at both of my houses, with different computers, and different ISP's.

On top of that, it happens to all of the people i'm on ventrilo with, and also I have asked random people and it happens to them too.


So yeah.. I can't even run FRAPS good anymore. And I was thinking it was my computer. But you are completely right, it is these **** patches causing the problem. They may have fixed CTD, but there are SO many major glitches/bugs/performance drops.... etc out there that need to be fixed it's not even funny.


Here's an example. I used to run EVERYTHING on high, but with AA on X4. I used to get 70-100 fps way back when.

NOW, I run half the stuff on medium, some on low, and geometry and something else on high.. NO AA.

Depending on the map.. like, city maps, I get 30-60 avg, wake I am still high at 70-100, big open maps with alot of things like, kubra, fushe, daqing... etc. I get 20-40... almost unplayable.

OMG!! That happens also to me.

And server crashes have gotten also worse!!!!

I dont know if this is the server, but when I first tryed 1.4 for the first time since I got my new computer i had stutters. I run everything on medium, texture on high. dynamics on low. Happened for 2-3 rounds.

It seems to actually only be for that 1 day lol. Maybe the server was lagging?

Funny thing is when I re-install BF2 I get around 60 Frames on medium and now I even had to tweak and get the most out of my card to get a normal FPS for competetive gaming.

I get a strange glitch where on some servers looking a certain direction drops my framerates to like -2 FPS

Extremly annoying.

I haven't noticed any performance drops personally.
