at the start of this thread im like wth is ea doing

as i read the posts ive come to see what ea sees as the problem in their efforts to make a tactical fighting game ie work as a team or be wiped out

that means become a section stick togethor work togethor not get in a section then change to another one when it looks like youll get some points with another squad.. border line stat padding ????

i have never been a squad hopper but i am a dedicated squad member i have maybe 70 hours of solo time out of 850 hours and most of this is in servers where for some reason there could only be 2 squads

my humble opinoin is that this is a good move but poorly timed as the mechanics of the game need some work before altering the gameplay and perhaps coausing more problems

Bf set itself apart by not having that kind of playstyle and I for one am glad EA/DICE is regaining control.
Another words, you suck and are tired of getting wrecked by better players and you want DICE to fix it so the game is easier.

I needed a translator for that one.

BF2 was faster paced when it first came out and its been getting slower with each patch. So the argument that BF2 is becoming a twitch fest is invalid.

The problem the competitive community is failing to understand is you're the minority. Now, you're a more pronounced minority... an "Elitest" minority so to speak. Yet, the minority none-the-less. So, if the majority (Also known and Pubbers) finds a problem with somthing, complains about it, it's going to get changed.

EA wants to please the "Pubbers", not you. If you don't buy the game; they lose about 15%. If the "Pubbers" don't buy the game, they lose 85%. It's much smarter to keep the 85%.

Suck it up. Adapt, flex the "skills" you guys constantly boast about having over everyone; grow. If you're not able to grow with the changes you both agree and disagree with; ...maybe you aren't as talented as you all seem to give yourself credit for? Eh?

Yeah but clans pay for ranked servers. So hopefully this will **** off enough clans that server selection is greatly diminshed.

Also, this wasn't even an issue until the patch notes were released. There wasn't some great outcry from pub nubs about squad hopping. FFS most pubbers don't even understand how to do it.

Cmon'. Do you "HONESTLY" think EA would let a small number of ****ed Clan people ruin their primary pull to BF2; the ranking system!?

Be realistic guy. If all of the clans dropped off of the planet today in protest, EA would simply open it's own servers at a "VERY" small fee to themselves. It's not like they having made over 8x or so the production cost of all BF2 content up until this point.

Clans would fade away, and almost every server would be an "Official EA etc. etc." Clans don't have even 2% of the pull they give themselves credit for, mine included.

A very small part of the community is vocal on the forums. Not to mention this isn't the "ONLY" forum. How can you be 100% sure this wasn't an issue somewhere else (ForumPlanet maybe)?

...also, understanding how to exploit a certain aspect of the game doesn't change the fact that you're annoyed and frustrated about the expoitation being targeted at you. Simply put, people don't need to know how to do it to be ****ed and annoyed with it. They simply need to see the side affects (One man sneaks into your rear of your ranks, suddenly there is an entire platoon) and become vocal about them.

I understand the change might bother you, but, change happens. Progression happens. Complain about it, go with it, don't go with it, just understand that it shall continue to happen as long as people call for it and THEY are in the vocal majority.

Well, if you're not willing to adapt. Quit.

You really only have two options. Complain and play, or complain and quit. Both are valid; but net the same result though. EA isn't going to make large scale changed in the name of the "Competitive" community, much like they won't for the "Realism" community. My group, much like yours, isn't even close to being the majority (primary market)...

                    ...live with it.

I didn't see any of the BF2 community ask for airdroped veichles.

So you can only ask DICE/EA why do they remove a function that is used in widely in the BF2 community.

I just want BF to return to what it used to be. Field Tactics, not game menu tactics.

No it's not. It supports it.
EA/DICE has been modifying the gameplay to realign it to where it's supposed to be within their vision their game.
Just because it was more Quake'ish before doesn't mean that is what it was mean to be.

Honestly that's one of the things that gets me every series of games evolves and changes otherwise there would be no need to make another game in the series.

Re: Patch V1.3 at BFCON - squadhopping still removed

This officially confirms for me that AJ Marini and DICE Canada are so totally and utterly detached from the BF2 community that they have absolutely no idea about what the game is really like out there in the public servers or in the competitive games.

What does HMMV drops bring to the game? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Being stuck out in the middle of a map on foot and in desperate need of a HMMV is really not a regular issue in this game. If i am in that postion, I would personally just suicide and respawn somewhere else rather than put the request in to my SL, wait for SL to ask the commander and the commander to actually do the drop. Trust me, in 1.3, the first few times they see a transport drop players will think "ooo cool" and after that they will realise what a pathetic "new feature" it is.

Squad hopping is fairly lame, and it would make sense to remove it, but SL cycling is a teamwork-based tactic and trying to stop the former by also removing the latter is retarded. Solution? Remove join and create squad buttons whilst dead BUT ALSO create a new "Assign Squad Leader" button for the current SL, even when dead. So if a squad works together, communicate with each other via VOIP and stay in the same squad, they get the benefit of being able to SL cycle, but the lone wolf who just wants to use a SL to spawn from and then leaves the squad once hes spawned is denied.

This game was fun because the new teamwork features of the game (compared to the previous BF games) gave BF2 so many more things for a player to do if they used teamwork than if they just ran about on their own. A blackhawk filled with the right classes would dominate a map, and with SL cycling, squads could defend a flag even after it was taken with some thought and communication.

All the "gameplay tweaks" since version 1.0 have served to shift the game towards the lone J-10 pilot who can cannon a 6-man blackhawk with such ease that USMC Wake is the biggest exercise in futility you'll ever undergo, or the lone tank driver with his turret pointed at 6 infantry gets 6 easy kills and doesnt even have to think about the risk of 1 squad member being able to take cover, take SL and get his squad to respawn AT to combat the threat.

This game is slowly losing its diversity and fun as all the interesting teamwork features that DICE Sweden came up with between BF42+Desert Combat and BF2 are becoming redundant and BF2 is "tweaked" into a plain boring fps where all the players who dont even know the squad menu exists just throw nades at each other in one of the billion 24/7 Karkand servers.

Yes - EA ran all the servers alone in the beginning. The clans pay them now - but they don't admin them directly any more. They don't have "root" on their servers. You can't "take it off the internet". If you stop paying money, the server gets free to rent again. If too many servers are free to rent, they may become cheaper. But before they all vanish, A LOT MORE than V1.3 has to happen.

Clans have some pull.... still the assumption that they ALL like squadhopping and that they ALL will leave if it is removed is wrong.
