    Mice Thread

There might've been a thread about this already, but what the hell. As all fps gamers know, a mouse is wayyyyyyyy important and can make the difference between a good or bad gaming experience. What kind of mouse are you all using and how do you like it? I was using a junky microsoft intellimouse explorer and i thought, whatever, mouses dont matter. That was until I just bought a razer diamondback. I am AMAZED by this mouse. Has anyone else used it?

Using Razer Diamondback and loving it.. MX518 does a good job copying it too, it has all its features too

If you really want to see improvement in you overall mouse handling, I suggest ppl try the 'fix' where you can increase mouse sample rate. This only works for corded USB mice connected to the USB port.

Normally it is 125Hz=8ms, but you can easily increase it to 250Hz=4ms or 500Hz=2ms or even 1000Hz=1ms. Most can do 500Hz, Razer Diamondback is one of the mice that does 1000Hz or a little lower on average.

This means that mouse is polled more often making it more smooth and responsive. (also uses more CPU but I havein't noticed difference)

You can download the tool here, latest is 1.1:

USE AT OWN RISK, if your USB devices become unresponsive revert to lower sample rate or back to 125Hz orginal speed.

You can read how it was orginally done via hex edit of usbport.sys here:
http://www.warleagues.com/viewnews.asp?view=45 discovered by guy named RaZieL

After applying the 'fix' use a sample rate checker to verify it runs above 125Hz , and just as you boot in to Windows you will notice that sensitivty has lowered but that is because sample rate has changed and is normal and you just adjust sens accordingly. Result is that mouse is more smooth and responsive.

This will not work for wireless mice, but if you are using a wireless for a FPS you really brought it onto yourself

i dont like those speedpads..i forget what website it was, somebody posted a link on the forums and i cant find it, but there was a keyboard that has configurable keys. like if you want a key to go to firefox it has the firefox logo on it and stuff. if you wanna play a game you tell it what game and the keys turn to the layout of the controls and stuff.

That one isn't out, and I believe it is just a design concept or similar.

I have Razer Diamondback Magma. It's way better than your average mouse, more precisise and comfortable to use. Makes gaming and desktop usage more fun.
