I enjoy Vista and think its alot better than what it used to be... now I still run XP on my gaming rig but I see nothing really wrong with Vista now with the service pack out and the driver support taking a 180 since the release of the OS.
Most of those that hate it are just afraid of change...but be advised that XP support runs out next year as it will be over 8 years old at that point. You will then have Windows 7 released for testing which will come out around the 3rd quarter of 2010.
Either way your going to be forced to change to have some sort of support from Microsoft in the next two years.Comment

Yes you can..however you may end up having to call microsoft and enter in the key displayed on the screen to re-activate it. If it doesn't work right that way they will send you to a "human" and just tell them exactly that and they will re-activate it.Comment

I tried using Windows Vista when it came out on my brother's shiny new laptop with it then and I got so fed up with it I never bothered to even consider changing from XP to Vista.
But then again, it's been a year since that. SP3 is due for Windows XP soon which I expect to be the last, so I'll probably switch over to Vista sometime in late 08 or early 09.Comment

The DX10 implementation on Vista may not be portable, but I don't believe that Microsoft couldn't make a XP version if they wanted too. After all DX10 in itself is just an API.
I would rather pay 20$ for a XP DX10 than 200$ for a Vista. And that is probably the reason why we will never see DX10 on XP. There would be no real incentive to upgrade to Vista.Comment
