I think you're confusing "anti-vehicle" with "pro-urban". Its a common fact that spread out maps where infantry have nothing to do (like most of the Chinese maps) are the least popular, and the urban ones seem to be the faves for a lot of people.

It's not necessarily because people dont like vehicles, its the close quarters, street to street fighting which I think appeals to people. Vehicles can still come too, its just a bit fairer for infantry as theyre not in no mans land getting raped at distance by an APC or Tank, they can hop in an out of corners and sidestreets and its far harder for the vehicles to see where its coming from. Which is probably why you dont like urban maps.

Calm down dude, your bigger maps are still going to be there, its just less people might be on them if Jalala-whatever is urban.

      Not how I feel.
It really looks like these people have a real disdain for vehicle and it makes me nuts. The BF series has always been about vehicles or at least vehicles are a big part of BF. However you want to phrase it. It makes me nuts that people want to have such an integral part of the game 'removed' because they don't like it. ESPECIALLY since Karkand is probably the ONLY map they play.
They don't like vehicles so they don't play the other maps yet they want to always change the game to satisfy the "Karkand' play style.

It's not that I don't like urban maps, I do but I don't sit here and complain about the vehicles. They're part of the game so deal with it. Just because you'd rather knife some guy in the back but can't because a tank is coming down the street toward you want the tank removed so you can enjoy you knifing without interferance? That's lame. That's why people are always screaming "this is BF2 not CS".

Maybe you need to get over it. They're expressing their own preference for game style. If 99% of people agreed with them, vehicles would go, and rightly so (supply and demand). But they're in a vocal minority so the vehicles will stay.

Wrong, wrong and even more wrong. In fact how can you be so wrong? Karkand is popular because it's enjoyable. How else is something game-related popular? It involves intense fire-fights and is as close to being a pure fps as BF2 gets. Sure the vehicle maps are nice too, but if you want to trot round on foot and get involved in battlefield-esq infantry combat, then Karkand is what you're looking for, plain and simple. One might say you're more in control of your own destiny in Karkand - there are no jets bombing you incessantly from out of nowhere and from outwith your control and it's only natural for people to enjoy doing things where they feel more in control of the outcome..

Now, I play each and every map in relatively equal proportions and I'd say each are fun in their own way. If I want to carve it up on foot and have intense fire-fights, I play Karkand, Sharqi or Mashtuur. If I want to play in vehicles more I play the other maps.

            Each to their own.

              I feel your pain LoganX
I must be one of the few who wishes there was more APCs and aircraft on Karkand - I'd probably play it if there was
Ghost Town is a perfect example of how real BF2 in an urban environment works

LoganX, I don't have problems with vehicles, and I mostly play Karkand, Sharqi and Mashtuur... But Karkand without armor wouldn't be that fun, and I wouldn't have such a nice AT score I think, urban maps, with a lot of vehicles is optimal to satisfy everebody, and infantry gonna get a chance + some nice armor battles... I must admit urban fight more intensive, than fight in a middle of the desert...

Thats right. Although in real life the Iraqi military got their asses handed to them from a distance by US air power and armour, that reality does not make for a fun gaming experience. Be sorta like having realistic injury modelling and having to sit there with your intestines hanging out and not being able to do anything except die slowly and pressing the "moan" or "cry" buttons.

So yes it will probably be an infantry map with tanks(Like Karkand but unstead of buildings it's the mountain)

eh, dont really care about it, unless aircraft are gonna be in it

But armored fury is where its at right now, specifically 24/7 road rage

Heh, ain't that the truth!! One certainly wouldn't want you on the same side if you weren't in a jet that's for sure.

I doubt it. The only thing that would happen is something that just may happen anyway...infantry only server side setting.
EA/DICE would never in a million years remove vehicles from BF. It's their baby and vehicles have been with it since its inception. They may 'accomodate' but they will never remove.

I hope it has the following:
                                2 airfields, with 3 planes.
                                Lots of armor
                                Lots of linebackers/mobile AA
And a small town in the middle that the infantry have to battle over to get the flag.

Sorta like Aberdeen w/planes. And lots of mobile AA, stationary AA is useless.
