Lets be honest BF2 a pile of sh*t now.
Not only can you not move more than 20metres because of pathetic w*nkers in planes or choppers raping you but now you can't have a guy in your squad make it past all the kids in jets to actually give your team a chance of capping a flag without being spawned raped at your base.
This game just shocking now can't go anywhere without someone without any balls hovering over you firing rockets just for the chance to kill 1 infantrymen but now they're lockin squad hopping.
Good job I basically given up gaming though:laugh:

Re: Patch V1.3 at BFCON - squadhopping still removed

I am glad they took out hopping if indeed it is gone. I can count the number of times I have hopped on one hand while I have played over 400 hours. If anything I think it will teach people how to use squads the way they were meant to be used.

IMHO, squads should be formed at the onset of the map and retained throughout. If you hop between squads, you're not helping the people who rely on you in that squad, you're hurting the team play. Leaving squads to join another is fine if you feel the need, but jumping squads while dead because you're looking for a spawn point is weak and not team oriented. If you have nowhere to spawn because all the flags are taken, perhaps you will learn to play better and take/retain flags more. If you cannot function as a squad without the crutch of dying, flipping squad leaders and re-spawning on him, then I feel sorry for you. I would like to see more people in squads. It sure helps a commander when you have people to command. The game would be better if people actually used the tools they were given the way they were meant to be used. One sweet side effect of this is that when you are down to one guy on the opposing team, he won’t suddenly have 5 new squad mates spawning on him. If they were not in his squad to begin with, they are SOL. Works for me.

If this causes a bunch of people to quit playing, fine by me. The load on the servers will go down and the server latency will get better; a win in my book.

              Why does that matter?

This is tossed about like some sort of insult, but the reality is that being a member of a clan and/or taking games seriously are perty geeky things to do. I have nothing against geeks (self described geek right here), but it's not like a badge of honor or anything.

Trying going to a bar and picking up a hot young lass based on your clan matches. I'm willing to bet you won't get very far. :p

Nothing I like better than spawning on a squad leader who has decided he is going to be a sniper and stay far from important targets, and be stuck in his squad because the squad system is screwed up. Ever been on one of those servers when your team can only make 3 squads?

If they make this the case, then the squad should be able to mutiny the squad leader.

I believe he is referring to clan matches as an example of how it is done correctly, not as a badge of honor. I guess I could be wrong but I doubt it.

Wow, some of the people around here really get hot about stuff.
I would like to toss two Ideas out here. First, doesnt a patch fix something. ie. Im gonna fix your tire Ill put a patch on it. Second, an adjustment is more or less a realignment or fine tuneing. ie. The picture is not in focus Ill adjust it.
What Im getting at is I wish EA would put the right word on these releases. They seem to be more of an adjustment than a patch. I myself am getting tired of the adjustments and am looking foward to the patches!
A lot of the heated argument that preceeded my post seems to be because people have different opinions, so. Whats the big deal. I really cant see it. Im glad the people here have different opinions If they didnt I wouldnt ever learn anything. It would be like getting on a map and everyone spawns as a medic, how much fun would that be? Not much, like having to many snipers, no fun at all. I believe we need to agree to disagree but also agree to listen, I include myself here too. If I can do it you can too. . . . . . . . .Red

So, in other words, it is relevant when it suits your needs and irrelevant when used against you. Got it.

                    Straws man, straws.
Is that the best you can do? I bring up a perfect valid use of your logic in a way you don't like and you don't even tell me why it is wrong. This is the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming over and over "I am right and you are wrong!! I can't hear you!"

Ok fine, it was a personal attack on your character as a human being and a conscience member of society, are you happy now?
My emtional state has been unchanging through this debate. However, this is a step in the right direction for you. Finally admitting that you unnecessarily attacked is the first step to admitting that you don't have much of a point.

Or just servers that run this current version. I like this game, and have no problems with any of the rules, but there is no rule against squadhopping, and if a server had such a rule, I simply wouldn't play there, but I wouldn't whine about it and ask EA/DICE to change it.
I don't think anyone has really complained about squadhopping. Until the fact that they are going to get rid of it I had only heard it mentioned 1 or 2 on this board mention it at all, and it was only that they did it. The reason they are getting rid of it is because it is using the sqaud system in a way it was not intended to be used. It is their game and they can program it and define the intended use. So I think this has less to do with complaints than it does with them.

Strategically speaking, this game really isn't. It's more of a pick up game, that has structure. Those that truely want to be able to move about from squad to squad will still be able to at a cost of 2 points, and 15 seconds. Those that want to play as tactical trainer will still be able to also.
                    Then what's the complaint?

Sure you can, but that guy has to be the squad leader. Sure it's limiting, but I think it'll make for more interesting gameplay.

I think he meant that as in, "you don't understand why I'm against this because you don't play in the same atmosphere I do".

It was not an insult, and when that comment is made, it's not usually meant to be insulting.

The bottom line is, organized, competitive play is vastly different than what you encounter on public servers and when a change is made that does not allow league configs to (server side option) alter accordingly, it really messes things up.

they did it because it was being missused. they made squad/spawn leaders for one reason only ..to aleviated spawn camping, however too many have abused it by sl/ squad hopping making the game even more troublesome and unrealistic,

get a clue folks seldom does EA / dice make changes asked for they go with getting the game closer to their original goal, if a requested change matches that then it is done coincindentally,

while it is a half step ( the work around is obvious) and will only slow down sl/squad hopping not end it I applaud the change...heck look at dolfin diving they tried to stop it...the arcade style players figured out how to get around their fix in days...

I am sorry but squad cycling is not teamwork. I think its pretty much an exploit. Good work you got 6 people that all know how to exploit a cool feature of a game that encourages you to keep your SL alive. Real teamwork is keeping your SL alive and NOT shooting a gazilion bullets the second you spawn on him giving the enemy his position. Real teamwork is waiting to spawn when your SL arrives at the location and attacking with a full squad instead of the small dribble of attackers because no one can wait for backup. They just want to run in and rambo the point and die while the next "Squad mate" gets ready to spawn in and rambo.

Its the SLs JOB to stay alive, postion himself so his squad can complete the objective, request supplies etc. Squad cycling removes EVERYTHING about being a SL except for the spawn point. If this was an intended use of SLs then EA would have made the highest ranking soldier that IS ALIVE the SL and you would not have to leave/join the squad. It isn't that way because its not supposed to.

The advantage of having mobile spawn points is directly countered by the fact you can kill that spawn point and stop the endless attack... This is the balance of the mobile spawn point feature.

Do I disagree with how EA is going about this squad hopping/cycling change?.... Yes and No.

I love the fact that squad cycling will be gone. I have played in the BF2 myisinternet tourney and if a team was caught doing this, they would loose a few rounds automatically. No squad cycling created tactical uses for squad leaders and made them just what they are supposed to be leaders.

I do not like the fact that you can't switch squads while dead. While I think it is also an exploit of the squad system to join a squad, spawn, leave the squad and start another so more and more troops can be teleported to a location. I do not feel that on pub servers this is a big issue and by removing this ability players have less options.

I am not against squad hopping because this really isn't that big of an issue. I think squad leader cycling is a WAY bigger issue that ruins gameplay.

i agree with you there but, the point of most people wanted this feature is on Public Gaming Servers.. thats it.. EA isnt looking at the bigger picture and very important one also. Competition is made right now with large amount of the squad hopping , which alot of clans can say they love it. But in public gaming its totally different. If this feature is removed , it wont be the end of the world , but it will hurt a huge amount of the competition community, which most of you solo gamers say isnt important to ya and dont care , well look at this , Sponsors pay tournaments, leagues and such to keep the clans coming to the tournaments , and advertise there products and such , but when this feature hits the pc, you will see a huge amount decease on competition totally , ladders will close , many many clans will drop out.. And guess what happened next, sponsors leave , dont give anymore prizes , no more money for tournaments at all. Meaning no publicity, which means bf2 is not popular anymore , its just known as another low ended so realistic game , like SWAT 4 or something. If you see the most played games in competition today is sorta old games , why cause well there fast pace, arcade and very well used in the competition world in many ways. Now this may not happened , or this may highly happened, when it does you can blame EA , and 1 other community .. Solo gamers who complain about non realistic stuff in BF2.. thats it!
