whats is your reason for not swiching to vista?

i thought i would create this informational thread so people could post there legitimate reasons for not switching to vista.

my reasons are a follows.

1: i don't like the mass resources it would consume compared to xp.

2: i don't like the integrated backdoor that ms built into so that way they could snoop in every ones pc when ever they feel like it.

3:my wife and i share a network setup shes refuses to use vista because she doesn't like change and it does not support half the programs she uses, consequently one pc with xp and one with vista has issues networking together.

those are my top 3...

1 - Normally the case, but if you have a decent computer you don't really notice the difference when running most applications or games.

2 - Always going to be the case there's plenty of examples in XP, but come on, im sure Microsoft has a lot more interesting thing to get on with than browsing Joe's pc.

3 - Not as common as you may expect! Its perfectly possible to have a home network set up with just as many problems as you would expect with an XP home network.

PS - Im happily running in Vista . Before I installed it I had the same kind of opinions as yourself.

Driver support is still lacking in my opinion. for 64 bit at least.

Was scared of all the opinions expressed above, but changed, and have never looked back. It is so, so, so, so much more reliable than XP. The best change is the reworking of drivers, so if one crashes, it doesn't take the hardware with you. 6 months gone, and no blue screens on Vista yet :)

And, with SP1, i'm using less RAM than i did with XP

After commercial release of SP1, there is no reason bar money to change

For any main manufacturer this is not the case im sure? But this was also the case with 64bit XP was it not?

Release of 64bit drivers don't seem to be a problem any more apart from very old hardware.

Audigy 2 ZS user<<< No complaints when it comes to my EVGA stuff but I like having an operable sound card. I will probably end up just picking up an X-Fi. Dont get me wrong I LOVE 64 bit vista. Its just faster in my opinion. I just got a new mobo though so I've yet to take the day it will take to reinstall and get it activated by M$.

I dunno know why but when i had vista ultimate 32bit it tried hogging my wireless..so i couldnt play games online...it would cut out every 60 seconds

i can say the drivers were nice hows it's done ...
i did give vista its share of chances mind you i have installed every version of vista there is ..

i found that home basic was less resource hungry and there for my favorite, the netowrking of two vista pc's, it was too easy...my 6 year old could do it...but..like i say networking a xp pc to a vista pc has issues last time i tested...

FYI also, who ever said you don't have a pc that can't run vista was not correct also.
my pc more then runs vista...my point is this on the resources..

why should i spend half my resources or even a quarter of it running just the operating system,??
when i can use something that consumes much much less of it, and i get to fully use my hardware for whats it's being expected to be used on..

i don't buy new hardware for windows to run better..i buy new hardware so big games and applications run better...

Only issues I've had with using 64x which is itunes not installing properly, it says I can't rip CD's, but I can...

I didn't even know there were "issues" with networking between vista and XP.

I'm on a vista computer, and my brother uses an XP computer (he won't upgrade because he likes playing BF2, and only has 768mb of RAM) and our computers, plus my dad's vista laptop, are connected on a network and can access files easily. I often transfer over installers to my brother to save him from having to re-download things.
