      PRIIIIICE DROOOOOOOOP:

      Source: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/03...ops_in_price/1

In less than a week since launch, Nvidia's GeForce 9800 GX2 has already dropped in price by almost 10 percent at some of the UK's top online retailers.

On launch day, the GeForce 9800 GX2 was sitting around the £435 (inc. VAT) mark and today, a few partner cards are sitting below the £400 mark.

Scan appears to be the retailer with the best range of products in stock, and also the lowest average price (discounting those with just one product in stock) at £404.78 including VAT. What's more, four of the cards that are available on Scan are currently sitting under the £400 mark and that includes the XFX card that we reviewed on launch day.

CCL, on the other hand, comes up trumps with the lowest-priced card in stock – BFG Tech's GeForce 9800 GX2, priced at an attractive £374.99 (inc. VAT). Ebuyer is listing Point of View's card at £360.00, but sadly the retailer has no stock available yet.

Overclockers UK is doing its usual with a massively cut-priced "OcUK" version that comes in a white box with just a one year warranty – this sits at a pretty incredible £352.49 (inc. VAT). Of course, it's not a full retail product and the warranty is very short, but almost 28 percent of polled bit-tech forum members are just after the card in a white box.

So after looking through this could you say that the 9 series from Nvidia is basically the 2xxx series from ATI?

Because the transition from 8 series to 9 series has done the same as the transition form x1 to HD2, there has been no real improvement

I think a better comparison would be from the HD2XXX series to the HD3XXX series; no new architecture, just die shrinks and higher clocks.
