    :p

If you'd simply consiter the fact that all these people who are trying to help you understand the error of your ways might actually have a point, you'd have a chance to come away from this thread with a valuable lesson learned.

Or not. It's your call. You can be closed minded and pretend that everyone else is wrong, if you really want to.

Its funny that noone has mentioned repairing UAV trailers and artillery. WHen i see an enemy supply crate the first thing i do (after rearming and healing myself is blow the damn thing up. if O see one nest to a tank, i blow it up.
supply crates as someone already stated are just a static means to replenish your forces. Engineers PLay so much more of a role than this guy is thinking about. Hes obviously just worried about his own points and not thinking of the team.
ANd I rarely see a commander who can put supply crates everywhere they are needed. I rarely see a squad leader who can call for a a crate in the proper location.
Engineers are a very important aspect of this game.
when teamed in a proper squad, ( eng,medic.AT,spec-ops) all working together, woot talk about high scores!!!

engineer is my fav class, and im not a tank whore either. infact I rarely use tanks.

its all about the shotty and the mines for me. you just have to be smart, thats all. think ahead.

dont leave a feckin row of mines either , thats noob mistake number 1.

remember you can put mines on top of tanks! dont walk around leaving 2 mines infront and 2 behind, noob mistake number 2.

the shotguns are great in any map. unless the map is a hugh wide open space with no cover (rarly the case)

if u see a guy thats out of your range , dont go prone and try and take him out with your pistol/shotgun noob mistake number 3

chuck a nade and quickly sprint to cover, which there is always plenty of in bf2. if the nade didnt kill him (most of the time it does , im a feckin sniper with nades) then chances are you are both closer to eachother and its shotgun time.

Engineer is only a worthless class if your a worthless player

Good point. As a commander, I really don't like dropping supply crates on my assets. I just know that the damned sneaky spec ops dude is going to rearm himself off 'em 'n do more damage than he could have before.

That said, engie players really need to remember that just because something has stopped smoking, doesn't mean it's fixed! Ever notice the health bars next to the assets in the command screen? When those are low, the assets recharge slower. It occasionally drives me crazy when I see an engie drive past my destroyed arty, but takes off as soon as the guns are all standing up again. Sure, they can fire now... but I'm gonna have to wait 10 minutes between shots!

Plus, they coulda gotten themselves more repair points and thus helped boost my all important command score!

Ive 200+ hours as engineer. It aint useless.

I take pleasure in arranging and maintaining Armor pwnage or otherwise creating trouble that really trips up the opponets.

The only problem I ever have with engineer in the whole game is when you actually get out to repair mines your teammate might steal the armor and drive over you and BOOM. Those are NOT the teammates I want.

my favorite thing to do is get to engies in a squad on go to a big outdoor map and hop in a buggy one of the fast ones and go cap a flag and then lay mines around the parimeter and u can rank up kill after kill and have fun doing it. while the enemy is dying from ur mines the squad will be capping the next flag etc etc.

                So true!

I actually decided to make an account so I could back this comment up. I was having so much fun the other night as spec ops because of this. No defenders at thier base and the commander kept dropping crates on his assests. I'd load everything up with C4, blow some gun ammo and resupply until the crate blew, then blow all the assets again. I came in halfway through the match and got 20 kit points just from constantly destroying the enemy's assets.

I didn't realize that the assets recharged slower if they weren't fully repaired. I usually try to repair them completely, but I've been guilty of just making them stop smoking or repairing until I get my point then stopping.

Never again! I'm committed to full repairs only from now on!

Can't be much, I never noticed a difference. The only major advantage I've seen of healing them up is that if they're barely hanging on and they get double-C4ed, it takes a long time to bring them back to operational again.

In fact, a couple weeks ago I got 62 points and a gold medal because I pawned with my F2000. If you're an idiot and a lousy shot, you won't get points as assault, but I think a good assault player could get more points that a good engineer, on foot, any day of the week.
Congrations on your 62 points from 2 weeks ago. FYI I finish above 100 points every round I play, and I can do that with any kit including engineer, which noobs like you think it's useless just because you can't score points with it. I bet that the only reason why you play assault is because of the noobtoob GL on the f2000. Whenever I play assault, I chose the G3, but then there always will be experienced players, and noobs like yourself. And yeah, I went on BF2S.com just to see your 43 average score per round vs. mine 114. So SFU.

I say the Engineer guns dont suck, its the operator.

I have played the Engy kit over 400 hours, and I rank #395 with the shotgun.

                            avg. 29 points / round

                            ...but I'm useless

It's sad that some ignorant fools here are persistently refusing to accept proofs and facts, and continue to bad mouth the class just because they can't score any points with it.

I can't even drive a tank(well), but I always do very well as an engineer. The sheer power of the shotgun is not to be underestimated, a pump can kill 2 or more with a single shot, and the Jackhammer can wipe an entire squad of the map when aimed right(The default MEC one is awful though). I love to sneak up on unsuspecting immobile tanks, and put an AT mine in front of and behind them. The odd repair point is nice too, but it's mostly just nice to help your team out by fixing up their vehicles.
