    Re: "Road to Jalalabad" Discussion

A 32 player map with a focus on urban combat and light focus on armor (IE mushy/kark style) and a 64 with a focus on vehicle combat (As in throw air/aa/tanks/apcs/towvees/whatever). That would be lovely. One map, two play styles, more happy server owners that can gear a map toward what the majority of the ignorant masses want.

      Re: "Road to Jalalabad" Discussion

The closest thing to a perfect map I've ever played was in BF:Vietnam, and that was Operation Cedar Falls. It had awesome CQC fighting below ground in the tunnels, and nice heli, tank, and aircraft fighting above ground in the forest. It was one map that could satisfy everyone's needs. People who loved infantry but hated getting raped by helis (and who didn't :p) could stay down below and duke it out over the two below-ground flags. People who liked armour could use the vehicles above ground to take the flags there, and people who loved to fly had the helis and planes above they could play around with. It was really an all-in-one map (and, to a lesser extent, so was Saigon 1968). If they were to make a map like Jalalabad to be similar to Cedar Falls (instead of tunnels it could have a big building where arty and helis couldn't go - similar to how the sub pens in Leviathan work) I think it could really satisfy everyone, although with claymores being the way they are right now, small tunnels probably wouldn't work too well, but that's another issue altogether.

Id like to see a properly balanced map with vehicle's as there pretty much isnt one in bf2 thats why people like karkand. the way they have made maps in bf2 is pretty awful alot of the trouble is caused by how inclosed they made them with the red area's and the lack of available routes for armor/infantry to take BF1942 had 1000 times better map design and balance I dont think there is one map made for 1942 that isnt better then every map that has come for bf2 id say the armored fury maps are pretty close as they remind me of aberdeen but then again aberdeen was the weakest offical map for 1942.

Forgotten Hope 2 should remedy how craptastical the maps are for bf2

I hope this new Jalalabad map (is that too many L's?) will be like Strike at Karkland, but without the glitchs and a bit bigger.
lol...if you love the map, at least learn how to spell it...

Yes there is a decent population of people who concentrate on the small infantry maps but that in no way represents the majority of players.
They're still the minority but they also tend to be more vocal.
BF2 is about vehicles. Always has been always will be.
I BEG TO DIFFER....the game is about TEAMWORK. TEAMWORK always wins it.

I agree. I thought this thread was supposed to be about Jalalabad. What does CSS have to do w/Jalalabad? Anyway, vehicle maps are fine; when I don't feel like playing them I don't play them. But what I really enjoy is hand to hand combat. I get the most enjoyment out of shooting others with an assault rifle and I like doing it with my (SFR) squadmates. That's my version of BF2 fun so I am very excited about the possibility of Jalalabad being an infantry-only map. So, IMO, it is time for an infantry map.

"Look at the leader board, all the top players play Karkand therefore Karkand is where the best players are and where the stiffest competition is. Anybody who doesnt play Karkand is clearly a noob hiding from being raped by better players."
Look at my stats- do I look like a newb? I hate Karkand. HATE IT. I don't play it because ten seconds down the hill you get nades flying everywhere. That **** is just cheap killing.

Karkand is a retard training center for armor rapists.

EVERYBODY KNOWS that if the US doesn't go AROUND the opposite team within a certain amount of time MEC will win. Yet they mostly do. So you get the MEC commander "Come on guys... help me out please" bitching because too many of his guys are having fun throwing nades.

I hate that level because when a noob sees me running somewhere he thinks "Well... I can't shoot for **** so I might as well start chucking nades cause I have nothing better to do". But before I start running I have to worry about that APC sitting at where I'm going to spawn to even THINK about running.

                      Karkand blows. Get a life.

You know why all of those top players are at Karkand? Tank hours. Show me ONE of those top guys who is actually fighting infantry and I'll show you how much time that newb has in a tank vs his infantry stats.

Everyone's Karkand experience is different... Just because your own experience with the map sucks it doesn't mean it sucks in general. I play Karkand a lot, along with Sharqi and Mashtuur. I've managed to stay out of armor and still have a good time. I think it depends on what server you frequent and your playing style.

Well fact of the matter is the extra content they have been releasing has been vehicle centric, theres been little in the way of maps to appease the foot sloggers, so when 20% of the maps are urban, yet are the most popular, kinda makes you think, doesn't it?
