So this has been a rather shitty week for TGN.
First, the site just up and crap itself. I still have no idea just what happened. All I know is that it was failing to load, Tim restarted the server and it never came back.
Now, I left on Monday around 3PM my time with the site not working. I went to go see the Avengers. After returning home, I had dinner and went for a walk. It was around that time that it started to thunder off in the distance. The storms eventually hit us hard. Know how some radars go from light green for a light rain up to red for heavy stuff? Well, some go above and beyond that, hitting up pink and purple for the REALLY strong stuff.
It just so happened that we got pegged with what I like to call "purple rain". Needless to say, our power was knocked out for about 5-6 hours here. This normally wouldn't be a problem except this time I needed to keep my computer on.
Why?
Because my power supply was already going. It powered on worse than a beat up old junker turns over and "starts". So long as I kept it on, though, it was fine until I had the funds to get a new power supply. But thanks to the purple rain, after having my computer on for a week without issue, I had to power it down as soon as the storm knocked out our power here (I have a battery backup PSU that gave me enough time to do this).
Cue the passing of the storm and my PC was completely dead. Push the power button to start it up and the lights sometimes flickered as the fans tried to speed up until it just ultimately failed. Cut two today when my new power supply finally arrived, installed without much issue and here I am.
Oh, and since my Xbox 360 depends on my PC being on in order for me to hear sound, I couldn't even play that. Two days of pure boredom. Might not have been so bad if it didn't proceed to rain off and on for most of those two days, meaning outdoor activities were also shot.Comment

People give me odd looks when they see my PC parts closet at my house. And they kind of think it's odd i have a new boxed Antec PwSupply just sitting in there. But then again when a friends PC craps out late at night when all the quality parts stores are closed you know who they call.
