    Re: SVD = Amazing

yeah I recently started using the SVD again, was getting bored with the AWP and now I cant stand sniping without it. Much more effective at sniping moving targets and quick 'multi-kills' are very possible. I much prefer being on MEC/SPETZ/Rebels side now. I just wish there was a semi-auto sniper unlock.

Yeah i have found it to be really good to. Because you can finish off your kills easily with its semi action instead of recocking the bolt and having to zoom out. Sharqi it makes its name there.

Sometimes you dont even gotta zoom in to shoot it. Just circle the person and click rapdily and hes down.
I have played sniper alot and the SVD is by far my favorite rifle, and I know everything about it. Everything you say is true, but you cannot no scope with the SVD, it is practically impossible. Go find a wall and stand about 5 feet away from it, then just start clicking, the bullets will go everywhere, pff maybe some even behind you. :) But the SVD is a good close combat weapon.

I actually use the SVD over the M95 when on MEC/insurgent whatever, unless i can get a good sniping spot on choppers, 10 round mag with lethal damage and semi auto in CQB is bloody good :) and headshots take a bit of getting used to the scope but easy when you know how

Great rifle in CQC. For farther range combat the M95 and M24 are superior and more effective. SVD owns in Karkand though! Cheers!

kushcompany, What do your system specs have to do with a Russian sniper rifle?

                      Re: SVD = Amazing

The Chinese sniper is a better weapon than the SVD but it is under used due to the popularity of MEC and USMC maps.
The SVD, Chinese sniper and the M95 sometimes miss their head shots due to deviation and bullet drop.

I prefer the l96 and only use the M95 when I feel like fast switching to my pistol.
M95 knocks any person down to two bars. Then you just switch to pistol and fire away

                        Re: SVD = Amazing

yea, the thing about teh MEC/PLA rifles, is that their scopes are off. SVD, aim a tad higher than where you want to shoot. PLA rifle (type 88???) aim a bit lower. so for a head shot with the type 88, aim for chin/neck area.

                          Re: SVD = Amazing

I haven't had any trouble aiming the sights on any of the rifles (except maybe getting used to the bullet drop of the M95 a couple months back).

Nonetheless, I too have started using the SVD again. (I say again because it was a favorite rifle of mine just because of the specs)

I've learned how to use it pretty well, long and short range (Assuming I don't lag up). I also kinda wish the US had a marksmans rifle as an unlock, as I recently took out two full squads in rapid succession with the SVD's semi-auto and quick reloading time. Ya just gotta get used to it.

(And of course, I still use the Bolt-actions for true long range sniping.)

I love it, it offers more opportunities, you can't always get 1 shot kills, so the semi-auto helps out heaps. Only con for me is the scope, makes headshots harder :p

                              Re: SVD = Amazing

Why would a sniper be running around in close quarters taking flags? I can understand a few times when it's advantageous to take a flag as a sniper, but most of the time, a sniper should just stay back out of everyones' way and let them fight.

Close-combat advantages aren't an argument for Svd.
Iam also using the L96a1 in close-combat.
I think Svd is not a good rifle.

Iam taking flags very often as sniper: planting some claymores is very helpfull..
