The reason sound card is generally better than USB sound devices is that, well, there simply has more space for amplifiers. In the end, most people who play sound systems know that it's all about amplifiers (and speakers).

Snobs? I haven't posted much, and I've only been a registered member since April but most of the people seem cheery enough. Granted some of their descriptions go overboard. There's lots of info and knowledge, resources and guides alike. But a hobby in headphones isn't for everyone.

I stick around overclock.net, it has it's fair share of audio fanatics but is balanced out by those who seek mid-range quality, not just high end!

dude im canceling my order for the trittons that are compatible with a bunch of consoles big money waste right there i should have got the ax51's

but since im canceling my order im still slightly undecided as to what i want. i AM willing to spend upward of $300 on something if its performance and audio pleasure really matches the cost. i would want to get something that is open eared aka has some kind of opening or vent on each cup because your head stays cooler and its not really as hard on your eardrums

that was one thing i definitely noticed with the gamecom 777's was they had no venting so my head got hotter than usual and the headphones actually started to hurt my ears after a time while the audio 770's do not because they have venting.

If you're really so hung up on quality, should have looked at a Xonar or Prelude

I'm interested in the Denon D2000. Priced a little more than $200 on Amazon. I want closed cans but I hear they're actually somewhat open. My choice was between the ATH-A900 or these and I went with these because of (among everything else I read) the fact that there are several things one can do to improve the sound if one chooses too. The stock cable isn't so good (recable), MarkL Mod, Wood cups, and there are amps with great synergy.

i definitely want something that bleeds because i dont have to worry about making noise, and i dont want to have a big hot headache-E face after 2 hours. not to mention right now during the summer its averaging 90f

interesting that the 555s are the same as the 595s :/

As for open vs closed mine are closed and they really don't make my head that hot at all. I think the material used for the cushion is quite important in that respects as i never buy pleather anymore for that reason. They where quite tight but they have definitely loosened up after a bit of use and are mega comfy now, in fact i seem to remember deliberately bending them a bit to make them fit better but they are such hardcore cans (typical german build quality) i wasn't scared in the slightest.
