      Re: "Road to Jalalabad" Discussion

I was honestly going to hope for a couple of air fields, helis, and a city in the middle with massive urban fights with minimal tanks roaming around inside the city.

So its a battle for air superiority and infantry inside the city for flags. And it'd be cool if the flags were semi covered as to not allow bombs to hit them (then again guys would do crazy **** for bombs to hit weird angles).

But from what i see of the new map... it really wasn't what I was expecting.

        Re: "Road to Jalalabad" Discussion

This topic has turned into another pro/anti Infantry only debate. You were asked your opinions on the map, there are already other threads for the debate that has ensued.

As for Infantry Only, the MAIN concern of MOST anti IO players is that there will be no servers left as they will all go IO. This isnt the case, people still like to be able to use vehicles, but other people like to play now and again WITHOUT those vehicles involved. Whether your retarded reasoning is that the pro IO guys 'cant deal with a tank' or whether its the more mature, and understable reason that you beleive servers where vehicles can still be used will die off is irrelevant. Normal Servers will NOT die off, yes, maybe a few will switch to IO, but people will still want to use vehicles, thus servers will still exist for those people to use. It is simple supply/demand. Dont credit all server owners as being mindless children who cant make sensible decisions, they are not.

The point is whether you beleive players should be ALLOWED to have the OPTION of going to infantry only servers if THEY want to (regardless of their reason) Those who wont play IO, dont have to, they can still continue to play normal servers, with vehicles. Those who do want to play IO should therefore be allowed to do so. Whether it changes the game from its original aim (a mixture of vehicle ajnd infantry combat) is also irrelevant if you are anti IO as you just keep playing on servers as you do now therefore enjoying the game as you see it was intended.

The only valid arguement i can see against that of IO servers is that of stats. Ie, is it easier for person A on an IO server to get certain stats than person B on a normal server? Probably, is it easier for person B to get certain stats easier than person A? Probably.

It swings both ways, the way i see it is the need to compromise. You like your vehicles, i like running around with my squad matesm, having a laugh and some good gun battles. If you dont like it, fair enough, i dont much like the jets, but to dimiss someone the OPTION of playing without vehicles isnt really fair, when you as a person who likes using vehicles at the moment, effectively have a free for all.

(and please, dont comeback with some moronic 'Go play counter strike' comment. I did, i played CS, TFC, DOD, Quake, you name it since the beta days, all the way through to the current versions. And the infantry combat is not comparable. The only thing they have in common is the fact they fall under the FPS genre)

That's basically Oman, except there are tanks and APCs but not nearly as much as Karkand. But Oman is basically a city with two airbases and a fight for air superiority.

good map for the most part, but cut down half the tanks and it would be great
