Just one more thing I'd like to add before I leave this discussion. Wreck: I have lost any and all respect I may have had for you. What you did to phen0m was wrong, seriously. I know, everyone gets ****ed when we get exploited or cheats used against us. What you should have done is reported it to the proper people and let them decide whether to wipe their stats or not. Now Phen0m had to change his name and everything if he wants to not have to deal with constant harassment. Before you all saying he deserved this, put yourself in his shoes: somebody has accused you of cheating on the forums and has provided evidence that could (possibly) be interpreted as cheating. You yourself know that you're innocent, but you'll be lynched just the same. How in the **** is that right? It isn't.

This thread isn't educational, as some would like to think. We all already know what the warning signs of a cheater are, and we know how to collect evidence and send it to BFROE. There is no need for this Witch Trial, ever. The punishment for cheating is having your stats wiped; that should be enough.

If someone accused me of cheating and I was guilty I would have admitted it and went out like a man. For instance a guy name hiei987 was caught cheating via screenshot, and it was posted over on PBF. At first he denied it, then came with a story about it being someone else on his account, but finally came clean. I really respect him for that even though he cheated. Nothing more was made of it after that, he cheated, so be it.

First of all, I am not a cheater sympathizer. I am simply somebody who is apalled by this witch-hunting mentality that you and others seem to posess. Second of all, I personally feel he did cheat, but that is not the issue here. The issue is that this same thing could happen to somebody who is innocent. Somebody such as yourself could post some "proof" that looks very compelling and watch as everybody mocks the target. But what if that person is innocent? What if they deny cheating and they are correct in their denial? The only way the community will accept them is if they admit to cheating, which they didn't -- JUST LIKE A WITCH TRIAL. It's not our responsibility to determine whether somebody is cheating or not. It is our responsibility to make sure the right people know.

I disagree. This thread has helped ppl identify hax, and serves as a warning to those who are hacking.

And for those who this cheat is now their worst enemy (in the stats), or gave them their worst death streak the humiliation will never be over.

I know how this feels, my worst enemy was a cheating stats padder who I got banned, but every time I look at my stats there's the cheating mofo's name. They deserve all they get.

But it isn't necessary. Somebody could just as easily post a topic about how to identify cheaters with no harm done to anybody.

And who cares about stats? I could care less if my worst enemy was a cheater/stats padder, no skin off my nose. Stop focusing so much on statistics and focus on the damn game.

He is changing names to bot under another name, not because people will follow him around to TK him. That's ridiculous. With his current name he is sort of damaged goods as it is, since he would never know when an somebody will recognize him and turn on the battle recorder just to see if he is cheating. And if he is not a hacker, that wouldn't hurt him would it? He is changing names because he knows we will check to see how he is doing under his old name. If he starts doing incredibly well, we will get suspicious again. This way, with a new name, he can rack up the kills, ribbons, badges probably for quite some time until he gets caught (if he ever gets caught) again. It makes perfect sense.

The post here did a lot of good for me, I don't know about anybody else, because I learned all the signs, and excuses, of a hacker. Sorry it didn't help you.

By the way, the expression is normally "witch hunt," although "witch trial" gets the message through too.

I was concerned this would become a witch hunt too but 80-90% of the posts have been civil and contributed to the discussion. Very few threads have been as educational as this one and this was because we had real evidence to work with. Congratulations to Wreck for creating one of the most interesting topics in a while.

I disagree with Heous. This was a learning opportunity for everyone who posted including phenOm. Public discourse on cheating and how to identify hacks is one of the best things we could do here. I don't see any reasons to worry about the consequences of this thread because the only thing at stake are stats and an online reputation. Most of us have been willing to judge phenOm on the facts and evidence available and give him an opportunity to vindicate himself.

I think you are taking things a little too far. With the evidence presented some people thought he cheated, some didn't. We all got to voice out opinions and our arguements. Phen0m did nothing to help in his defense except come up with excuses and insult the people on these forums. In the end EA had the final say, which was guilty. The only one in this thread who was really out of order and childish was phen0m himself.

Then I must've only seen the "yeah, he's a cheater" posts in this discussion. I still don't believe it was right for Wreck to start this topic; It would have been more appropriate to just post the evidence without naming names as a possible indication of cheating. And It isn't our place to judge phen0m - it is EA's. No matter how many people may see this differently, that's the truth.

Perhaps I am being a little gloomy, and perhaps I hold too much importance on online reputation, but I still don't believe that posts against certain forum members like this should be allowed in the future. Isn't that against the rules or something?

Heous, take a good look at what you are saying. All I keep reading from you is whats ifs, and could of's.

No one needs to hear your theories on how this topic could of went wrong. So you can save the preaching for someone who cares.

In actuallity most if not all of us has fallen victim to haxors such as phenom. In most cases haxors only get banned or kicked from servers. Phenom's case is different because he chose to be an egotistical, attention craving, bragging little prick. Had he not bashed others and boast about how good he is, he would of stayed under the radar and still have his points to this day. In the end he owned himself. Good job Wreck.
