Re: Heli crew: I want your input.

I voted daquing because I've seen heli vids on all the others except oman... but the gameplay there cant be much different then dalian (mainland and ship).

I would really, really like a sharqi heli pwnage video.

Re: Heli crew: I want your input.

        That was excellent. A+

I'd like to see some footage of your hands while you are playing - kinda like a side-by-side, or split-screen action. Your flying and gunning was very impressive.

I'm thinking Sharqi or Dragon Valley or Oman. I voted for Oman. As far as techniques or comments, I think what you did was great.

        Thanks, Sloi.

:edit: Oh, maybe we could sticky this and everyone can post links to heli videos? Just a thought.

Re: Heli crew: I want your input.

          I voted Dragon Valley.

There are alot of cool obstacles on this map, and as a gunner, I prefer this map. When my pilot is skilled, he peeks above mountains, and I open hell to anything and everyone on the other side.

I usually play on Raging Rebels 1.3 server. MY favorite pilot has to be Yamer.ftr who is an admin on that server. If by any chance your ready this: SUP Yamer?!

Sloi... that was awesome. If you have time, maybe you can even do a basic tutorial for completely new helo pilots. I bet it'll even help ones that have been flying a while. Show things like basic movements and technique. Otherwise great video and commentary.

You probably don't remember but you helped me get ALL but one of my helo ribbons ... around 4 months ago. Thanks man! I never see you on TS at SOB anymore.

Any advice on which settings to configure for Fraps prior to recording ? I want as smooth of an experience as possible to help make this video properly. :)
Ok, this arrives late, and the job is done as you said, but aren't Dragon such a map where sunshine is making targetting real pain in the azz. Crosshair disappears when placed against the sky? Do you Sloi have any tricks or aids for this problem. It seems that most of time the copter in higher altitude wins the dogfight.

Other question, when u enter gunners seat u already have TV targeting screen ready. How do you do that? For me it always goes to cannon targeting hud first.

I think doing the basic stuff would be boring... theres too much of that. i liked this video.

Zefram, check this video out - he as a few basics in the beginning, but from there on out its basically the same

Awesome video sloi, looking forward to your second one!

BTW, I'd like to see more "cool" tv-shots, tips on when to change to gunner view and stuff...

Of course I remember you, bro. I don't really go on teamspeak anymore: I just wait for people to hit me up for impromptu games and if they're on vent/ts, then I hop on.

The basics have already been well covered, but I could always try and make more thorough commentaries about the way I move.

Well, it can be a pain in the ass until you find a few solutions :)

1- if you're high, try to manipulate the other chopper into going against a blue patch of sky so that your TV crosshair can contrast against it.

2- remain higher than the other helo so that you can aim down and hopefully get a patch of ground or blue sky.

3- just shoot and hope for the best.

As for the actual seat-switching, it's just a very fast F2 -> Right-click. You don't really notice it because I try and to do it rapidly...

Noted. I'll make sure to explain when and why I decide to shoot...

As for cool shots, well, just remember that I'm offering unedited/uncut videos so for the most part, they'll be few and far between the more standard shots. What I can try doing is experimenting with weird angle shots (such as firing the TV while upside down) to give you an idea of how I recuperate, if at all possible.

Hmmm, I'll get my friend to bring his digicam to tape a quick 3-4 minutes of flight so that you can see what I do with my hands.

As for the latter suggestion, it might be a good idea because I have no intention of stopping now: I think this kind of video "diary" has potential to help others and is more educational than all of those skills reels.

Re: Heli crew: I want your input.

A pretty nice video but I've got one gripe: the Hellfires are the wire guided missiles on the cobra, (TV-missile) the small unguided rockets are called FFAR's (Folding Fin Aerial Rocket) or Hydras.

I'll make sure to correct that in my next vid. Thanks for the head's up!

Very well done video, entertaining and educational.

Question- were you using macros to fire off the TVGM?

Nope, I had to constantly re-calculate where I thought they would go to get there when they did: that's why I missed so much!

Hehe, shooting TVguided upside down :), you'd have to switch back to pilot view quite fast after that ...
